Due to the time of day of my visit, finding street parking was slightly challenging until I realized I should park a couple blocks up the hill. My first impression was that this is a clean and trendy place - I liked the vibe :) I had come prepared with some photos of cuts and colors. I wanted to go a little bolder, a little brighter. Becca checked out my photos and went to work. She was very thorough, leaving no hair untouched. My rinse and wash was very relaxing, and the products used smelled wonderful. Becca was very friendly and fun to chat with. She definitely has experience and knows what she is doing. My hair turned out fabulous - just like the pictures!! I was scheduled for a cut, but I told her that in the future I wanted to do color to lighten up my brown hair in the future. She had time available that day and offered to do the color right on the spot, so I agreed. She was knowledgeable, took her time, and did a wonderful job! She did a combination of foil highlights and balayage on my long hair. It turned out better than I could have imagined and I have already received lots of compliments. Everyone there was very friendly and they clearly have long term loyal clients. I will definitely be back!

I had previously gone to a wonderful beautician at a different salon for years, who did a fabulous keratin treatment and charged me $100 because I didn't have much hair. (A huge head of thick coarse curly hair can be a major effort. My hair took almost no time at all) But my regular beautician stopped her business and we all had to find other salons. When I called Illustria and asked what they charged, the person on the phone said "a hundred." But after my treatment, Ibwas told it was $300!!! The beautician was awful and when she said "I'd like to even out some of your layers " what she actually did was cut 2-3 inches off the length of my hair!! She was also way too rough and fast when she did the curling iron, and I felt like she was yanking my hair out by the roots! I kept wincing. I had tears in my eyes! She kept denying. After, I had so many of my gray hairs lying on the black protective cape we were both shocked and surprised! I asked what these hairs were! She said "Your hair is falling out by its roots!" (It was all the hairs she had yanked out when they caught on her curling iron. She then looked at her iron and said (as though it exonerated her!) there is something sticky on my curling iron! She lowered the cost to $175 but she ruined my hair and even worse, it is still not straight. The lower 3 inches don't fall straight at all and the sides stick out like straw. She was awful and I want my money back for pain and damages done. And...worst of all, ai don't have straight smooth hair!!!! Also, her "styling" lasted 12 minutes. By the time I had driven to an event my hair looked awful. It still looks awful. It isn't smooth. Parts stick out like straw. The lower back inches are still curly!! And now it's short!! What a disaster. What a pathetic, awful, and arrogant operator. And ibdontbthinkntheyvarebdoing very well bc she kept saying they needed to charge a lot to pay their rent!!!!????!!!! What a pathetic loser. While she may do better with her Brazilian Blowouts on thick coarse hair, it certainly didn't work well on my thin fine hair....and I paid $175 for the worst hair experience of my life. Even after I call upset no one answered or returned my call but argued with me over messenger that what I wanted requires years of schooling/experience and Special techniques that weren't included in my promotion. All I asked was that they don't start the layers on the top layer of hair but they could be started on the next layer (they could touch the root of the hair in every other layer, I just didn't want the strip look on the top of my head) so far everyone I spoke with was extremely difficult to deal with. This was over all a very frustrating situation! I wish I would have read the reviews before I scheduled this appointment because I would have never booked an appointment!
