WELP. This business has seem better days. I paid for the best clean outside of detailing - The Admiral. Mostly good. Workers are probably overworked, but did a nice job. Very friendly. HOWEVER, as soon as I got out of my car to hand over the keys, the septic smell hit me. It got worse inside the building (which is not kept up the way it used to be). I could hardly stand being in there. I paid (did not receive my extras for purchasing the package) and ran outta there to wait outside. Only to have to the septic smell hit me even worse on the other side! The wind made it worse and I was so eager to get into my car, I almost said forget the hand-dry! Wow it was overpowering. The scent stayed with me all day. I think the water they were using was also compromised. Those poor guys working there!!! Ugh! Anyway. Moving on to a diff car wash. Great job detailing, quicker than expected, and friendly staff. I'm in the Navy and needed my car detailed before I could ship it so I called to make an appointment for a full detail here. The full detail came out to $265 after tax ($250 before). I brought my Honda CR-V at 0800 on a Saturday and it was done at 1200. I thought it was going to take all day! The car looked great inside and outside. The guy who did it was very nice too. They ring you up inside the laundromat next door so I guess the businesses are connected. Overall, I would recommend coming here for a detail. It took much less time than I expected and I was pleased with the job. read more

I recommend you do not go to this car wash. I just had their 2nd to the highest package which was $37. Was supposed to include interior and exterior wash, including mats , vacuum etc . I was told they do not vacuum the seats. Most of a car is seats. They did a lousy job . One of their employees actually tried to start to argue with me about the quality of the work, which was absolutely terrible , this 6 ' 3' foot man, towering over a 5'2 petite grandmother with a raised voice did not make me feel very safe. I will pursue this behavior with the owner of submarine car wash. In the meantime, I suggest going anywhere else to have your car detailed. read more

I went to Submarine Car Wash two weeks ago, it was my first visit, I particularly loved the work. My car simply came out almost new.

My family has been going to Submarine Car Wash since I was a kid, so I knew I had to visit before taking my car back to school. I live near a lot of new construction homes so the outside of my car gets covered in dirt, and the exterior car wash did an amazing job of cleaning and shining up my car! I also liked how thorough the interior wash was; with three people cleaning the interior, they do a great job of getting every crevice. I went at 5 pm on a Wednesday and there was only one car ahead of me. They have several different car wash packages, I got the commander package and it was worth the price with the exterior wax. read more

Absolutely disgusting. My car was better before the "car wash". They hardly vacuumed, only wiped the front dash. The person who sat in my car must have urinated themselves. My driver seat reeks of pee. On the outside, the bottom trim and about halfway up the car (all around) looks like water was just barely sprayed. The same dirt on the car before is still there. This is my second time here and I had a coupon from those local shopper booklets. I chose the $3 off any wash and chose The Captain. There are 4 general type of washes, and the too one is Admiral. Anyways. No "fast food type car wash" will ever get your car immaculately clean. You should have reasonable expectations. Now I know $20-$30 is a "luxury purchase" of sorts but if you want your car immaculately clean go see an actual car detailed that'll cost $200+. I think his name is Deore or Fiori and he's based in Norwich. Anyways. This place at around 130pm on a July Friday had a long line wrapped around the building. Sucks. And when I was done with my service around 2pm the line was much shorter. Hey. I had my errands to run at specific times and this is where I fell. This place also offers Early bird specials, so keep that in mind. I usually keep my car in great shape, I keep it clean most of the time. But recently I had intentionally driven it through some mud, had a lot of night time bug grime accumulated, and it was dirtier than usual. So I as I approach the service bay, a gentleman comes out and asks what service I want, and I say The Captain. He gives me a receipt and I exit the vehicle and walk inside as they begin to vacuum my interior. You can go to pay at the counter. Let's Just say the counter person was pleasant enough being pregnant and possibly distracted with other things than cashiering a car wash. The interior of the shop is stuffed with car gimmicks you may or may not wish to buy. There are also rest rooms. You may also enjoy watching as your car goes through the wash bay. And then you exit as your car exits to a crew of hard laborers hand drying and wiping the car down as your lazy butt stands or sits there and watches. There is a tip jar. Utilize it please. I know what I paid for but I was still impressed by the overall service, and especially the super tire shine, and the washing of my rubber car mats! There was still some hard to remove bug grime in the front but again, I didn't expect that to be gone entirely. read more

I had been going here for many years. They're pricey, but they USED to do a stand-up job that earned them the price of their Top-Tier Level (Admiral VIP) carwash at $30+. Sadly, no longer. My last visit a few months ago was a subpar job that I had to point out surfaces missed in the interior cleaning--like crumbs and sticky spots on the seats that were clearly still visible after they had "finished", and today was just a disaster. As usual, I ordered the Admiral VIP carwash. The automatic wash is shotgun style with windows on the side so you can watch. Today, I felt like I had to RACE to keep up with the car moving through it. Was definitely faster than normal. On top of that, some of the brushes were either not rotating at all, or didn't touch the vehicle. So, not surprisingly, when the vehicle came out, it was still dirty. They have a crew work on the car after the automatic wash to dry it up and treat the interior. When they told me they were "finished," I had to point out the grill, all four rims, and the back door of the car, which were all still dirty. They did a quick and dirty wipe down of 2 of those areas, leaving a still dirty grill and still dirty rims. The manager explained to me that I had to pay $5 extra for the extra attention, which I was willing to do (but the Admiral level should have covered it), but he said I'll have to go through the carwash again and pay for the Admiral car wash AGAIN PLUS the extra $5. Are you kidding me??? To top it all off, at the cleaning dock they have their employees eating lunch on some dog-chewed table on its last legs right next to carboys that contained or used to contain carwashing chemicals. All in all, this has now turned into a business owned by a greedy business owner that's trying to squeeze as much profit out of it by skimping on services, speeding up his automatic carwash, and treating his employees like sub-humans. When I picked up my car after they cleaned it. I found when I got home that they stoled a bunch of stuff out of the trunk of my car, after I told them not to go in my trunk. When I went back to confront the manager about it. He told me I was making it up, and that he felt like I lied so I can get my money back. I told him that I wasn't trying to do that. I had taken my car to get washed here and they broke off my Chevrolet bowtie. The broke off one of the pieces and then when I spoke to the owner about it, he said there is nothing he could do and that I could go to an autozone store to buy something to fix it. Now there is a crack in the front of my Chevrolet bowtie and one of the pieces snapped off. If you care about your car, I would not recommend going here since all they care about is money. read more

The owner of both Submarine Car Wash & Downtown Car Wash just jacked up his cost for a carwash significantly and eliminated the Sunset discount of about $3? btwn 3-5 p.m. For Senior Citizens on fixed incomes, my friends and i really really try to save and this really was not only disappointing when i pulled up today & staff informed me very kindly but i thought, who can afford a $22? monthly fee to wash your car? Not avg Seniors thats for sure. We're usually the ones bagging up half our meals for Supper the next day & going out with friends for lunch because the portion & entree cost go up significantly. The staff are very sweet & hard working here so please dont let my 2-star review affect your perception of quality they perform. They in fact are 5-star! Horrible job! Paid for the Admiral and got the basic service results. Mats were not removed and vacuumed under, rag was dirty for wiping the inside down so there's dog hair in my vehicle from whatever vehicle they wiped down before. Never wiped the wheels so they look like they were never washed. Bird poop still on the back end of the car. The door jams weren't wiped down on one side but was on the other, which is a result of multiple people cleaning one car. Trunk wasn't vacuumed. Extremely disappointed. I don't come here often because it's always a disappointment. No I didn't complain because I have before and it obviously doesn't make a difference in service. Rapid in NL will charge you $25 to wash the exterior only and then give you a DIY packet to do the interior yourself. Literally something I could do at home for free . This used to be THE place to get your car washed years ago. Not anymore. I went around 5:45pm on a Monday...15 minutes before they closed. Maybe that's why my car still looked like crap when they were done? I paid $22 for my car to be vacuumed half-as*ed and to have it come out with dead bugs still all over the grill and windshield. I had just driven in from NY, so my car was filthy. When they finished I pulled off in front of Rosie's to properly dry it myself with rags I keep in the back, and to scrub all the dead bugs off the front. Looking around the inside there were still crumbs all under the floor of the back seat where my son sits. Overall, I was NOT impressed, and I will not be back here. For those prices, people should receive the same service at 5:45pm that they do at 9am. No thanks. read more

This is my favorite local car wash. The most important thing that they do is power wash the under carriage of the vehicle. That is super important since the chemicals and salt on the road tend to eat away at the underneath of the vehicle, I take our cars here at least once a month in the winter and probably about the same amount in the summer, just because they do a great job. I like the lieutenant wash because it is an excellent value. I used to wash my cars myself, but not anymore! It just not worth the time, plus I don't was the under carriage. The lieutenant only cost $15 and you get, vacuum, wash, under carriage, wipe down the dash, and a dry and an exterior wipe done. The crew is super efficient and friendly. Drawbacks. Very long line usually, obviously because it's such a great deal! Also it's not a non touch. That's why I rate this place 4 stars instead of 5. Yes the "touch" probably does a better job at getting trim of the cars, but if you have a dark color car like both of mine (one's blue and one is black) you will end up with swirl marks eventually. That's why I prefer a touch less, but the closest one doesn't wash the cars well and the one that does a great job is in Hebron. So Submaeine wash it is! read more

Extremely fast service! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was they didn't take the time to clean my wheels well. There was dirt between the spokes. I also have a large SUV which didn't seem to get washed as thoroughly as smaller vehicles. Mainly because the car wash was designed for smaller vehicles. Each of their wash packages has a list of services. The Admiral package has a service called "super vacuum." From what I have seen, there is no difference between vacuum and super vacuum (its really up to the person with the hose). Save a few bucks and don't purchase any watch package that is greater than $16. Overall, great prices and fast service! read more

Total rip off. Never go here. Prices are obscure and nonspecific and they try to gouge you for extras if you buy a gift card. For $200 interior and exterior "Admiral" detailing they did a half assed job, leaving stains on upholstery (soda and catsup, completely cleanable with windex and a cloth) brake dust on rims, prints on glass, and dirt in the cracks. (Basically, they just did the carpets.) Came to pick up the car to find they had left it running with the heat on and doors open to dry out the rugs. No reciepts, no statement of services given, nothing. I brought the car back to give them an opportunity to make things right and they just wanted more money, tried to blame my wife (basically called her stupid) and chose to send away an angry customer instead. Complete scam to rip off Navy service members. Never go here. There are three other places within a couple miles that are cheaper and more thorough with real customer service. read more

They deserve the Most Musty Award for the way the inside smells. Went here because everyone says the prices are good for the work.. LIES. I bought the admiral because I wanted my interior cleaned throughly, which I will give them a 7/10, but they left soap in the bed of my truck so I asked them to rise it out, and they tried telling me that the soap won't hurt it when it dries.. but my daddy always told us kids never leave soap on paint. So I asked them to finish the work they started, and simply take a hose and rinse it out. They said to drive around to the front and they'll use a power washer to rise it off. Got around to the front and they sent the only Caucasian boy to come tell me that they are telling him to charge me $10. So I asked to speak to someone at the end of the wash to come back here and do exactly what they said they would do. But nobody wanted to come back and fulfill what they said they would do. Why leave a job unfinished? I definitely felt like they could swindle the young woman whatever they wanted and she would believe them. If I wanted that treatment I would visit a mechanic lol. Fourth time using them and I always purchase a VIP. It says on the sign's description "interior dressing". I have leather seats. They weren't even wiped off. (They had been previous times to some degree) After talking to the manager I then was able to call the owner. (The number is posted in the waiting area) Raj the owner told me "interior dressing is ArmorAll on dash and door panels only. I said $30 plus a tip is a lot to pay for the rest of the inside not to even be wiped down. He said I could speak with the detailer to see how much it would cost for a wipe down. I told him I constantly see people upset in the waiting area expecting the same thing as I did. I reiterated "interior dressing" should include a most basic wipe down. I suggested that he add another package for $32 that includes such a wipe down. He didn't say much except maybe, and let our conversation conclude with if I wanted more I would need to pay for it. He did offer to drive over to look at my car (he was nearby) but I said what good does that do if you are telling me, "Interior dressing" doesn't include it and you want me to talk to the detailer and pay more. It's a shame because they have enough people on VIPs (3 - 4 for the wipe down) to add such a quick and easy service to make customers satisfied. read more

Francisco did the best job I've seen on my car (Detailed 4 times since I purchased it in 2016), would recommend anyone to check them out, interior and exterior detail looked like it just came off the lot. They say they "clean" your floor mats but really all they do is spray it with water and put them back into your car soaking wet. I have my given business to this car wash establishment for years because it's local to work on base and fast. My issue is that there something is always incomplete, and generally it's noticed while I'm being rushed to drive off the property by the workers. Today I paid $24.00 for a car wash and there was still bird poop on my windshield, my dashboard was dusty, my floors looked barely vacuumed, and they didn't spray fragrance. The visit before, they didn't dust my dash or clean cup holders, my car had streaks of dirt on the side from not being clean and dried, and again they didn't spray. I've noticed that they generally never spray fragrance like what's included in the package that I purchase. Each visit, there is literally always something wrong from the car wash. The only advantage is that they are quick.... but the quality is not there for all of the money spent. I've lived in large cities where it's cheaper and cleanings are much better. Find another car wash place if you want your money's worth. read more
