I was devastated when TruFusion SF closed last weekend, as it was my favorite fitness studio in the city. I've tried several other fitness studios in SF, but nowhere comes close to comparing with TruFusion with its extensive class offerings, motivating instructors who made classes so fun that I got hooked on them, and pristine facilities. However, I'm happy that the Walnut Creek location exists to fill the void. While it's not as convenient as the SF location was since I have to commute from the city, I'm still super grateful and know it's so worth it. My first time taking a class at the Walnut Creek studio, I arrived after my class started due to some traffic slowdowns. I was fully aware of the studio's "no late entry" rule, so I asked if there was anything I could do and explained my situation. The front desk staff were extremely kind and offered to switch me to a different class that hadn't started yet. I ended up taking a hot power vinyasa class, something I hadn't gotten around to at the SF location. I was a little apprehensive, since I don't know the names of all the yoga positions, but I needn't have been concerned. The instructor gave clear instructions at a reasonable pace, and at no point was I confused. I'm so impressed and definitely want to take a vinyasa class again. It looks like, for the foreseeable future, I will be spending my weekend mornings getting my sweat on and feeling the burn at TruFusion Walnut Creek. Can't wait to take more classes!

I loved the hot mat Pilates classes-they were challenging and a great workout! Lindsay is one of my favorite instructors. There's a reason her classes were always fully booked! I've also taken a class with Gaby after a long break and it was great. I like that they provide classes later on in the day on weekends. The heat really made me sweat, and the showers and amenities were a nice bonus. Be prepared with a mat, small towel, and water. Unfortunately, they're no longer on ClassPass, which I rely on since I travel often, so I probably won't return unless they rejoin which I really hope they do!

My first class here was the HIIT class and I had so much fun that I decided to join the unlimited plan for $99 the first month. Been coming here a couple of times a week since. Hot pilates is really intense but it's worth it! All the instructors here have been so kind and fun. I never felt like I didn't belong. The bathroom is always so clean and I like that they have the basic necessities stocked up for us girlies. Also free parking is a plus in downtown Walnut Creek! Overall I highly recommend this studio if you want to get into doing hot yoga, Pilates, or hiit. I haven't tried any other classes besides those but regardless they're really fun imo.

This one is for people looking for a little more insight other than the commonly praised music, community, and coach (all which I agree with of course!). Some context, I was a regular to Crunch classes and was looking for a place with heavier lifting and more of a challenge. All of my workouts are morning ones, either the 5:30 or 6:30. The evening ones and teachers I'm less familiar with but everyone is great. That said, I do think these workouts are best for those with some exercise experience under their belts. We do various exercises which helps keep things interesting, but there's a lot of basics (deadlift, chest press, squats etc) that would be helpful to know prior to coming. You can still be a beginner though and even someone completely new to everything will be welcomed with open arms. Also, get the app and be sure to book classes through there. The workouts are fast paced, and the very first few might feel like you've walked into a tornado. The coaches start with a warmup and then will give you a rundown of all the workouts before starting. It's a real test of memory , but if you forget, others and the coaches will always help. We count on each other for that. Each day is a different workout with a unique purpose, but they generally are medium-high intensity and HIIT (high intensity interval training) or AMRAP (as many reps as possible) style. I'll go over them, but keep in mind these are the 5:30/6:30am classes. The late morning and pm classes are probably the same but I can't really speak for them. MONDAY - Upper and Lower - this is a time to get a full body strength session in, and is my favorite day. No cardio, just the opportunity to go a little heavier. The coach is currently Cierra and she's amazing. So fun, knowledgeable and kind. TUESDAY - SWEAT - cardio lovers, this is one for you. It's the most despised one for me and many others , but the highest calorie burner and a key day to work on agility and those fast twitch muscles. WEDNESDAY - Booty Blast - don't let the catchy name deceive you , this will have your whole lower body burning. It's a day when we go heavy on legs. Usually done in an AMRAP style, this one is a good one to find a group with similar experience and weights. THURSDAY - Cardio, Core Chest, and Triceps - this is a good one if you want a little taste of the cardio work, but also get a solid chest and tri workout. FRIDAY - Back, Biceps, Shoulders, Core - another welcome strength day that feels like a nice relief from the higher intensity work. You will still sweat, don't worry. SATURDAY - AMRAP - it's a full body strength and cardio session. Again, the AMRAP style is most optimal if you look for a group in a similar strength and fitness since you will all be using the same weights and moving through them quickly. Expect all classes to start with a 5 min warmup, and then end with everyone sharing responsibilities of spraying down the equipment and sometimes putting it away. Chris, the head coach is really great. He's very kind, easy to work with, and really knows his stuff. I am constantly impressed with how well balanced the workouts are, and how he manages to keep it interesting and fun! The gym is also very clean, and there's ample parking. I haven't done a dexa scan in a while, but in the first 6 months I lost 5.6% body fat and gained 2lbs of muscle. I'm only ~110 lbs for reference. Overall, I recommend Everfit if you're looking for a spot that is consistent yet interesting and fun. The community IS great, and even though there's not a lot of time to chat, Chris hosts social events and I know a lot of people that have found very solid friendships through the classes. Come try it out! There is a 7 days for $7 pass on their website, or some people use class pass to see if it's a good fit. Hope to see you there!

I have to say out of all the gyms I've been to: FBBC, UFC, Planet Fitness, The Camp, and many other local family owned gyms, Concord fitness boot camp aka Fit Body Boot Camp concord has been the absolute best! I lost weight but the change was not just in appearance. I actually felt stronger and could notice the difference in my strength. My energy and endurance was like my teen days. The crazy part is appearance wise this gym has been the least impressive. But Virgil makes the small space functional and you really don't need much more than this. When I showed up for my first trial the location made me hesitant. Virgil's customer service was great and he made me feel welcomed. The other members were friendly and there were all ages and body types. I stayed and loved it. Everyone was extremely helpful and motivating. They all push you to finish your reps, to keep moving and not quit, and if you struggle they make you feel okay with modifying while teaching you ways to work on it until you can one day do what you're struggling with. It was hard but it seemed like within days my body learned how to handle doing sit ups and push ups. Another major part is nutrition. Virgil helped me with a shopping list and meal ideas. He is respectful but also doesn't sugar coat. With each weigh in he reminded me what I needed to do to stay on track. I also learned how to count calories. If I still lived in the area I would see about joining again. If I didn't give it 5 stars it is solely because of the cost. When I went it cost around by $300/month. Is it worth it? Yes. Is it affordable and feasible? No. I could not keep up going there as it was too much for my budget. Pictures for comparison of cheeks and chin when I first started in March to September

The women's locker room doesn't even have a sauna. Instead, it has filthy floors, poorly maintained showers that don't drain, and standing water collecting around your feet while you shower. It's unsanitary, disgusting, and completely unacceptable for a gym charging premium membership fees. I tolerated these conditions for months before finally deciding enough was enough and canceling my membership. Unfortunately, the cancellation process was even worse than the locker room. I canceled my membership, yet Forma put me into a "soft cancellation" and quietly started charging me again three months later. I didn't realize it immediately, and by the time I caught the charges, they had collected months of membership fees. Rather than refunding money they never should have taken, they offered me free months at the same gym I had already chosen to leave. That is not customer service--it's a refusal to take responsibility. Between the neglected women's facilities and the way my cancellation was handled, I left feeling that Forma cares far more about collecting membership fees than providing the premium experience it advertises. Jena's classes were all about YOUR personal best, and getting YOU to the next level, whatever that was. Class was different each day, and that was cool. If there was one day that was lower body intense, we'd do upper body the next. We took advantage of a lot of cool spots around Heather Farms Park. Now, let's get real. 5:30 am class comes around REALLY quickly. I was getting up at 5:00 to be there on time. I was also in bed, with a sleeping mask because it was still light out, between 8-9:00 pm. But I LOVED the feeling of getting my workout done before work. I felt like by 8:00, rolling into the office, my brain was ready to go. Since my Groupon has expired, I'm trying to figure out what's next for me. Unfortunately, East Bay Fitness doesn't fit into my budget right now. But I loved it while it lasted. Thank you Jena!!

I love East Bay Fitness Boot Camp!…read more The reality check: it has to be great for me to get up at 4:45am to make a 5:30 class! And it is...Jena is fantastic, and she manages to get you a great overall workout, most of the time before you even know what's hit you. Classes are fun, outdoors, lots of variety, and a great group of women. Jena does a great job keeping us challenged at a variety of fitness levels and I love the overall body toning (who knew I had those shoulder and arm muscles?) plus enough cardio to keep your heart rate up and burning calories. Jena is also great about encouraging us to set and achieve our goals and recently got some of us to sign up and train for a 5-10K. Boot camp gives you a great feeling of accomplishment before the sun even comes up and tons of energy throughout the day. Come join us!
