Toward the end of our tasting we met one of the winery owners, so were able to learn first-hand how decades earlier the family had established a foundry that cast pieces for artists from around the world, and had later expanded into wine-making. My buds were drawn to their two blends: one was a moderately priced $24 and the other was the Saros (a cycle used to predict eclipses of the sun and moon) at $45. Focus on producing great wine = +2 stars. My only gripe was with the object of my affection (a.k.a. the hunky winemaker owner) - he didn't necessarily exude an open/welcoming disposition and wasn't very forthcoming with details about his great product. It was an absolute delight. In the short time I spent there, I learned more about wine than I have in my entire life. Eric was incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful in how he explained everything -- it all just clicked. My husband did a white flight, and I did a red, and together we were able to sample a generous range from their collection. We left with a bottle of Poet's Leap, which we're excited to open soon. The vineyard itself is beautifully set, and while it's a bit of a drive, it's more than worth it. The interiors feature stunning glasswork and have a chic, modern feel -- including the facilities . It's one of my boyfriend's all-time favorite wineries, and it's easy to see why. Bobby is a truly phenomenal and talented "rockstar" status winemaker who is also incredibly personable; we deeply admire how hands on he is from the soil of the vines to the fermentation room.
