We're out of their usual location range and couldn't work with their contractors, so I think because of that some of the communication was challenging between designer and contractor. (It seems like they work pretty seamlessly with Builder Boy!) So while that was challenging at times, the end result is one I know I couldn't have done without Ana's skilled eye and access to beautiful materials I didn't even know existed. Once the design process was done, she helped me to manage the project and communicate with the contractor (she introduced me to two options, got me quotes from both, and I went with JJ Construction, who was wonderful!). Of course a project of this size will come with its problems and the best thing about Satin and Slate is that they always had a solution or solutions ready for me. Initially we had a consultation at the empty house to discuss the ideas my wife and I had for the each room, show her our favorite colors, what we planned on using each room, and immediately on the spot she came up with great suggestions already! We got a more elaborate design document with the proposed changes that she made, and everything was extremely helpful, from choosing decoration to the furniture quality and colors that would go well. She made renderings and designs to visualize the result, and make sure the contractors understood the design and intent. She made a spreadsheet with alternatives for materials and appliances with costs that helped to plan the project going in, and helped me avoid going over budget on a down-to-the-studs remodel on the whole house. Anytime we went over to the house, we were constantly impressed with the quality of work performed, the cleanliness of his crew, and their ability to hit the exact schedule that Troy communicated to us. One thing that is nice about hurst construction is that he has in house specialists that do their specific trade- plumber, electrician, framer, finish carpenter, painter, and a few others. The quality of work you get from these trade individuals is very high because they are working within their specialty. Another thing that was great about Troy was his willingness to meet with us and provide his input when needed. He is a good contractor to solve problems with because he has a very good eye for detail and will always do his work the right way. Lastly and most importantly, Troy is honest with you. He works very hard to make sure that you are happy with his work. If I were to do a high end house in the area, he would be my first call!
