After trying hyundai dealerships in the area and having horrible experiences including getting cursed at by a floor manager. My opinions of dealerships had been brought down. However, walking into Subaru of Stamford was entirely different. The staff was very sweet, and professional. Jesus was great at answering any questions on my test drive. And a HUGEEE shoutout to Lourdes who walked me through my entire purchase. Was never pressuring, very amicable and all around a lovely human being. Lastly, usually stepping in a finance office feels like facing the final boss on how much a dealership is going to take advantage of you. Jose in the finance office was nothing like that. He walked me through the last bits of my purchase and again, not pressuring in any way. He was very personable and hilarious. Which really helped lighten the mood from how heavy a car purchase can feel like. I knew I was talking to a person and not some soulless money sucking corporate machine. My entire experience with Stamford Subaru was excellent from start to finish. First, the salesman, Marco Dos Santos was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, professional, and a straight shooter about price. The fellow for our used-Subaru trade-in was also great, and then he offered me much more, nearly double, what another dealership offered. Dorota was great with the paperwork end. and I was even introduced to the service people, who I would be using in the future. they even have a program wherein after having the car for two weeks or more, you can come in for them to go over all the bells and whistles. when I was firat told this, I thought it was a nice perk, but an unnecessary silly one. after a week with the car, I can see the value. new cars are much more complicated than my old trade-in. On that note, whereas I didn't Iove our old 2015 Subaru Impreza hatchback, I LOVE this new 2024 model!! They have really improved it! Sum of story. Buyer Beware. They say their certified preowned Vehicles are put through a checklist . Not the case with our car. We purchased a preowned Used car in December and in January had major issues . Seems the car sat on their lot and rodents ate through wiring harness. There was also a leaking oil pan. Cost us 1400 for wiring harness as not covered by warrantee. The cracked oil pan was covered . No one called us back from Subaru of Stamford. Multiple calls and promises they would get back to us but they never did. Technicians at an out of state Subaru dealer were appalled and said it was obvious this had been going on a long time . Not what you expect when you've had car less than a month How they missed a cracked leaking oil pan is ridiculous. Needless to say their checklist they showed us of areas they inspect on a car before marking certified pre-owned is bogus. We should not have trusted them. Luckily I contacted Subaru of America who refunded us the 1400. I wouldn't trust this car dealership. They knew we were sending a college kid out of state in a car that was unreliable. Additionally on the day we picked up the car they seemed unprepared . They didn't have plates available even though transaction was planned well in advance. SLEAZY operation ! read more

I want to thank Alyson Santos (Assistant Service Manager) for his prompt attention to having my headlights fixed on my OUTBACK; I was traveling and thought I would have to cancel my trip - I was in and out (probably not even 20 minutes). Update: Went in for an oil change. Who would have thought my 2020 crosstrek would be worth about the same price? While waiting for the service, I saw a gentleman by the name of Luis. He was very polite, cordial, and professional. He went over the updated forester model and suggested I take it for a test drive. I met with Kevin Lynch and he discussed the different models in stock. In the end, I had this sort or dream team (Luis and Kevin) working with me to get this brand spanking new forester. I walked out with a new car lol. Reached out to Subaru Stanford looking for SUV. I did it online because I did not want harassment via phones or emails. It seem to run really smoothly. I specifically told him the amount I was putting down and the amount of money I could spend monthly. In addition to the two cars I was interested in. The response was "I have one of the two cars you like available on the lot". Great! he asked me to stop in. I rearranged my schedule and went in. I wasn't there no more than 10 minutes and he said if you want this car it will cost an additional $100 per month or I would need to give an additional $3,000.00 down. I had already committed to $3,500. So now it is $6000 down for a lease? I thought about copying our text exchange here but it's not worth it at this point. read more

Took vehicle in for dealer to look at parasitic battery drain issue, made the "mistake" of asking service attendant for documentation showing that I dropped off my vehicle. The assistant service manager, Alyson Santos interjected himself into my interaction with service attendant - asking "if that was your fist time at at dealership? You are acting like you have never been to a dealership before." In all my decades of having my vehicles serviced "at dealerships", I have never had an encounter where the staff was so blatantly rude, condescending and belittling. This was the most stress-free, pressure-free car buying experience I've ever had. We had such an excellent experience with Robert Creasy as our sales guys. When I started looking a few months ago my info got sent to local dealers as part of the car buying program I was using. Immediately I got inundated with calls, texts and emails. I replied I was just looking and wasn't ready. Robert was the only one to respect that and not be pushy about when I would be ready. And that won him our business. From the moment we walked in we had his full attention and he was polite, understanding of our needs and prepared, based on the exchanges we had via email. He found us a 2019 Forester Sport that matched everything we wanted, except the color, but we could live with it. So we signed the paperwork. He kept us updated on progress of its arrival and told us we could even bring our dogs on pickup day. We went in to look at a Jetta TDI for my father and spoke to Jesus who let us test drive and inspect the car. Aki and Bennie handled closing the sale and registration. The experience was great through and through. I have spoken to many used car dealers over the years and can say that these guys were very professional, probably even moreso than the people I bought my car from. The car itself was honest and seemed to be as they got it, which is great (lots of dealers wash car and engine bay before putting on lot to signs of use less obvious). There were some other cool cars on the lot, some turbo MINIs and an S5 and a ton of WRXs. We bought and left with the car the same day, and my father loves it. However, I specifically went in one month ago, said I was going on a long road trip and wanted everything checked to make sure it was safe. I specifically mentioned tires and brakes, but assumed they would check all major items including battery. Last week had to take car into Mavis tire for emergency and they checked the battery while I was there. It was on its last legs!!! It was corroded, and the guy said it was on the way out. I cannot believe Subaru did not check this! This did not advise me of this at all. I had told them I was going on a long trip and wanted to make sure everything was safe. I could've been stranded with a broken down car and dead battery. I called the supervisor Brian this morning. Perfectly pleasant, but offered offered nothing except to make excuses. One of the worst dealerships I've been to. They have awful service. I purchased a car from them. One of the worst mistakes I've made in my life. My best friend bought her car from them a week later. I referred her and contacted my sales person as well stating I referred her as well. They then stated that I was too late to get my referral credit - 7 days? That's insane. I've taken my car in for service. They informed me that I should go somewhere else to take my car because they couldn't work on it. This was right after I purchased it from them. Stamford Subaru has a convenient location, right off of exit 6. However, it seems like the cars salesmen are a bit incompetent. They're all very friendly and nice, they're not the pushy type-I'll give them that! In fact, it took the front desk to call for a new sale on the floor FOUR times. So when you get there, be prepared not to be bombarded (which is nice but in my case, I knew what I wanted and wanted to discuss numbers). I went to see one of the cars because it was a "manager's special." Just like the grocery store, there's always a reason for a manager's special. I was brought to the car and the fuses weren't together yet. The car was still in Japanese and the lights weren't even working. This was a 2019 Crosstrek. I was still curious about the car because I loved the outside color and price. I planned to come back with my current car to get it appraised but had a better experience at another Subaru dealership with a car that was actually working (and was only $3/month more than the other car with some extra perks that wasn't offered at Stamford). I was never called back about coming back in so I felt that Stamford wasn't truly interested in selling me a car anyways (now that I think about it, I don't know if they asked for my number). Here's another story about this dealership if this helps your purchase: My fiancé bought a Forester some years back at this location because he was getting a great deal on it. Give a couple of weeks or so and they called asking for more money because the cars salesman messed up on the numbers. However, all papers were signed and agreed on. They kept bothering him for about a month asking for more money until they realized he wasn't going to do it because the contract was already signed. This dealership serviced my car twice. The first time they did an oil change. Nothing fancy with the exception that I was chauffeured into and from work. The second time they charged me top dollars to take care of some rattles in my WRX. I just wasted 300 dollars. Luckily, I didn't go back there as they wanted to replace my front strut heads claiming that they rattled when in reality what rattle are the inverted struts in my car. Wish dealerships got authorized to service cars after more training and testing from the manufacturer. read more

Bought a vehicle with 14K miles. Mileage is just about doubled currently, but after brining it in for an oil change at a Subaru service center, I was told I needed to replace a pair of tires. When I spoke with a local tire shop, they told me the tires shouldn't have needed replacement with such low mileage, and that tires with different wear degrees can be damaging for AWD vehicles. How this 14K vehicle passed Subaru Stamford's multi-point inspection with such worn tires is beyond me. read more

I actually walkout of the dealership not feeling I have been robbed, I felt I was in control of my whole car buying experience. I Started looking for a new 2016 Subaru STI Limited 3 months ago. I came across Subaru Stamford while searching on the social media and reached out to Joe Mercaldo . I have already gotten several quotes and I presented this to Joe. Subaru Stamford so happen to have a STI in the color I wanted and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Once we settle on the price is was time to meet with the Finance manager. Normally this is the part that I hate about buying a car , so I came prepared. I had already been approved for a loan through my credit union with an ok % and then I met LUKE. Luke sealed the deal, I told him not to bother selling me anything I didn't already requested and he kept his word. I did get the added SUBARU GOLD warranty because its through Subaru and they back their cars 100%. LUKE also was able to get me a better % on my loan. They have earned my business. CONS: I wish they could off sweeten the deal with at least 2 free oil changes which I even forgot to inquire about. But I guess I take that up with the Luke when I return for service. read more

They were great during the sales portion, seemed very helpful and friendly. Once the sale was over they had terrible follow through, terrible communication, terrible service, and I had to take my car to other Subaru dealerships and/or private mechanics -on multiple occasions- just to get known Subaru problems repaired. It seems their mechanics may be knowledgeable, but, they just can't be bothered to perform any diagnostics. If they can't warranty and swap the part, or find a simple fix, too bad for you. It's pretty telling when a private mechanic with real and diverse experience can diagnose and repair complicated problems by himself, without a room full of Subaru trained mechanics (and all the other resources) to help him.....but then again, it's his business so he actually cares. They seem too busy to care, you're just a number to them. I won't be purchasing another car from them as result of my service department experiences. read more

I didn't feel hassled, hustled, shortchanged in information about the brand or features, or lacking in any way The experience was surprisingly professional and above board. When I picked up my car Linda stayed an extra 45 minutes AFTER closing at 7pm to make sure we set up my Bluetooth and she explained all the key features that would save my life like safety, lights, SOS, etc. Never have any of the Mercedes sales people I've deal with over the years even bothered to show me anything. My wife and I wanted to lease a 2020 Ascent. Their best price was several hundred dollars less than the Subaru dealership 8 miles north. Even more telling is the service that Stamford dealer provides. My Ascent developed an alarm problem yesterday/Saturday morning. The noise would NOT go away. Stamford wouldn't/couldn't deal with my problem, saying that I'd have to come back on Monday since I didn't have an appointment. That obviously could not happen. I wasn't going to have my alarm going off for three days, not to mention the fact that the battery would drain. I drove to Garavels. They took care of my problem right away. if I can give it zero stars I would. first off I bought a subaru from Stamford Subaru several years ago and had a relatively good experience. But when we wanted to sell our car and buy a new Subaru they were the worst. First being the worst offer for the car by several thousand dollars claiming they can't sell a 2018 model year vehicle and then trying to charge a couple of thousand dollars above sticker on a new vehicle. On top of that we bought an extended warranty coverage that took forever to get a refund. i spoke to other Subaru customers at a different dealership and they said they had similar bad experiences there. We didn't end up buying a Subaru when we were car shopping, but I still wanted to comment on our pleasant experience here. Salesguy was really helpful and worked REALLY HARD for a sale. Subaru is kinda small and plucky for a car company, and we really did like their cars. They're known for their brand loyalty. Anyway, the sales guy took us on a couple of of test drives of the Forester, both the automatic, and the stick shift. He was really knowledgable about the car, and really willing to work with us, whatever we ended up doing. He did a lot of later followup with Lee, answering any questions we had, and really being a great brand representative. Had a great experience recently at Subaru Stamford. As most know, this is a difficult time to buy a car; however, we found a great deal with even better service from SS and Dave Welton. From our first encounter Dave was professional and attentive without being pushy or salesy. In the end, after looking at many other dealers in the area, we bought our new Outback for under MSRP (the only dealer offering that) with great service along the way from Dave and everyone we encountered at SS. We also expected an up-sell to maintenance and other stuff which never came. They did tell us what was available and I even met the service manager, but no hard sell came with it. Was having a problem with the CarPlay and Bluetooth connect and brought my car into this Subaru. I purchased it from another Subaru less than 6 months ago and got the extended warranty and was never told about a deductible at the point of sale. This dealership was able to fix the problem (which required updating the radio) and also fixed a recall on the car at the same time and kindly did not charge because of the confusion about a deductible. They addressed all my needs and got me into a vehicle that was safe, affordable, and like brand new!
