In my experience the representation was extremely limited, roughly two hours of work. He took no notes that could be provided to subsequent counsel. Despite multiple phone and in-person requests, I never received any invoice or detailed billing statement, and I received no refund of any unearned portion of the $25,000. I had to retain other attorneys (including counsel from Sidley Austin and a North Carolina firm) to dig out of the situation, at a total cost approaching $1 million. I later received a full presidential pardon from the President of the United States for the underlying charges. Prospective clients should insist on clear written fee agreements, regular detailed billing, and actual work product before paying large retainers. My experience was highly unsatisfactory.

They all understood that I had never been through this process before and knew that I was worried about how it was going to go and about the cost. They were more than happy to explain things to me in a way that I was able to understand. They also worked with me on making payments as well. There were a few times when it did take a day or two for them to call me back. Instead of getting up set or frustrated I just tried to see from their point of view that I was not their only case that they had to tend to and that I needed to be patient. Apparently turned out to be a little piece of land and we were denied our bankruptcy. It was the worst time in our lives and we found out that Covey was running for a position that was controlled by the office hearing so he threw us under the damn bus to look like he wasn't a lazy POS that didn't do his job in which he DID NOT!!
