I opted to get a silk press because my silk press season is over by the time it's consistently 70+ degrees and want to get my hair pressed as many times as I can safely. I am almost fully gray (started at 11 yrs) and I live my hair color so e just focused on my hair health. We spoke first, about what my expectations are and what regimen I use. We went over everything, from products to schedules and how I style my hair at home. She started the process and went over everything that she was using, why she was using it and what it would do for my hair. She meticulously styled my hair and cut it into a shape that fit me and while it was a bit overwhelming, the look was already growing on me by the time we finished. The whole time, we talked like we were old friends because she's very personable. This was, by far, one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. She told me what I need to do at home to maintain what she's started in the salon. She emailed the products that she used so that I can recreate the styling process at home. I'm thankful for her time and dedication to the craft. A stylist can only give you the tools to assist you in your journey. You have to put in the effort to maintain so that you're successful at reaching your desired outcome. Very easy to make an appointment and find the shop. I went to Dickey for a new color and cut! What I loved about the experience is that you get to feel special like a celeb lol. Didnt have to say much of how I wanted my hair and Dickey just worked his magic and gave me an awesome manageable cut. He educates you during the process giving tips for your hair texture and how to maintain moisture etc. He also gave great pointers for how to get poppin' curls. If I didnt move across the world after my first experience with Hair Rules I would have definitely been a regular customer. I must say though I loove loove lovvee the quench ultra shampoo/conditioner. Its seriously like no other product. I was using ogx prior (and when I run out of hair rules) but his products really are moisturizing. Great slippage, non-drying. I dont feel like the oils of my hair are stripped upon application and I swear even with the conditioner alone my curls are well defined. I typically add a little curly whip at the end which keeps my hair frizzless (?) lol. The only product I had trouble using after my salon visit was the blow it out cream. I just felt it made my hair sticky even using a dime sized amount so unfortunately that product has been sitting on my shelf :(

She told me she paid $55. When I called to make the appointment, I specifically asked about the price because the website listed cuts as "$45 and up." I explained that my daughter only needed a trim and that her hair was chin-length. I was quoted $55 over the phone and was told that Kendra would be her stylist. The haircut itself was a very simple trim. There was no significant change to the shape or style, and the service did not involve an elaborate haircutting process. My daughter was also left under the dryer for quite some time while the stylist continued working with other clients. I had explained that we were in a hurry, as I needed to pick up my other children, so the amount of time the appointment took was particularly difficult for me. When it was time to pay, I was told that the total was $99. I explained that I had specifically been quoted $55 by phone the day before. I was told that the price would not be adjusted. Because I was already very late and needed to leave, I paid the $99 rather than prolong the situation. Before leaving, I explained that I would be calling back to address the discrepancy because I had been given a different price when I made the appointment. I left several voicemails over the next four days but did not receive a response. I eventually received an email from Alexandra Lugo in response to my own email. She stated that the price would not be changed and that my family was no longer welcome at the salon. I am sharing this review because I believe customers should be able to rely on a price that is quoted to them when making an appointment, or at minimum be informed in advance if the price will be substantially different. I also believe that concerns about billing should be addressed through clear communication rather than leaving a customer to repeatedly follow up. My experience was disappointing, particularly because I had gone to Filament based on a personal recommendation and was looking forward to the appointment. I would simply encourage anyone making an appointment to confirm the exact price of the service in advance and make sure that any change in price is discussed before the service is performed. This whole thing made me really angry at first, and then just sad, because it felt like a robbery. I didn't want to have a confrontation in front of my daughter, and it was a special occasion for her. I really didn't think the owner of the salon would NOT honor what I was quoted by her own employee. Super bad experience, please don't go to this salon. O stars. Alexandra Lugo is not a nice lady on the inside, at least from in my experience.
