John (Quan) is probably the most humble and meticulous hair dresser I've ever met. He took his time, even told me if he can't achieve something based on experience versus over-promising, which is what I was accustomed to unfortunately. I have coarse Asian hair that has some coloring on already, purple, and I wanted to go to full silver/gray balayage. It took us a good 6 hours but I am so thrilled and happy with the results I must make this review right now! Okay folks, my last hair stylist was a master blonder, and after 5-6 sessions with her I still ended up with meh blonding results, not light or near where I wanted to go. I got fed up n dumped purple over it. Anyways, John was able to strip all that and lighten my hair to the lightest shade possible that you can do in one day (mind you, he used the strongest lightener known to man). My hair ended up NOT brittle or melted, it was perfect after toner was added and this ash is the closest I've ever been to silver!! I bet another session will take me exactly where I want. (Mad that I paid over $3k for 5-6 sessions previously with the master blonder and never got anywhere). In a nutshell, I highly recommend this salon. They are very respectful of everybody's time and needs. They are super talented and too humble imo. Especially since I have dark brown, almost black hair, they didn't rush and even took the time to match the bleaching process. If you are wanting to dye your hair especially with trendy colors, this is the place to go. Not only do they address your concerns but their prices are reasonable. The short version: - So affordable! Cost should really be just one $ sign for a simple haircut. - Asian owned (Vietnamese, I think), so they know how to cut asian hair - Incredible service overall! Longer version: I scheduled directly through Yelp for an appointment only 2 hours later. After extensively researching hair salon reviews specializing in Asian hair in the Richardson area, this seemed to be the best one based on reviews that was an affordable price. I'm normally very wary of salons with significantly below-market service prices, but I'm so glad I took a chance. I had straight, shoulder-length hair, and had it cut (dry) about 2-3" to a long bob for only $25. It was just a bit shorter than I expected, but I'm realizing I like my cut more and more and am very happy with it. I think it'll grow out nicely. Also, based on how Quan was cutting a previous customer's hair, I think this little salon is really great for killer men's haircuts. Aside from the price, Quan is really nice and is a (speedy) perfectionist. He'll make sure you leave with symmetrical hair if that's how the cut's meant to be, and also really understood what I meant by thinning my heavy hair. Most salons I've encountered don't thin my hair as much as I'd like them to. Even better, despite telling him I was just visiting the area (i.e. couldn't be a regular customer), he put a ton of care into my cut. I have been going to rose' s hair salon for more than 5 years, and Rose the owner does an amazing job on my hair. My hair is very long but she takes the time to gently comb and cut my hair. She is also very nice and gives me advice on what hairstyles will be good for me and tries her best to duplicate the styles I want. My boyfriend also gets his haircut by rose and loves it.
