I booked a blowout for my visit to the city. I have textured hair and a naturally a bit skeptical about get blowouts with new stylists, but Rania was amazing. I could tell within the first few minutes of the blowout that it was going to turn out great. Rania was very receptive to my requests and never made me feel bad about my specific styling needs. 10/10 recommend Rania and the salon. I had a great experience overall! read more

I booked a blowout with an additional charge for hot tools for my friends wedding. Very clean, open and modern salon. Everyone was friendly. I was offered espresso, champagne. I was very comfortable in the salon. The stars are lost because my blowout was a bust. my curls fell before I got off the block and I didn't have any left by the time of my event. this was a disappointment because my bill was nearly $100 ( blowout $60 hot tools $20). I would not book a curly blowout here because I literally could have done it better myself. read more

So I spent basically an entire day at the salon and I couldn't be happier! I got a facial by Dovilé - first facial ever and definitely going back to her. She is so gentle and my skin was GLOWING and has never looked better. After that I did the YUME hair spa ritual which was so relaxing I actually fell asleep while Mariel worked her magic on my hair! If that wasn't enough to make someone's day perfect, I then got my hair cut and colored by Nick. Nick is literally a ray of sunshine and made me so comfortable - I knew I was in great hands. I was basically mesmerized watching him cut and color my hair - he pays so much attention to the technique and he's not happy until you're happy and your hair is perfect. I've already booked my next two appointments with Nick and I've raved about this salon to so many people already and I only left like an hour ago. Great hair color and cut. Stars are lost though because i'm never coming back. They lied to me about my bill and overcharged me. When I was paying at the register I even questioned it but they said that's the price. The receptionist even walked over to the colorist to "confirm" the price. 5 mins later I walked outside and looked at the website to see the prices for the services I got and yep I was overcharged. I called them and told them what I saw and they said yep we will refund you. Yes i got my refund immediately. I think they knew what they were doing and just wanted to make some extra money therefore I felt weird about them and not going to come back to a shady place. read more

I started using this salon about a year ago after using a different very nice salon on the UES for about 10 years. I have been very happy and impressed with Rob Peetom salon! The physical space is beautiful and comfortable, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. It is very convenient to be able to book online and there have been no technical issues with the bookings. I see Hitomi for hair color and she is absolutely outstanding. The first time she did my color I felt like I was looking at my natural hair color as it was when I was 18 (this is what I wanted - natural looking color), something no other colorist has achieved in the last 20 years of my life. She is super professional but also friendly and engaging. Her technical skills are far above what I've experienced even at other very well respected salons. Even if I move back to Manhattan, I will continue coming to this salon. Would strongly recommend. read more

Let me start off by saying I hardly go to Brooklyn but when my stylist let me know he was at a newer salon out there, I knew it was time to get on the L train while I could to go see him! I was not disappointed in the least, Alexander is just so fantastic on all levels. I needed to go a little shorter this time as due to medications/ medical issues I have begun to lose some hair and he made me feel and look like a million bucks. I am a no fuss girl and he gave me something I could handle at home. Just love him. He is so beautiful on the outside and inside. Just a person you want to be near all the time. Also had the pleasure of meeting some other staff members and they were so nice and welcoming. Super informative. I am definitely coming back for the other services, especially the one where it is like a facial for your scalp! The place is just so beautiful, spacious and comfortable with a definite cool vibe. They offer you water, tea and coffee and the coffee is Nespresso, and we all know I love that. They even serve it with a cookie! Just had an AMAZING haircut by Adriana at Rob Peetoom. She gave me the "hot girl hair" I've always wanted. And because she's also a hair educator she took a lot of time to explain the thinking behind her strategy for my hair grow-out plan and she taught me a totally new technique for drying it without a hairdryer and round brush. I was not happy with my previous cut that I had at a different salon back in October. I told Nick that my hair felt "lifeless" since the last cut. The following review is about the INEQUITABLE PRICING BASED ON GENDER, as Im surprised they still categorize by "MEN" and "WOMEN". I understand that longer hair, traditionally women's hair, usually equates to a longer service because it requires a more extensive cut or a gorgeous blowout and I am in agreement that the more intricate the service or experienced the stylist, the price should reflect that. However, as a woman with very short hair, you're asking for $20 and more (not factoring in a higher tip %) simply because of the gendered pricing structure. I presume you have clients who don't identify as cis-gender. I'm asking that your pricing structure be changed to hair length rather than gender for the sake of inclusivity, equity and equality. After all it is 2019, time to break down gender discrimination and eliminate the "pink tax", don't you agree? read more

I was referred to Rob Peetoom by a friend and I couldn't have had a better experience. I've been back multiple times since and every time I leave feeling like a new refreshed person. I'm pretty lazy about writing reviews in general but the experience was so good I have to write something. First, it's definitely the best looking salon I've been to in NYC. As soon as you walk through the door they and make you feel at home. While waiting for your cut you're able to thumb through photo books and magazines while drinking a nice espresso. I'd come here for the espresso alone it's that good. My hair stylist takes the time to understand exactly what I'm after and instead of trying to alter my look (which is pretty typical in NYC), he enhances what I already have, and makes a better looking version of me. I leave getting some of the best cuts I've ever gotten and always leave feeling super confident. Nina Rubel transformed my grown out neglected highlights (thanks Covid). The color is natural and luminous. This salon is my new favorite in all of NYC. I had walked into a Rob Peetoom in Amsterdam a couple of years ago and had a great style and cut so was really happy they opened one here. Nice selection of drinks, snacks, and Davines hair products to go with the cut and the location is beautifully designed. The experience was the same as I remembered and the stylist that I worked with (Linda) is from another location in Holland. I usually let the stylist help decide on my cut so having a really creative person do my hair is important to me. The team all seemed really friendly and will definitely go back.
