Lodging [Sturgis SD] Booked 3 nights here... well, you get what you pay for but we were out most of the day so it did its job. The place is outdated and could use some updates. It was nice that it was easy access to the I-90 freeway. The place had ample parking. Room had a King size bed and basic amenities. Free Wi-Fi. Bed was good, we woke up with no bug bites. The electrical sockets w/ USB ports were all useless, though, they were all loose and will not charge our phones. Free continental breakfast served between 6:00a-9:00a. The lady that checked us in was friendly and helpful. She gave us some tips of food places around. Well, I would not like to be here in August which is the annual motorcycle rally celebrating 84 years of the world's largest biker party on the planet! That's 10 days and nights of riding, food, and music. 500,000 riders, concert fanatics, and street-food... and it all starts next weekend, Aug 2-11, 2024. Review #3489 read more

Here are the good and the bad for this hotel: Good: 1. The location of the hotel is nice, it is right in the center of all the major attractions in the area. 2. The pool is a nice size and a good temperature for an indoor pool. 3. There is a microwave and a refrigerator in the room (also part of the bad). Bad: 1. The hotel is dirty, the carpet in the rooms looks 20+ years old and looks like a carpet cleaner has not been used in 5 years. 2. They are short handed on staff. They have specific towels for the pool area, but since there was only the front desk person they ran out of towels and there wasn't any other employees to wash and dry the towels. 3. We stayed for 5 days. At no time during our stay did staff come to check on the room (replace towels, replace the toilet paper, empty trash). 4. The bathroom door would not close unless it was forced really hard. It also is extremely small. Just enough room for a tub and a toilet. 5. There is water stains on the ceiling of the room and out in the pool area. 6. The mini-fridge has no freezer. 7. The room did not have an ice bucket to use with the ice machine. 8. The TV in the room, after 5 minutes or so, the sound and the picture don't match up. 9. The lamps are old and the outlets and the base have been used so much that they don't actually work when something is plugged into them. read more

Room was a bit old and in need of a desperate update. Staff was pretty friendly Sarah at front desk was extremely helpful when we got there. Judy made us breakfast every morning but boy was it hot they need to put an air conditioner in the dining area. If your visiting the area remember they are no Ubers and shuttles will cost you $150 and above, you would think with the prices they are charging for these room they would have a free shuttle for guest or atleast one that isn't ripping everyone off for the strugis event. The manager Hasan was willing to let us have a later check out while we figure out shuttle situation. But I don't think I would stay here again unless there is major updates read more

Clean room, very friendly staff. The pool and hot tub were open and people were enjoying them from early morning until late in the day. There is a very friendly woman in charge of the "continental breakfast" that one expects for free... She cooks your breakfast to order and it's delicious, not just frozen waffles and colorful kid cereal. I will return or just sneak in for the great breakfast! read more

The room was nice and clean although just a little bit dated, but a very comfortable bed very clean sheets, nice clean bathroom, and a girl that was working the office that actually saved the last room for me while I backtracked on the freeway 5 miles or so to come back to Sturgis to spend the night due to no availability in the next town because a big Indian festival was happening read more

This post reflects two previous stays around 2019 and may not reflect current state of the establishment. Note that it made so much of an impression on me, it is the only hotel, motel, or hostel I've ever tried to avoid, and because of a pair of pages that stuck together in my notebook when I was trying to make the second set of reservations, I confused this Best Western and one we'd stayed in a different night. The rooms were damp with an uncomfortable musty mildew smell in that lingered from the snowy late-October to the dry scorching July just before the 2019 rally. I'm willing to chalk it up to inconsiderate guests leaving wet things from the swimming pool or snow being trod in, and things not being cleaned or dried properly, but it was enough to trigger breathing issues I haven't had issues with in nearly 30 years. Once we cracked open the window (in an October snowstorm) I breathed easier, opening windows in Julywas also required, but more manageable. Beyond that the bathrooms were an afterthought, probably cobbled together for the motorcycle rally crowds in their leaky glory. I can't remember if it had a "suicide shower" or not, but my brother seems to remember it having such a device. Google the term if you don't know what it means. The walls were also thin meaning you could hear what the person two doors down was doing, not so bad in the shoulder/off season, a headache to be had the week before the motorcycle rally. The same story can be repeated for all three rooms, at the two different locations in the complex (all with outdoor entrances rather than the steamy damp poolside rooms). Apart from the rooms, the breakfast (which I think we paid $10 per person extra for) were completely memorable...in a not so edible way. My father will eat and has eaten anything put in front of him, even if he hates it(being raised during war time rationing by people who lived through the depression tints views), so that was the first time in my life I've ever seen him push away a plate and suggest the McDonalds, especially since he strongly dislikes McDonalds. The orange juice and milk were both watered down, when they were available, the bread was dry long before it went into the toaster, no jam or jelly, almost enough watered down poorly mixed pancake batter to feed a third of the people descending for breakfast, 10 bananas for everyone to share, a as well as a handful of yogurt containers, sausage so greasy and tasteless it was literally hard to tell if it was just barbecued lard or not, and eggs which were both raw and burned and saltier than the Dead Sea. This review is cobble together from notes and memories of two trips taken nearly a year apart. Perhaps, the issues with the rooms have been fixed, maybe breakfasts have gotten better. Until I experience it again, which ai have no intention of doing, I won't be revisiting. However, it is a place with a roof, heating and dodgy ac if you can't find anywhere else. read more

The offseason price was the best around so we took a chance on it. The pool and hot tub were a nice break from the cold weather. The ac in the room was so loud we couldn't sleep with the heat on but our door wouldn't close all the way so the cold air got in. Ended up having to wake up every hour to turn the heat all the way up for a few minutes then turning off to fall back asleep without the sound. Breakfast is not worth trying. read more

When it comes to hotels I am not very picky. As long as there is a bed, a clean bath and toilet and no bugs I am good. That said the Sturgis Inn did not disappoint. It is not the Hilton but it was all of the above and more. Other than a bit of warm water in the shower it was overall quite pleasant. It was easy to find and pretty close to town as well. The gals working there were very very nice and the free breakfast at the restaurant attached was very good as well. They had some good prices on T-shirts and other souvenirs too. read more

I called Best Western Inn they said they had a room with a king size bed. When I got to the hotel the guy said it was for pets. I don't want a room that smells like dog piss. He charge me extra to change to a room with a queen size bed. They have single ply toilet paper. It's like going to the bathroom in a gas station read more

Best Western: Staying 1-22-21 to 1-24-21 Sturgis, SD. Sister and 4 kids came to swim. Basit advised they do not allow guests to swim and we had to leave. We informed him we were guests and said my sister and kids had to leave. Nobody else was at the pool at this time 9am 1-24-21. We had no music, we were quiet, and again the hotel was empty. We explained we were not aware of the rule and asked how we would have known. He was rude and defensive and said we should have asked and he would have said "yes" to guests swimming. We asked how we were supposed to know the rule to ask and he got more defensive. He was rude, he talked over us, and he did not listen. At no other time have we run into the issue of local family not being able to swim when staying at a hotel. I asked to see the rule and policy since it was not posted anywhere on the premise and he stated it was his policy he just made. I asked for a printed corporate policy and he stated I should print it myself. He yelled at us and escalated a simple situation without cause. Masks-It states all workers will wear masks. A female worker wearing a hijab never wore a mask. A 50+ lady with blonde hair on 1-23-21 cleaning rooms had no mask. A 50+ lady with grey hair did wear her mask but took it off to pick her nose. Rooms- Not updated which is fine for price. Foundation is settling. Rooms are dingy. Unless poolside rooms outdoors. Breakfast-Continental breakfast was a mushy apple with a granola bar and old muffin. read more

We have stayed in many BW. Unless you have to, I would not stay here. Horrible mattress. Broken down, lumpy and slanted off to the side. So bad I went to the pull out sofa - the sheets hadn't been changed on it. I ended up sleeping on the cushions on the floor. Towels frayed. Two conditioners no shampoos. On a high point, they recommended a good place to eat and called to find out if we were okay. People are nice beds are horrible. read more

I'm not terribly picky when it comes to places to sleep at night... that's what they are: places to sleep. This place was not horrible. It was just meh. The room had weird electrical wiring that didn't allow for one of the lights to be turned off without turning them all off. The toilet had a weak tank refill time which means if you are staying with someone and you both need to take a dump only the first one gets to flush it right away. Some of the rooms are near the pool making them rather humid. But it was clean, there is free wireless, and the breakfast they outsource to the place next door is A-OK. read more

For $60 I'm not that critical. Beds are pretty comfy, not the greatest. Shower very hot but they need a better soap option. Soap smelled blah. Rooms very clean. All the workers were very very friendly. Would reccomend for the $$$$ read more

Not as advertised, this place needs a major renovation. The first bad sign was when they handed me a real key to get in, and the key looked cut in half!! The room smelled musty, the air did not cool, and the thermostat means nothing. You can adjust it, but temp never changes. They offered fan, but really?! The tv has maybe 10 channels, no cable news, no typical cable channels that you get at most average motels. Never been this disappointed with a Best Western---I thought they had standards that they had to meet!! The entry door was difficult to open, and looked like it had been beat up. Torn up carpet and missing base molding. The shower was odd, slightly adjust temp of water and would go to ice cold immediately. The pool and pool area very dated. The hot tub looked like a health hazard, could not tell whether the bottom was stained or just dirty. It grossed me out! In the room, None of the plugs worked on the lamps, tho they did supply a plug base elsewhere. The only plus was it was clean, just very old and the ripped portion of carpet just made it feel very much like a dump. They responded to my complaint about the air, but never fixed it, just said it was working. The photos on website look good, but when you get there you think OMG I've been duped. read more

We arrived on June 25, 2013 around midnight. The WiFi did not work in room 17, called the office the guy said well it should work the router is in room 18 beside you. The inn worker arrived with an iPhone to check for WiFi signal. He confirmed the obvious and said that he would not wake the guest in room 18. I did not ask him to wake the guest, I did tell him that that was a poor designed system and placement of routers. He did not agree. The next morning at breakfast the WiFi did not work in their cafe either. After breakfast I went to the office to ask for a partial refund on the $100 room. The front desk lady pretended to call the manager, then said that she could not authorize a refund. Well Best Western, we all know that's the oldest trick in the book, well no, it's a flat out LIE! It did not matter to the Best Western staff that the lack of WiFi put us behind on various things. Thanks to Yelp the members will know how the Sturgis Best Westerm treats paying guest and all guests' will be ready and more aggressive with the shady staff and or management... read more

The suite was clean and spacious. The bed was comfy. It sits right on the interstate but noise was not an issue. The front office staff was super friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is served in an actual restaurant and definitely a plus. The maid left a handwritten note which I thought was nice. It's a nice option to the high prices of Deadwood as well. read more
