During the fall there is a healthy selection of pumpkins to pick from. What impressed me the most is that they offer online curbside pickup. This is the first time I have seen this at a farmers market. They are a little bit on the pricey side but definitely worth visiting.

My husband commented that the prices were lower than what many grocery stores charge for lower-quality produce. I bought one Jumbo Zucchini and two ears of corn. When I got home, I measured the zucchini, and it was about 15 inches long and had a circumference of 10.5 inches! I cooked one-third of the zucchini as a side for dinner for two people, and I liked that the zucchini had no blemishes and tasted so good. For the next meal, I cooked the corn. The corn was small to medium in size, but it was juicy and flavorful. I decided to search for this farm online to learn more about it. According to the farm's website, it is a small, family-operated farm that is not USDA-certified organic, but it grows only non-GMO produce, and it uses organic farming practices. Organic--yay! :) This farm's website said that customers may purchase the produce not only through the Oakmont Farmers Market but also through the Bellevue Farmers Market and the Cranberry Township Farmers Market. Furthermore, this farm offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. The CSA prices vary based on the size of your family (e.g., individual/couple, small, or large) and if you sign up for a half season (8 weeks biweekly) or full season (16 weeks). Several pickup locations are available throughout the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

I turned around and bought a pint of some the best looking strawberries that I've seen in quite awhile. I was there late and their produce was flying off the table. On a Saturday, my husband and I visited the retail store. When we entered the store, the employee near the door did not greet us. As we walked around the two floors, we saw foods such as pumpkins, apples, corn, tomatoes, apple ciders, pies, cookies, chips, jellies, honeys, chocolate bars, and even Penn State ice cream. We also saw non-food products such as tote bags, holiday decorations, serving trays, and greeting cards. I picked out a bag of honey-crisp apples, a box of peach-cobbler mix, a loaf of zucchini bread, a peanut-butter chocolate bar, and a jar of fig preserves. The canned/pickled area was my favorite area, with a locally made chili crisp, chai maple syrup and creative sauces and salsas - including a dill pickle salsa! Due to our travel limitations, our actual purchases were scant - but their blueberries were fresh and a good size for the $5 price, my daughter devoured them for the rest of the weekend. Local jerky was a protein packed snack option for the adults. Also snagged some cookies for dessert that really hit the spot. If your schedule allows, check out the restaurant next door - it's their affiliated "farm to fork" concept. The outdoor selection of flowers absolutely took my breath away - so vibrant and healthy looking. I was impressed by the variety they offer. They don't just have flowers though - their selection of trees and shrubs is extensive and all looked well-cared for. Inside the market is where the real magic happens. I have now tried their apple, muscadine, blueberry, and cherry ciders (obviously had to!) Each one has the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Also Apple Tea which is a new fave! What really sets this place apart is the staff. Everyone I encountered each visit was genuinely friendly and knowledgeable about their products. They took time to answer my questions about plant care without making me feel rushed. It feels good supporting a local small business, especially one that puts such care into their products and customer service. They have all sorts of fresh cheese cut to order if you want, and a small selection of meat and fish (I believe this is in the freezer). They also have a full garden section.
