Driving from 1.5 hours away, and being given this email *2 hours before my appointment received the email at 10:30 am with a 12:45 appointment and was told that they had my incorrect email prior, have zero missed calls and zero voicemails* , I rushed out the door. With it raining heavily on the highway, there was a lot of traffic and I got delayed for my appointment. I pulled up to the salon, and they not only refused to see me, but turned their backs away from me in the window, and I was told over the phone that I would be charged a full 120.00 service fee for arriving behind *due to a situation which was out of my control. And now I'm being called entitled by the owner. Would understand if it was fees applied to a future booking, as nothing in their website COVID policy states that this is not an option.* Let me also note that I tried to call multiple times *at least 3x* before my appointment time started to notify them but their phone was off the hook, so I had to email. I told them I only needed a light trim, could skip the blowout, etc. but they said no, and refused my business. They then proceeded to book me for another appointment and I asked if they could help apply some credit to the next appointment. Again was refused. *Even though there's no a policy in place that says this is not an option. I had my lawyer look over it as well to confirm.* *I had pulled up to the salon to enter and they called my phone as I was outside to cancel. I was in my car and waved politely, and am being told that made the staff "uncomfortable" by even showing up? I had an appointment! I wasn't even allowed to walk in and discuss a rebooking with them. I was super polite about it and gave multiple opportunities to amend the situation. Still waiting for this to be amended, but not holding out any hope here.* Now I just got a notification about my next appointment being cancelled (without me asking to cancel it). *The salon assumed, and is now stating they don't want my business because I'm not 100% happy with how things went down. I wouldn't want them to cut my hair now anyhow, I'm very particular with who touches my head, and wouldn't trust them after this event.* *I asked to speak to the owner to resolve this peacefully and was denied. Courtney I know you are seeing this.. would love to hear from you - please call me to resolve this peacefully.* This place is rude, unprofessional, and I would never recommend going here *if you value good business ethics, this place is not for you.* Worst customer service ever. *I tried to do a good thing in supporting a small business in a difficult time, and I'm being called entitled by the owner multiple times. The response I received felt curt and dismissive, which left a bad impression, but I decided to let it go and simply try a different stylist next time. Unfortunately, the color service was also disappointing. While the shade was close to what I wanted, the application itself was uneven. At one point, another stylist had to mix more dye because there wasn't enough prepared initially, but the second batch clearly wasn't the same tone. As a result, my roots ended up noticeably lighter than the rest of my hair, despite it being intended as one uniform color. Now, two months later, I tried booking another appointment for a trim and highlights. I called multiple times over three days with no answer and also sent an email that went unanswered. Out of curiosity, I called from a Google number, and while they still didn't answer, that was the only number they called back. I genuinely liked Shizen for years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. But after the poor service, dismissive communication, and now being seemingly ignored altogether, I'll gladly be taking my business elsewhere.

I agreed to pay, but she said she was too tired and told me to come back the following week. I was charged $60 for the trim, and my mom paid $85 for her haircut. I left upset and later reached out to schedule a fix, but she couldn't fit me in for two weeks and was rude. I ended up paying $200 elsewhere to have it corrected, plus additional money on products to help my bangs grow out. What was meant to be an affordable haircut turned into a stressful and expensive experience. I also question the professionalism of scheduling clients so late if stylists are overworked and exhausted.... leading them to make mistakes that they are 'too tired to correct'. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as the quality and professionalism that evening were far below expectations. Anyways... Kimberly at Fox and Jayne in the lower east side fixed my hair after it got butchered here if anyone needed a rec for a hairdresser!

My best friend went here in the service she got was not good at all. Jaz kept talking about the quality of her bundles the whole time my friend was at the shop and there was nothing wrong with my friend hair quality. Jaz was talking on her phone the whole time and while Jaz was on the phone she was talking shit about my friend and when my friend look at Jaz she hung up the phone , and barley answered my friend questions. Jaz kept getting upset when my friend was asking her how to maintain the weave and Jaz told my friend its 2021 you should know how to maintain weave . Jaz did not do my friend hair like she ask and she did not do the leave out correctly, after a week my friend hair was coming out and yes Jaz offer to fix it but why is multiple tracks coming out after a week and my friend did not go because Jaz does not know how to do hair properly. Jaz did not even offer my friend a refund and the last time my friend spoke to Jaz she was very rude and she told my friend that leave out and edges have nothing to do with her ,but why is it that my friend had to fix her leave out after she left the shop because Jaz did not do it correct and please do not waste your time, energy or money going here and she very racist and rude be careful guys. Where do I start? Jasmine has been my hair stylist for the last three years, and I can honestly say I am so glad that she is. Jasmine always does my sew-ins and I love how neat her work is. When she braids my hair for my sew-ins I'm never worrying about my hair being braided too tight and breaking off because she makes sure I'm comfortable with how she braids. I've lost count of how many styles she's done for me- they've all been so good. I also love how well she cuts my hair. She's a stylist that understands how to "trim" your ends and not give you a damn hair cut lol-- big kudos for that! Jas just did my hair last week, and I'm so happy with how much my natural hair is growing! I admire her talent and her professionalism. My cousin went here to get her weave done and 1 week later her weave was coming out and Jaz is money hungry and she does not know how to do hair correctly. The whole time my cousin was there all she did was make fun of the quality of her weave and when my cousin ask her tips on how to maintain a weave because she has not had a weave and years ,Jaz told her she should know how to do it and she refuse to answer my cousin question. I have had so many awful experiences with stylists doing my hair in a way that they thought was best. I initially went to the salon in the spring of 2019 in preparation for my engagement shoot. I'm natural and wanted my hair pressed with clip-ins for my photos. I'll admit the consultation took a while but that is because Noël really wants to understand your hair! She was honest, took in my considerations (I really needed it cut, but didn't want to right before the photos!) and helped me get some high-quality extensions for my shoot. Following that, I became a regular as my goal was to really grow it as much as possible for my upcoming wedding. This involved a few cuts, several Emergency repair treatments, and ultimately she recommended a keratin treatment to help with my curl manageability and improve growth (I have more kinky, coarse hair). After a year, my hair grew to its longest point and actually past the length of the clip-ins I ordered a year prior. The few times I have gotten it straightened my curls have always come back! I went rogue one time when I couldn't get in and got it straightened at another salon and unfortunately experienced some heat damage - never again, but we are nursing them back :) During COVID she has continued to do virtual appointments when I can't come in, consulted me on various treatments and my wash routine, and shipped me products as I have since moved out of state. My hair continues to experience tremendous growth with the products I order from the salon and I am looking forward to being a regular again once it is safe to travel more freely! While the services are on the pricier side, I am willing to make the investment. I can honestly say, you get what you pay for at NNY. Right off the bat every employee was super nice, friendly, kind, and sweet. My questions were answered quickly, yet detailed and professional, each receptionist was very kind. I was given tea, and treated wonderfully while getting my hair done and even after. I will say though, they are on a bit of the pricey side. I usually pay $45.00 for a regular wash and press, but I payed nearly $70 at Noel's. It's okay though, because it was all worth it! My hairstylest Harley was super sweet, she made sure I left looking fabulous, and she really worked her magic! I got to meet the owner as well who makes you feel right at home. What I love the best is that she was always able to color match my sew-in's to my leave out perfectly they were always seamless. She is going to get your hair healthy and make sure you leave satisfied. Many stylist today can't be call true stylist as you need to come prep prior to select services. This is not one of those salons you get your moneys worth.

I felt very cared for both in the scheduling process and during the actual appointment -- the vibe of the shop is so relaxing and everyone there is really an expert and gave me so much helpful advice.
