I'm so disappointed by how rapidly Star Pilates has plummeted under new ownership. I've been a…read moreclient for 4 years and I had high hopes when I found out it was being sold. And that was with absolutely zero complaints about it under the old ownership. The former owner was very nice, warm and accommodating, albeit a little hands off. And rightfully so! The staff / instructors were top notch and had great following. I was looking forward to some new energy, maybe a few new classes and an improved effort at bringing in more and younger clients. (No disrespect to the older clients as they are what built the business and helped keep me motivated!) Under the new ownership, however, the only improvement has been in the aesthetics. The new paint and new floors cannot camouflage flaws in the new owner's management style and professionalism (or lack thereof). The new owner seems to be a bit of a control freak (locking the thermostat is just one of the really weird things she has done and who wants to work out in a stuffy hot box?). I was also witness to interactions too numerous to keep track of between her and staff members and clients that were not only awkward but rude and disrespectful. Interactions that would have been either or both in any business setting, but in front of me and other clients just made it that much worse. And so much for my hope for more and younger clients. Not only is that not happening but now my friends have stopped going and my instructors have left too! It's such a shame that she already lost her top 3 trainers. They weren't only amazing trainers with lots of energy, dynamic personalities but they are just really great people all around... the kind of people you want to work out with AND hang out with. I can only imagine the difficulty the new owner will have in replacing them. But then again, she probably won't need to because like me, others will find better places to spend their time and money. UPDATE - isn't it slightly fishy that there weren't any recent reviews prior to my honest review above until today ... such a random coincidence, I think not. Sorry to fellow yelpers who rely on this sight for honest reviews from honest people and real clients. Any business owner can ask their friends to write reviews.

At that time, I was either dancing and/ or running every day of the week. Once I began taking class, I noticed a difference in how my body held itself up; my core strengthened and my performance in my other activities improved. The Bar Method strengthens the entire body through small isometric movements, using your own body weight, as well as small handheld weights. After you work each body part, you stretch it; the practice leads to increased muscle strength, as well as greater flexibility. The practice focuses on alignment and posture, so while the hour long workout is rigorous, it is also low impact and exceedingly safe. In 2020, I moved back to Walnut Creek and had my daughter. Two years later, I returned to Bar Method and felt the classes helped me reconnect to my body. Making carrying around a squirrelly toddler much easier. Not only that, but the studio brought with it a sense of community, and the onsite childcare made my re-entry to Bar a possiblity. The co-owners, Chelsea and Audrey, are delightful human beings. They set the tone for the studio. The instructors are brilliant, many of whom have been teaching there for over ten years. It's an inclusive, welcoming environment. I could not recommend more whole heartedly.

Immediately 2 more employees that were there stand up and said we need to do this now! While talking , several other gym members check in after me and most didn't have a profile picture either but we're not asked to do one nor they were stopped , as I was , to enter the facility. I personally knew one of the persons who checked in while I was talking with the 3 employees at the front desk, and she didn't have a profile picture I saw it on one of the front desk computers. Out of nowhere, another guy showed up , I am not sure he was an employee or not, asking to show them my ID , so they can identify me. I said ok, I can show you my ID. I felt like I am a criminal, passing LAX security guards. When I show my Driver License , an employee took a picture of my driver license without asking me. He was only supposed to verify my identity not take a picture of my driver license! Many other members checked in at the gym , while we were talking and none of them that didn't have a picture on their account was stopped or asked for a picture, only me, I was singled out! Forma , you should train better your employees to be more polite and respectful towards the members who pay their salaries! And think twice before you hire disrespectful teenagers who think they own the company! Very disappointing experience. The way Forma Gym employees treated me appears extremely selective--some people are repeatedly singled out and bothered over minor issues, while others are given a free pass for doing the exact same things. Rules should be applied consistently and fairly to everyone, not enforced only against particular people. Professionalism means treating every customer equally and respectfully. Management should take a closer look at how these situations are handled, because this kind of inconsistent treatment creates a very unfair and uncomfortable environment.

Ya'll this place will get you in shape in no time. I tried the Lagree class. The instructor was so nice and allowed me to switch over from the Climb x Boot Camp class when I showed up. I was also able to purchase a pair of grippy socks onsite for about $10. The music was good, the lingo will take sometime to learn, but I appreciated the instructor coaching me and helping to position me in the right position, and gave me words of encouragement. There was only 7-8 ppl in the class so I wonder what it's like when it's full. I appreciated the work out bc it challenged me to push myself just a bit more. I had a good sweat and worked my upper body to the point where my arms were going to give out on me, half way through but I kept pushing just a little more. I appreciated that there was no pushy sales person trying to get me to purchase a membership. Now I can give it sometime and a proper think. Everyone was pleasant and professional from the staff to the members in the room. Nicolette was subbing from Danville and she was a great instructor. Provided me with a quick history about how Lagree was established. I definitely hope to come back and try the climber/boot camp class.

Returning to the Megaformer even after hundreds of classes is still a VERY humbling experience. The slow and intentional movements of the Lagree method have left me with Bambi legs on multiple occasions. On days I need more cardio, I take the Climb X Bootcamp classes, which also give me an effective full-body strength workout. CB Fit is always constantly adding, modifying, and evolving with the times. Whether they're adding new equipment, upgrading to the Lagree 2.0 format, or incorporating client feedback, their constant commitment to improvement is why I'll definitely keep showing up.

Attendance at her virtual classes has been great which makes it fun, notwithstanding the fact that you end up using speaker view on Zoom to watch Lynda and not anybody else. Virtual classes has been great because you don't have to spent time driving to your workout. It's also great if you'd rather not have anyone else in the class looking at you because everyone is watching Lynda. Lynda has one hour classes as well as half hour workouts throughout the week at various times, so it's easy to catch a workout. i'm beginning to wonder if when the pandemic is over, whether she will still have workouts on-line because virtual workouts seem to work so well. What makes Lynda's classes special is not just her wonderful personality and enthusiasm, but the fact that she is a professional dancer with a degree from UCSB in Dance, plus a lifetime of experience in dance and Latin music.
