You can tell the owner put a lot of heart and and soul into the look of the place. Hannah was very sweet. She listened to what I wanted and didn't get "scissor happy" with my long hair. I asked for an inch and a half off, some long layers , and face framing. She did just that. Styled my hair the way I asked as well. I felt beautiful leaving the salon. The reason I docked 1 star from the review is for 2 reasons. The first being that I felt it was the most expensive "trim" haircut I have ever paid for ($97). The second being that the owner does bring her large dog into the establishment and lets it run free while clients are in the salon. The dog was fairly well behaved and didn't try and jump on me or anything like that. But it did approach me at my salon chair. So if you were allergic to dogs or afraid of them, this may not be the place for you. Not that the dog being there would have deterred me from coming but I would have liked that to be communicated with customers prior to booking just from a courtesy standpoint if clients were allergic or afraid of dogs.

I didn't get the name of my technician, but I went in with acrylic on my nails and wanted them taken off and then get dip powder on my natural nails. This technician proceeds to take an artificial nail tip and rip off my acrylic nails (I've never seen this "technique" before) so while she's doing that it's ripping off my natural nails and causing me to bleed. She says "you wanted tips, right?" When I originally didn't, but at this point I have to because she's ripped off my natural nails. She puts the tips on and proceeds with the dip powder, when she finishes she buffs my nails and instead of just buffing the nail she is buffing over my skin, and is breaking down the skin around my nails causing me to bleed again. Her customer service skills need work, as well as her ability to be gentle with customers. She didn't apologize once, instead getting irritated with me that I was jerking my hands and saying ow. Overall my nails look decent, but it's still a one star rating due to the lack of caring from her and the other technicians around her who were well aware of my discomfort and frustration.

Was in the chair in under 5 minutes. Had good conversation with a saucy lady with some solid life experience. Had some laughs. Paid 12 dollars cash and left. There is nothing more I could ask for than that. Mrs Kay has a solid following of regulars and a good business model. I get the impression that she doesn't need my business but given her candor, skill and convenience; I'll be back anyhow if nothing else thank to talk some shit with an old white lady.

She definitely knows curls - particularly that everyone's are different and you have to experiment and learn what works. I've never had anyone try different products on my hair and really pay attention to what their impact. I have wavy/curly hair and some people don't know how to cut and shape curlier hair. Shannon blew me away with her techniques and how she took my long hair from blah and boring to short and sexy!
