I dropped in at 9 am on a Saturday and he was ready and waiting. He is so fast and thorough, and before I knew it, I left with a beautiful blowout and curled style. He is so kind and we had such a good conversation. The salon is warm and inviting, and I can tell he welcomes all types of clients, male or female, from young to older! Also...I'm not sure what kind of wizardry he uses but it's 2 days later and my hair is still looking great, even after I was rained on! I've never had anyone else achieve that. To begin, you must realize that I am not a Louisville local. My husband is from Louisville. Needless to say I I discovered James the first time I came to visit and did so every time after. Even when we lived in Texas and Florida, I would always schedule an apt to see James when I visited. Fast forward a few years and now we live in Louisville. Danes salon is down the street and I will still NEVER leave. He is kind, caring, compassionate, and the salon is ALWAYS extremely clean. He is great with hairstyles, gives great cuts, and James is a phenomenal colorist. I'd recently had a bad experience with someone I'd seen for a while. During covid, that person seemed to be rushed, didn't give me what I wanted, and even made the statement that she didn't have to work if she didn't want to. The final outcome left me with patchy highlights and an expensive trim when I wanted lots of layers. At SAINT, Jessica understood exactly what was wrong with my current "do" and knew exactly how to fix it to give me a beautiful head of hair. She was so intuitive to what I needed. My cut and highlights really were to perfection and almost two months later, I'm literally still getting praises on my hair. I decided to try a different hair salon than the one I have gone to for more years than I can…read morecount. My stylist no longer cuts hair and I had tried one of the other stylists last August. The haircut was mediocre at best. After reading the single Yelp review and many other reviews I decided to try Inspirations Salon in Shelbyville. When I called I indicated I wanted a wet cut with an easy to maintain wash and wear style. The person that had answered the phone recommended Nikki. It was a breeze to book the appointment for a convenient time. I also inquired how much I should expect to pay for the requested wet cut. The answer was $30. which seemed reasonable. On the day of my appointment I arrived a few minutes early. One employee came to the front desk and indicated Nikki was finishing up the appointment before me. I patiently waited about 20 minutes into my scheduled appointment time. When she was done Nikki came forward and escorted me back to her station. She seemed a little unknowledgeable on what I had booked. "Do you want a shampoo?" My reply "yes". I then produced a magazine picture with the general haircut I was looking for and told Nikki it needed to be an easy wash and wear cut. The haircut itself went quite well and was exactly what I was hoping for. Then rather than just styling it as my hair dried Nikki proceeded to style it with a variety of brushes and blow dryer. In the end I confirmed how much I owed her and she replied "$35." Fortunately I had that much set aside for the cut and tip so I gave her the $35 and then dug in my purse for an appropriate tip. I waited to write this review until I could live with the cut for a couple of weeks. The cut is probably the best cut that I've had in the last five years. So why not five stars? The little difference in price, plus having to insist on a shampoo before the cut, plus the extra styling makes me withhold that fifth star. I definitely well come back in the future.
