Soooo popular that they were decorating cupcakes to order as customers arrived - morning rush had consumed the inventory! I asked for a variety of the obvious favorites, not knowing what I might end up with. When I delivered the boxes to the office, all heck broke loose! Cupcakes from Sublime! I remarked that the cupcakes did not appear to be overly large - just regular size. I was told, sternly, that these did not need to be huge, that there is so much flavor and richness that they are the perfect size. And the red velvet is moist! I am tired of ordering red velvet cake and getting dry cake. These are perfectly moist and the icing that is matched with the cake is just the right sweetness. Wow! For his 5th birthday our son wanted a "fighter jet" themed birthday and a fighter jet cake. He and my wife went to Sublime Cakes and showed them a picture of the specific type of fighter jet he wanted, an F-22 Raptor with strawberry cake! The cake was ready exactly when we had requested, they even carried it out to the car, making sure we could safely transport it home--and it and it absolutely blew our minds! So amazing, with perfectly accurate detail. Exactly like a real F-22 Raptor. The flavor was "strawberry champagne" but for a kids party we asked they go heavy on the strawberry. It was loaded with strawberry, perfectly moist, and just the right sweetness. Our son was SO excited to see the cake, it was the talk of the party!! Though more than your average B-Day cake the price was totally reasonable considering all the care and detail put into it. My aunt lives in Redding and offered to get the cupcakes for my sister's baby shower in the SF bay area. She said she had a great time working with everyone there. I can only attest to the fact that the cupcakes (18 lemon and 18 chocolate) were beautiful. With the classic Winnie the Pooh theme, they decorated the cupcakes as little bee hive with wee bees. They were so cute! The cupcakes were picked up Friday evening, transported here and then eaten Saturday afternoon. The cupcakes were still spongy and moist, the filling was just the right amount and not over-prowering, and the frosting held up.beautifully and was not too sweet. The cake looks amazing. They had suggestions for cake flavors and combinations and some basic information as well as a tray with tons of samples. We got to try the different fillings and frosting just the two of us which was so nice because we could talk about what we really liked and not feel pushed one way or another. We then talked with the Cake Artist, he was so helpful! He gave us his opinion without pressuring us into anything! He drew up our cake in about 10 minutes and gave us a quote! The quote fit right into our budget! The cake designer put "we will miss you in Ecuador" in Spanish on the cake and he didn't even know Spanish but he was willing to put in the time and translate it via Internet. Maybe its just me, but my only two times I have ordered cakes from there they have turned out nothing like how we wanted. The first one was my friends birthday cake and the alignment was very off. The whole cake was lopsided. Then for my sisters baby shower, we ordered another cake and it turned out looking very nice but the buttercream frosting was not tasty at all.
