Okay folks, my last hair stylist was a master blonder, and after 5-6 sessions with her I still ended up with meh blonding results, not light or near where I wanted to go. I got fed up n dumped purple over it. Anyways, John was able to strip all that and lighten my hair to the lightest shade possible that you can do in one day (mind you, he used the strongest lightener known to man). My hair ended up NOT brittle or melted, it was perfect after toner was added and this ash is the closest I've ever been to silver!! I bet another session will take me exactly where I want. (Mad that I paid over $3k for 5-6 sessions previously with the master blonder and never got anywhere). In a nutshell, I highly recommend this salon. Common trait in these overpriced hair salons, your barber will most likely try to start a conversation with you, which is probably the reason for the extra price you are paying for. My barber didn't really seem to care so much about what I was saying and was seemingly acting out of protocol. Honestly, I would've rather have a 30 min of silence and a reduced price then that blatant example of a forced conversation. As for the haircut itself. She messed up. I found MB grooming in yelp, the cuts looked good so I decided to try it out. Making an appointment was extremely easy, you can do it online or just calling the number and pressing 1. Customer service for booking and barbers are definitely on point. Keith was my barber but Trip was also there, both are friendly, social and skilled. Keith made sure he knew exactly what I wanted before he even picked up the clippers, he talked me through each phase of the cut and explained what he was doing just before doing it to make sure I was ok. As a new client and having been to another shop and having a bad experience I appreciate him taking the time to do that. Even with the walk through he got the job done quickly and gave me exactly what I wanted. I scheduled my next cut before even leaving the shop. Oh and they give complimentary facials on your first cut, being that my sister does facials also I can honestly say it was legit too. I'll probably do the facial once a month. Make sure to try out some of their products, beard, hair and even a CBD based cream that relieves pain in minutes. I tore my hamstring two weeks ago and was in constant pain and this stuff works! I booked well in advance for a retwist, yet BeautyHighlighter/Shanice didn't expect a guest with microlocs and failed to pad in the potential time for such a customer or even create a special appointment on her booking page, otherwise I would have selected it and eliminated the surprise. She complained periodically about that...even admitted out loud that she was complaining...but carried to further cement the sheer joy I felt in her chair as a first-timer. Overall, the experience felt rushed and was painful. I am tender-headed, but I wasn't this uncomfortable in my former loctician's chair like I was here. Since she was in a rush and wasn't thrilled with my microlocs in the first place, I can only surmise that the pain was isolated to this loctician. Even then, I still was going to rebook because she seemed knowledgeable enough to recommend interlocking until I realized that either the sister wasn't alerted to take my clips out or Shanice forgot to mention it in the rush to get out of dodge. Regardless, I was abandoned under the dryer and serviced by the other hairdresser who noticed I was left out in the cold...or heat, rather. When I came home to review my bill, a $20 product charge was tacked on which was not discussed in person OR noted anywhere on the booking page. I also noted on my booking AND in person that I found her through the money mailer...bill did not reflect coupon she was offering either. I was willing to forgo the coupon, even left a 20% tip, but I didn't notice the product charge...maybe I was in a rush to get out of there too. I wasn't going to write this review, but that extra charge finally pushed me over the edge. I regret the booking, but you live and you learn. After strike #2, it really makes me doubt if there are any black hairdressers that take customer acquisition seriously.
