Beware this studio is extremely hard to find in an odd location. I've never seen a Pilates building look like this. I missed my class because I couldn't find it unfortunately :( I think I may know where it is now but honestly still unsure , I'd give yourself 20-30 min of just buffer room to find it. This studio is small but that is what I love about it, they definitely take care of each of their clients and personalize each experience. They were right about having options for their class and offer different styles each time you take a class, I have been going for a month and can say you won't take the same class twice, they always do something different with each teacher and each class and it is something I enjoy a lot. I started as a beginner with zero experience and say this has definitely been a good experience to introduce my self to Pilates. I should also note that I live in East Mesa, but it's completely worth it to me to attend classes here. I love the fact that I get a full-body workout every time I come in, and the hour-long classes fly by. I feel stronger, more flexible, calmer, and I actually look forward to my workouts. As a novice to Pilates, I was a bit intimidated by the reformer. Accordingly my first few classes were brutal, but in the weeks since I've become much stronger and am always glad when I attend. Christina is an excellent instructor; friendly, upbeat and quick to make corrections and provide encouragement. The online scheduling system at IMX is pretty neat and super easy to use. Class sizes are small however I almost always get into the class I want by booking one week in advance. For classes that are full there is also a waitlist feature that has worked out in my favor twice now. Quick Highlights: The facility is always clean. Parking is a breeze. Super friendly environment. Very nice! The instructors here are friendly and offer great instruction. I was impressed that they took the time to get to know me and my name (this has not happened at other studios around town.) They have two studios and offer a variety of times and classes every day. Classes include reformer, TRX, yoga and barre. Be warned: TRX will kick your booty... its a good pain! I also never knew you could do so many things on a reformer before coming here. I love that I could find a workout to fit my schedule just about any day and time. Each day they focus on a different muscle group (daily focus changes weekly) and the schedule is posted on their facebook page for viewing ahead of time. Even though there is a focus, you get an overall workout with each session. They have a great bathroom area and changing room in the back which is convenient if you're coming straight from the office. I came here on a 10-class Groupon. I really enjoyed every class I took here and would like to return. Their monthly subscriptions are pricey, even with a long-term commitment. I moved to Phoenix recently and tried out a few pilates studios but didn't really find anything I loved until IMX! I love the reformer classes but also mix it up with the heated mat classes. I can't speak to the other classes offered. I like *most* of the teachers and there are plenty of classes offered daily to fit your schedule. Everyone who works out here is nice too. I just completed a Groupon for 6 Group Classes at IMX Pilates. The studio is easily accessible on 32nd Street and Indian School Road with plenty of parking. It's very clean and inviting. One room is dedicated to the reformers and another for TRX. They even offer spray tanning. My first class was a Basic Fundamentals class with Melissa, the owner. It was a great way to get introduced to the reformer machine and learn the Pilates lingo. Melissa is extremely knowledgeable about Pilates and runs her business very smoothly. Everyone is happy to be there. You can reserve your classes online. They do have a strict cancellation policy, which is actually good since it holds you accountable to show up for your workout! The classes focus on arms, core, legs, stretching and cardio. I found myself working up a sweat in the first 5 minutes! I especially loved my classes with Melissa and Alison. I would highly recommend IMX Pilates. I had a very bad experience at a similar reformer Pilates studio, who shall remain nameless, but I'll give you a hint...they're literally up the street from IMX Pilates in a popular shopping complex next to a bank. So walking into IMX Pilates I was very hesitant and reserved. Melissa was so welcoming and accommodating. It was like a breath of fresh air and completely changed my attitude toward reformer Pilates. After "testing the waters" at other pilates studio, I can truly say this is the best in the PHX valley! Be prepared for some butt-kicking when you go, the jump-boards are both my most hated, while being most loved things. Christina especially gives you an amazing workout, so much that my friend and I nicknamed her "machina"... seriously best workout in an hour for all over tone/strengthening. ALL of the instructors are great and with smaller class sizes (about 8) they can give each person individual attention. Verve is a small studio, but their classes are quality. During the summer I signed up for unlimited classes and have cycled through most of the instructors. Each one has their own style but I can say that every one of them is patient, down to earth, and experienced. The playlists in the classes are also amazing, I definitely can go from having a sense of serenity to kicking butt on my reformer depending on the song- absolutely wish I could just take it home with me. I've tried a ton of other pilates studios in Phoenix and this one is my favorite; I've been doing pilates for a few months now and still feel like a beginner, but the welcoming environment keeps me coming back. read more

I didn't find the classes challenging at all. I left barely feeling like I even moved my body. This is a great studio to bring mom or grandma to, but not good if you are looking for an intense workout. I understand that not every class can be intense, and that there is a place for lighter workouts. My reason for giving one star isn't that the class was too "easy" for me. It is that the instructor I saw was very rude and almost mean. It was my first class at the studio (but not my first pilates class). When I walked in, she asked me if I had done pilates before, and I said yes. I told her the name of the studio I'd been to before. She responded with "what they do isn't REAL pilates." I was a little insulted because one of my good friends teaches at the other studio. When I tried to modify some of the things she was cueing in class to work better for issues I have with my body, she actually came up to me and told me I couldn't modify. What? In what world can't I go to a pilates class and modify as needed? Anyways, I had a very poor experience and will not be back. read more

DON'T BE SCARED!!! Even if I worked out enough to have broad perspective, I'm extremely confident that IM=X in Phoenix would reign supreme in the fitness game... Since high school (14 years ago), I've been working out about 7 times a year. Persistent lack of effort and intimidating classes (Pilates, yoga, circut training) and Scottsdale LA fitness ( :/) had pretty much ruined whatever hope I may have had at initiating and MAINTAINING a fitness routine. That was, Until I noticed my "FUPA" jiggle when I'd drive over speed bumps--So I scoured Groupon and Yelp searching for a place and type of exercise that could accommodate my schedule/lack of self esteem/sedentary fitness level. By the grace of something, I booked a private lesson with Kat and bought a starter class package. I'M SO FREAKING GLAD I DID! What an epiphany my first session was- There actually are people that won't show annoyance at my lack of coordination and endurance?? There are classes that I don't feel extremely out of place or "not cool" enough?? YES! I've been going for five weeks now and committed to an unlimited membership- which says a lot, believe me! Three-five days a week and I'm still constantly in awe of all of the instructors; their overall demeanor, expertise and patience. All you ladies with child-bearing hips and "mother's aprons", I'm expecting to see you in class- I can't promise you'll love the workout, that varies by person. At first I was intimidated by the idea of reformer based Pilates. I had an introductory session with the amazing Melissa Murray, she explained the basics to me and made me feel at ease! I signed up for an unlimited membership after becoming obsessed with coming to classes and seeing changes in my body almost immediately. Prior to finding verve I was doing a form of HIIT three times a week for about two years and I felt like it was too much stress for my body on top of my stressful job as an ICU nurse. I have been going to Verve for almost a year now and only wish I could make it in more! If you're a beginner don't be intimidated! All of the Instructors are super friendly and helpful! Besides going in for private classes with Melissa, Verve is my favorite class-once you see how fun cardio is lying down you'll never want to run on a treadmill again! Great studio, great instructors! A delightful mix every week with different focuses on different days. Nothing more amazing & balancing than taking Pilates here. I use to have shoulder and hip pain from just the wear and tear of daily life...since starting Pilates with this format, I have absolutely no more pain or discomfort and increased strength and flexibility! The key is consistency, you can come everyday as they change up the focus daily! First-beware the listings recommending IMX from local sites. This studio uses various email addresses to vote multiple times for them in the nomination process. I made several attempts to join the IMX classes because I was impressed by their friendliness and the look of the studio and site. After agreeing to let me join a class, they forced me to pay for costly private sessions before I could attend a normal class. Each time I finished those sessions they told me to take more-I felt like I was scammed. I've taken classes for years, worked out with personal trainers for 20+ years and have never seen anything like it. Melissa (the trainer) "niceness" was entirely superficial and fake--only used for initial sign ups. If you're expert at pilates by all means join, but for anyone that hasn't been taking serious pilates training for years, stay away. read more

I love this pilates studio! Bought the 10 class groupon here and will definately be continuing to attend once it is up. The instructors and managers here are so nice and friendly and do a great job of remembering your name and treating you like one of the pilates fam! Ive only done the reformer classes so I can't speak to the yoga and other classes, but those pilates reformer machines are legit! I honestly don't think there is a better core body workout out there. If you stick with it, you will definately see a change in your body. The regular prices for the classes are a little pricier than other studios, but there are only 8 of the machines, so classes are small and the instructors give you individualized instruction and really make sure you are doing the right technique. The studio is clean and modern as well. I highly recommend this studio...give it a try you won't be disappointed!! read more

I really like working out at IMX. Most of the instructors are really talented and engaging, the studio is clean, and the music is awesome. Plus, the exercises are appropriately difficult and help shape your body slowly. My only complaint is that there is only one bathroom, and it's at the back of the studio, so to access it between classes, which are often back to back, you have to enter after the prior class is over, but risk entering the next class late if there is anyone in line. Also, because it's a small studio, rarely is anyone available to answer the phone. Otherwise, just a wonderful and challenging place to workout. read more
