It's a 1-man show, kept us enthralled with his intelligent, engrossing, thought-provoking dialogue about his relationship with those he loves, and the connection between love, God, spirituality, etc. Outstanding production at the Horowitz Center for the Arts at Howard Community College. Who would've thought that a top tier, certainly as good as anything in DC--was in the burbs, but it is--and well worth seeing. We've also seen a baroque music concert at the same Center for the Arts, and it was first-class as well. Check it out--less crowds, we found an excellent Vietnamese pho restaurant close-by, world class performances!

We were so lucky he agreed to drive well outside of his usual area to perform. His illusions were mesmerizing, and he expertly handled a room full of inquisitive and skeptical kids by getting most of them involved in his performance. He gave a great message in the end of the performance also, drawing on the themes of inclusion and acceptance from the Harry Potter stories, which the adults present also mentioned as being a highlight. We cannot say enough great things about his professionalism and performance and we would highly recommend him for any event!

He then put on a 45-50 minute show for all of us, and included some guests, my father, and us in the show! He's a guitarist from Italy and plays a three neck guitar, look him up on You Tube! His fingers are almost alien like how he hits those cords! I'm not sure where Owning Mills is but I have a car with navigation so I'll figure it out. I always have a little push back, the security guard checking everyone's vaccination status (who has a gun on his belt??) says my NY state Vaccine card on my cell isn't recognized. I tell him to get his boss to come up front. The theater director approached the main doors. I explain I'm from New York and.. "this is how we do it.." (dance break) He says not a problem Bill S. Enjoy the show. Once inside, what a beautiful theater! I purchases the first aisle seat (for guy spreading) second row and I have a great view of the stage. The acoustics were spot on and the lighting for the performance was also professional. Nice job Gordon Center crew! My son is a sports kid whose best friend had been taking camps with CCTA for years he finally…read moretalked him into it. He took the camp & LOVED it! He NEVER would get up and speak in front of others in class or sing at church in the youth programs it took a lot of coaxing to do this camp. Gerald one of the instructors was the best he helped him feel right at home helped him to build his self confidence even played Basketball with him on breaks. He enjoyed all the kids and wanted to go everyday. I couldn't have been more proud to watch him at his performance. What a change. He truly benefited from this camp and will speak in front of groups and give presentations at school and church without hesitation. GO CCTA and thank you Gerald!

Customer service was wonderful from the box office, to the concessions, to the ushers. I was also easily able to find parking on the street a short walk away. This 1 (wo)man play was highly entertaining and inspiring. It's a story of self-discovery at a time when racial tension & ignorance were at an all time high. We sat front and center but there is no bad seat in the house. Everyman Theatre has been delivering high quality performances over 30 seasons. They have a professional cadre of actors who perform on a regular basis throughout the season. Additionally, community access & engagement are also cornerstones of this theatre. Each play has "pay what you choose" tickets available so finances won't be a problem. Sad, I'm really late to the party. However, Go! Check out a play, take a class, become a sponsor, and donate!!! From singing to costuming to choreography, each performer gave everything to the audience. Since this is a theater in the round in a very intimate setting, I had my concerns that I would be in a section in which the performers had their backs to me. Quickly I realized that the seasoned cast is skilled at playing to each side and the staging wouldn't inhibit anyone's view. I purchased tickets with a partial view ( Row 4), and felt that my view from there was better than many Broadway shows I've attended. I did not find them to inhibit the show in any way, and the leg room was spacious. I really enjoy watching the support cast (chorus) and in this show particularly their roles were important to every element and integrated into the foreground. This is something you often don't see in traditional shows where the leads are foreground and the chorus is just left to be background noise. Great job by all. The theater is located near some eateries and an ice cream shop, but take advantage of this before the show. I felt every single person headed right to the ice cream shop after the show, and some of the eateries closed just as we exited at 9:00pm on a Sunday.

I have already rated the theater facility/building as great so I won't go into much more detail about that. Although here goes - the building's entry is grand, the lobby is welcoming and exciting and the ushers/staff are friendly and first rate. The performance of Pippin that I saw was likewise first rate. Signature Theatre has taken a show I have seen multiple times in the past, and freshened it up. A lot! Presented in the round - which I normally do not like - it presents like live-action happening right in front of your eyes for the 1st time. And the theater is small enough that I felt immersed in the action! Indeed, several times, players would come right up into the seats and interact with me and other audience members. It really made the show seem like a story being presented for first time, spontaneously, right in front of me. And, the performances were so fresh, so intense that I felt that each and every emotion/action was directed only to me. Very nicely staged! The quality of talent in this show is also noticeable. Particular kudos to the man who portrayed Pippin. The ensemble too was Broadway caliber. The dancing in particular was exhilarating! I felt every kick and twist. Fosse lives in this production! This show is old, however, having been first conceived in the early 1970's. But there was very little that was tired or old or vintage. It was fresh and cutting edge. The Signature production was unlike any of the other presentations of Pippin I have seen. The actors' entrances came in from the audience entrances - all 4 corners of the theater - and it was enthralling. The close proximity made every actor seem like they were talking/singing just to me. It was the kind of show that you really need to see more than once because there is so much going on all at once. Bravo to the Signature Theatre once again!

The following is a review of my ticket purchase not the Olney' Theater. Hoping this serves as a warning to all. This review is ONLY about buying tickets!!! Somehow when purchasing tickets for a recent show, I ended up on a site GoTickets. Bought the tickets for 2 and only when I printed them did I see that I had paid $244 for tickets that the face value is $54/ea or $108 total . So I spent $136 more then priced!!! Talk about feeling like an idiot! So .... I have no problem with companies making money. But this is ridiculous!! BTW the performance was not sold out we were the only people in our section. So Buyer Beware. The theater is lovely.

The hilarious plot, the voices, the costuming, the orchestra--perfection!! I may have to go back for another round, this time with family members. I also highly recommend Carla Hall's Please Underestimate Me. I saw it twice, once with my husband and once with my daughter and would happily go back a third time. Lots of laughs interspersed with emotional vulnerability. The show has been extended for two weeks, which should tell you all you need to know.
