I've been to Studs twice. It was their website that I initially found out about them. I purchased a piece of jewelry online and went to this location needing them to put it in (or change out). The women up front said that it wouldn't be the best jewelry for my forward helix piercing an I was convinced to get another piece (so it was jewelry AND Change out I paid for that day) The jewelry was cute but was a pain to sleep on (the lady at the counter said that MY initial piece would be uncomfortable and hurt to sleep on!) I ended up taking it out after a month (I waited too long for the 21 free day return to apply) Ultimately I went back for what I ORIGINALLY-wanted on this second trip. It was $15 for a change out with the stud jewelry I purchased online. I believe the lady at the counter was just trying to upsell me on my first visit. I'll be back because a forward helix is extremely hard to chg out jewelry but I'll be firm that a change out is all I want. Oh, and purchase jewelry on their website! I had incredibly high hopes for STUDS and was let down entirely. Let's start from the beginning. I purchased 4 appointments with STUDS as Christmas gifts for my girlfriends. We made appointments back to back in order to have the experience together. Upon arrival we were greeted and kind of taken back by our " all over the place piercer" Tamara she was really abrupt and a little rude in her responses towards our questions, but attempted to rectify it by then being really kind. No biggie - until she was verbally frustrated with one of my girlfriends who needed to be pierced first but she set up for the wrong piercing. Again, we looked past it and began the piercing process. All went well. Until one of my girlfriends got home and her $155 earring had fallen out because the piercer did not secure it properly. We've reached out to STUDS by email and Instagram with zero response thus far which is only why I'm writing this review - at STUDS request. I was willing to look past the piercers behaviors, but I can't look past the incorrect job done on my friends piercing. It is too expensive for the experience to have been sub par and the earring fall out within an hour of the piercing being done. read more

We walked in.. woke up and we decided why not... so went in and the process was quick. The front people were very helpful in selecting the jewelry and options. Was not aware the jewelry limitations when it was a new piercing but it was fine. I told them I wanted a helix piercing on each ear and she said ok and helped me pick jewelry. When we went in for piercing the piercer told me she didn't recommend both helix due to sleeping. That it was recommended one ear at a time. I was quite bummed, wish they would've told me this in the front. But decided let's just do one... she set two spots up on one ear for me to choose. Asked if I could do two on ear and she said yes. This spot was super cool, teeny in the front (but that's all they really need), quick, and a cool little spot! I wanted to get a specific earring I saw on an Instagram ad, but I was hesitant to order it- I didn't know what size or anything that I would need. When I happened to be in Dallas, I saw they had a store (our phones really & truly do listen to everything we do), so I popped in! It's downtown. I'm happy I went, although I would recommend the sales people to ask or suggest for a piercer to put the purchase in ($15 extra). I actually went with intentions to have a piercer put it in, but I kinda forgot and felt a little rushed to be done (my own issue- nothing the sales clerks did). Maybe saying, "Did you want a piercer to put this in for you?" or something simple would be good. If I were in town longer, I would go back and have them do it (and maybe even buy something else!). read more

Overall my experience at Studs West Village location was okay. My piercer was awesome though (Cherelle) and made the actual piercing experience painless and seamless. I come from a customer service background and not getting greeted upon walking in was a major turn off. The girl working the front desk was with a customer but a "hi welcome, I'll be right with you" would've been cool. I was visiting from Chicago so I was pretty excited to visit as my sister booked my appointment as a birthday gift. About 15 minutes go by and a second girl walked up to the front and went straight to the laptop and didn't say anything or acknowledge us until she was done on the laptop. She ended up "checking us in" and putting down which earrings I wanted to go for. I pointed and said to her I wanted to start off with two of the smallest titanium earrings. She marked everything down and we waited a bit more until Cherelle came and called for us. Everything was fantastic once we were in Cherelle's hands. She explained everything step by step, remained sanitized and clean the entire time and left us with cleaning tips to go home with. When it was time to check out the front desk girl gave us our total and it was a lot more than what we were expecting to pay. She broke everything down and mentioned we were charged for two 14k earrings (I asked for titanium at check in). She then proceeded to say "oh well the piercer put the 14k ones on you". Okay...but she was only going off what was documented on my card so it wasn't her fault. This was obviously a mistake on their end...she mentioned giving her a minute so she could talk to Cherelle. She can back and said that I had to go back so Cherelle could switch out my earrings for the titanium ones. I was really disappointed because my ears were freshly pierced and now I had to subject myself to having them switched out because of an error on their end??? Customer service 101 Studs WV, you should've honored me keeping the 14k earrings and taken the loss since the mistake was on your end and just charged me for the two titaniums I initially asked for. This was not Cherelle's fault and was super turned off that she tried to blame it on her...this was the front desk girls mistake that inputted the information wrong. Overall, not the best customer service experience with front desk girls and will just continue my piercing journey in Chicago's newest location. read more

I booked an appointment for my 3rd lob piercing, that ended up being a shit show. Upon arriving the staff was nice and the place is clean. The piercing itself hurt which surprised me as someone that has other piercing and felt nothing with a helix piercing done elsewhere. The piercer, Emily, struggled to put the jewelry on as she squeeze roughly on my fresh piercing and even had her fingers slip. She was telling me that do to my ear and the placement she got a little cartilage and lobe which is why it hurts but she's been told the third lobe piercing can be spicy. I leave the place and I'm almost home when the jewelry feel onto my shoulder with the post still in my ear. I am not a bleeder with any of my piercing until coming to Studs and getting piercing by Emily. I can't begin to explain how painful this was as she told me she can't push in the replacement and needs to stretch the piercing! They pierce with 16g for a 3rd earlobe so the amount of blood a swell was not expected for an earlobe piercing. The ear swelled up and when I got it looked at by a nurse they told me they don't know what the piercing is talking about because they did not get any cartilage, but rather the other ear got a tiny bit of cartilage with how Emily pierced it. This place was so cool, decorated in a 90's neon vibe. The people were friendly and the place was super clean. The piercer I had was very sweet and offered me a stress ball to squeeze during the process, reminded me to breath and take deep breaths. Very professional, will be back! Oh did I mention you can pick your jewelry, there's a lot of options ranging from $30-100.00, I picked two CZ 14k gold studs that were $80 each and then getting two piercings was $50 so I paid around $223 altogether. Tragus piercing hurt like hell. once I got home & checked it out more, I feel like it was pierced more towards my face & not the outer part. My nerves probably played a roll in not paying true attention to where the dot was placed or the fact that I was moving may have moved it in more. So that may be why it hurt so bad. I love studs I shop with them online all the time I visited my Dallas location and went in to have them put in a studs earring that I bought online into my piercing for me. I do not recommend going to Studs. Although it was a fine piercing experience, I followed their advice to a T and still got my ear infected. When I went to get it checked, they would just change the length of the back of the earring when instead they should've advised me to take it out. When I went to my dermatologist, they told me I should've never gone to Studs. Highly recommend going to your dermatologist first or do your research about cartilage piercings before getting your cartilage pierced at Studs. read more
