I got really tired of crappy haircuts at great clips so about a year ago I decided to splurge and try a new place. I made an appointment with Darby at studio b, when I got there, they offered me beer, wine, whatever I wanted to drink. Then Darby took me back and asked what I wanted and I told her to just do what she wanted, she was really excited about that. Then she took me into another room where they wash your hair, they have the lights dimmed and relaxing music playing and after she washed my hair she gave me a scalp massage with a steamed towel over my face and I was in heaven! Then she took me out, cut my hair AND styled it and it was the best haircut I've ever had! All this for $45 +tip, that is not bad at all for what you get. I always go to Ellen and she makes my hair perfect every single time! The staff is friendly from the moment you walk in the door to offering you a beverage for the road when you leave. I love the wash house experience where you can add on features like a keratin treatment or an extra couple minutes to your complimentary scalp massage, but I always just trust whatever Ellen recommends. She works at the Old Town location and if you're not going to Studio Be yet...read my review below, then give them a call and schedule an appointment with Laurie. Ok, if you're going anywhere other than Studio Be to get your hair done...STOP. This place is by far the best salon I've ever been to. I hate to spoil too many of the pleasant surprises - so SPOILER ALERT! Here's the deal: you go in, they offer you a beverage (soda, water, wine), give you a little card to fill out so that your stylist knows if you hate / love your hair cut, color, etc...BRILLIANT. Then, you get to sit down with your Stylist (here's another plug for Laurie...if you're not seeing anyone yet definitely request her. She is THE. BOMB.) and talk through what it is you're wanting to do, what do you not like or love about what's going on with your hair right now, etc. So you get the colors done or whatever it is you're doing and...wait for it...go to the shampoo room. Ok, so this is unlike any salon I've ever been to. This is not your basic sinks with chairs in front of them lined up in a back corner where you get a quick rinse and move on. Oh no. You go into this spa-like chamber of magical goodness with zen music and dim lighting and you RELAX. Yes. It's amazing. They truly take the whole shampoo experience beyond next level. We're talking top of the charts. You can pick fancy hair treatments or whatever (typically I get moisture treatments, etc. many of which are in your appointment cost) but eventually you get to the head massage. My guess is every single person who has posted a review mentions this, but you truly need to go to Studio Be just to experience this part of the appointment. Trust me. Anyway, all of these girls (and guys if applicable, I don't think I've seen any guys there though) are beyond capable of helping you. Oh, and I should mention that no matter your gender, you can get your hair done there. I've seen many men coming and going while I'm getting my hair done. The entire staff is knowledgeable and darn good at what they do. They continue to train and learn as they grow in their careers at Studio Be and from what Laurie has told me, Studio Be truly invests in their employees. They really do want this to be the best experience you've ever had, and it totally has been for me. Of course the head massages are the best. They come with the appointment and they are nice when it's been a stressful day. They are welcoming every time I come in and it's a comfortable environment compared to some other salons I have been to. My main hair dresser is Stephanie who helped me tremendously when my hair was chemically damaged. Every time I'm back in town, I make sure to book an appointment at Studio Be. The front desk staff is super friendly and always offer you something to drink when you check in. The wash room is great too. It's in a quite, separate room so it feels like a mini spa session. You can add hair treatments like my favorite, 10 minutes in heaven, that extends the hair wash for another 10 minutes. A must! I've seen a few stylists there, but my favorite is definitely Amanda B. She always cuts my hair just how I like it. I have really thick, wavy hair and she does a great job making it feel so much lighter and manageable. Complete and total NIGHTMARE! I went to this salon based on the rave reviews they had about their colorists. Well, the owner of the place did my hair, and it turned out dark green with red highlights!! I looked like a Christmas tree. Along with all the upselling they did, I walked out paying nearly $300 for a horrible color and cut, and then it cost me another $100 to have another salon fix the color. I went here during the summer to get a haircut and loved it. However, when I decided to go back for a dye and large blonde streaks put in my hair it ended up being a huge mistake. I did not get the large peekaboo streaks I had asked for. Instead the streaks were tiny and hardly even noticeable! My stylist explained to me that it would take multiple processes to get my streaks light as I wanted them and I would have to wait at least a month to fix it. This wasn't the point though, I had wanted bigger streaks put in my hair I understood that to lighten the hair more it's important to wait. It ended up being very frustrating because I ended up paying $150 for something I could have done for around $30 at home. All in all, I may go back for a haircut but I will absolutely never go back for a hair dye. read more

This studio is by far the best salon i have been to around the Fort Collins area. It's conveniently located near Old Town Square and the salon itself is set up so nicely. I appreciate how open the salon is and the wash room is such a relaxing environment. My stylist (Bethany H) took all of my concerns and questions into account and answered all questions I could have had about dying and caring for my hair. Bethany gave me the hair cut and color I wanted, and I love the results. Furthermore, all other employees were so sweet and professional in carrying out their work. A friend recommended this salon. I mistakenly thought she meant it was a Deva approved salon. NOT! The gal that cut my hair did fine for a straight hair cut. My hair is curly. When I came into the shop it was loud and raucous at 10AM on a weekday. Not my liking. I asked the receptionist if my stylist knew how to do a Deva cut. She said, "Sure, she knows all the latest cuts." Just for your information, she DOES NOT know Deva cuts and I've had MUCH better haircuts for about the same price elsewhere. So i just moved to the Loveland/Fort Collins area all the way from D.C. and I have been extremely nervous about my hair because I've been going to the same guy who I love for 10+ years in D.C. I was so pleasantly surprised by how awesome she is and the amazing job she did! i wasn't at ALL prepared for it, and i left there feeling so relieved. the entire experience was great, everyone is so sweet - even though i walked in with hair that was 2 months overdue and hadn't been washed in 4 days (so embarassing!). ALSO, the shampoo room in the back is like an actual spa, i highly highlyyy recommend getting the scalp massage. i have my next appointment in a couple of weeks because i didn't have time for a trim last time, can't wait! Although the front desk receptionist was very kind and apologized for the wait, I was disappointed with the level of urgency at this location. Wooohoooo!!! I found my salon! I have been searching for a full year! I have been coloring my hair since high school and have had some really amazing hair stylists throughout the years. It is fair to say I expect A LOT from my stylist. I saw Ellen just yesterday and could not be happier! She has great technique, she is up on the current trends, she was able to give me the exact hair color and cut I asked for! As an added bonus it did not take her 4 hours - I want great hair but do not have the patience for a 4 hour hair appointment (come on my hair is short and thin, what would anyone need 4 hours for anyway!) AND my hair looks awesome today, all I did was blow dry it and it fell into place effortlessly! Now that's a good hair cut! The salon itself was comfortable and everyone was friendly. Another great fact about Studio Be is they use all Paul Mitchell products - PM has never tested on animals and has made a commitment to keep it that way! Studio Be is so the place to be! read more

I used this salon for about a year and a half, and continued to go each time because I liked the vibe of the place and how lively and nice it all was. My stylist was always very friendly. Despite all of this, I gave up on StudioBe a couple of months ago. I was tired of the constant, intense up-sell of products and services. I would schedule a $40 haircut, and ended up paying at least $90 each time, often for services that I assured my stylist hadn't worked the first two times and she insisted would perform miracles this time around on my frizzy, dry hair. I also got very sick of being told to dye, straighten, or perm my hair every time I went in. I just wanted a good cut that would make my hair manageable the way it naturally is, and I never got that there. Still disappointed! read more

I have yet to find a stylist in Fort Collins that I love. I moved to CO five years ago, yet I still run to my stylist back home every time I need a cut. My old stylist tells me over and over to find someone who has great hair and ask them where they get their hair cut. So I do. And most likely they say Studio Be. That's awesome, but I guess I need specific names because the last time I came in I showed the stylist a picture of a simple layered look. Well, the stylist got started on me late (normally understandable, it happens, but I had a previous dinner engagement after the appt), so by the end of the cut and color I really needed to go and didn't have time to explain to her what I didn't feel was working with the cut. I went home and complained to my husband for a few days, and he kept encouraging me to go back and have them fix it because I did pay good money to have it done. So, I called, set up a time to see the stylist again, already feeling a little embarrassed about it. As soon as I got there, the stylist started exclaiming about how about beautiful and great my hair looked (um, did anyone tell her I didn't like it?), and it was almost like she was trying to make sure the other stylists heard that my hair, was in fact, beautiful even though I was there for a fix. It wasn't a big fix, I simply didn't like the weight of the layers she had cut, but I didn't appreciate being made to feel like it was my fault that it wasn't working or that I didn't know what I was talking about. The fix was fine, but I still went home to my old stylist to have her fix the fix. :) Maybe someday I will find someone at Studio Be who I want to return to....someone just tell me their name! And I should add...I only post this now because I am once again in need of a cut, and have called the beloved Studio Be. Left a message four hours ago and still no call back. read more

i get my haircuts here. they are really great, and very friendly. i get my hair cut by whitney. she is very friendly, and always makes sure i leave with how i want my hair to be. i also go in to get my bangs trimmed in between haircuts. i love how they give you hair treatments with every cut. i would recommend them to anyone. they are very reasonably priced, and although their space is small, i know they are upgrading to the old police station next door. can't wait to go in in a couple weeks for my next trim! read more

I've been seeing Sarah at Studio Be for about a year now. I get a cut, full color and highlights from her every time I go in. When I first visited Studio Be I wasn't sure if it was the place for me, I've never been one to spend more than $60 getting my hair done, and coming in every 8 weeks?! Forget it! Well that was the old me-after seeing Sarah the 1st time she steered me in the perfect direction for my cut and color, now every time I go in Sarah knows just what I want and we even make little adjustments now and then that make me fall in love with my hair all over again. Their washroom experience is awesome! I'm in love with the scalp massage and the steam towel under my neck! This last time I saw Sarah I received a free Keratin treatment and my hair felt so wonderful afterwards. They will try to up sell their products but I've never been bothered by it, I just politely say no I have what I need and they leave it at that. After all it is part of their job so you really cant harp on them too much for trying to sell things The only thing that even somewhat bothers me is that it would be much nicer if each stylist had their own station to be at rather than having to move around all of the time but really that's just an inconvenience, not that big of a deal. GO to Studio Be and see Sarah or one of their other amazing stylists, I bet that you'll love it! read more

This place has a great atmosphere, the wash room in particular is lovely and the scalp treatment is amazing (depending on the stylist giving it). I like the fun and trendy vibe the whole place has and the products (while the pushing is a little much) are most often worth the price. The people are so helpful and friendly and I love the expansion to two sites- it makes the wait for an appt. so much shorter. With such an amazing set up, I would give a five star rating but the three is representative of my lack of happiness with my cuts. I love the stylists but I haven't had a cut that I left satisfied with. I feel with all the chaos in the salon my requests aren't really being heard and I get a lackluster cut for the cost. I am on a budget and the price is a stretch for me when I'm not happy with the results. While I LOVE Lorraine, the perm she gave me did nothing for my hair. It looked exactly the same within two days. I would totally recommend that salon but maybe be totally clear with your needs.
