New location (super nearby, between Brothers & B-town Diner), same great people. It's not quite as fancy a space as the old one, but they tried, and I care way more about the quality of the haircut than the interior design of the space anyway. They're taking tons of COVID precautions (cleaning absolutely everything from chair to sink, etc between each guest), spacing clients apart, limiting appointments, etc. Erin, the super talented woman who cuts my hair, told me they plan to keep the cleaning precautions in place even after COVID because it's just good practice. This was my first real haircut in a year and a half. So I had split ends, self trimmed bangs, and was generally looking a mess in her eyes I'm sure haha. She fixed me right up to the usual amazing style she always does. Erin is able to understand the look you're going for and just go to town with it, and has great advice on what would look good if you're indecisive like me. She's fun to talk to but does a good job of also giving some time for you to be quiet and relax. I've been to several salons in Bloomington and this is by far the best one. Especially if you've got wavy hair (like me), curly hair (like one of my friends who has followed Erin to every place she's worked for years because she's that good), or you just like edgy fun cuts in general. I'm sure she can do more traditional styles too, but why do that when you can get something fun instead? read more

I have been a customer for Maria for the past 6 years, and it seems just like yesterday she welcomed me in her chair with open arms and we connected in an instant. I've done several types of extensions over the past 13 years, but after NBR, I honestly could not believe how natural they looked and felt. Overall, I am 100% obsessed with the NBR hair extensions. If you are looking into getting them for length and/or thickness, I highly recommend Maria because not only is she authentic and honest, but she is an amazing artist and the best hair extension artist I've worked with in the Midwest. She was able to get me in within a few days for a cut and balayage and she did an unreal job! She is truly a master of blonde. Jessica was my hairdresser. I asked for a light brown balayage and left with a silver front framing piece and had chunks of color on top of my head where she attempted to start my balayage. I texted her and sent pictures of the mess and not only was she unable to get me in to fix it but also failed to apologize to me. Here's a picture of one of the brassy chunks. I also had two right in front of my hair. Save your money, don't go to her. I had a young lady at Ulta fix my botched hair after I tried to fix it with box dye. read more

Jamie and Maria from Studio M did hair, lashes, and make-up for my wedding day. I cannot recommend them enough! I went to college at IU but now live in Phoenix so I stumbled across Studio M's page while long-distance researching/planning my wedding. I am SO glad I did. They did an amazing job and everyone loved their looks! They not only made everyone look and feel fabulous for the big day but also created a fun and relaxing pre-wedding atomosphere. They did on-site hair/make-up for the wedding day, however, I was able to visit the actual salon for a hair/make-up trial appointment -- it is a gorgeous space with a great location right off the downtown square. Let's see where do I start? With the lying owner or the stylist who can't keep her appointments straight?! I would give them 0 stars if I could. On Monday morning, July 16th I email studio M salon about making an appointment because the website said closed on Mondays. I get an email response back quickly from the owner, Maria. She tells me she will forward my information to two stylist and one of them will get in touch with me. Not long after I get an email from Jessica (a stylist there) in the email she says can you do tomorrow at 5:30? I said yes I can. She proceeds to tell me to text her so she can put me in. So we text. All which I have copies of....we talked about what I'm having done to my hair. Almost $400 worth of things...I drive from Bedford up there today. You have to pay to park, walk in. Finally Maria comes up to me and asks me who my appointment is with and I said Jessica. She said we don't have a Jessica that works here. Are you sure you're in the right place. I said yes but let me check my email, maybe I remembered her name wrong. I'm horrible with names. Maria said what are you having done. I told her and she said oh yea I remember talking with you and I told you Jessica or Hailey would email you. NOW...there is the first red flag?! She just lied to my face and told me they don't have a Jessica that works there! What kind of business owner is she if she is lying to people! Then she proceeds to ask Jessica (who was there) if she had this appointment. She said no it was for tomorrow. So I show them the email and said you said Tuesday at 530. Then she asked me if I can do Wednesday, I said no I have to work now. Can you do Thursday, and I said only if I can first thing and Maria said no it would have to be evenings. That's when I got mad and said never mind I'll go somewhere else. Stay far away from this place! It's dumpy and dirty inside, barely no seating, and the owner is a liar. I will be sure I'm spreading the word about this place and I'm glad to give my money to some other salon. NOT ONLY did I waste my gas and money to pay to park but I wasted my time on my day off which are few and far between. read more
