All started great they seemed very nice and they had an online system, their manager came for a meet and greet and even took notes which was all super professional but.....then there were police at my door. Turns out the evening dog sitter on the second day of my vacation had left house unlocked and dogs were in back yard for hours. Good thing cops were called by a neighbor for barking and I had family come secure the dogs and house. Had I not seen what was happening on my ring doorbell I am afraid what would have happened to my dogs. Certainly not what I expected when I booked them to care for my dogs while I was away. I was hoping this would be a long lasting relationship where I would hire them often but sadly I cannot trust them again after this experience. Our experience has been fantastic. The dog walkers are great: they are on time, professional, friendly, follow the directions and most importantly, our puppy loves them. But what makes Suburban Pets really stand out, is the customer service: a few times, we've needed last minute bookings, i.e.: after their stated cut-off time, and they've been able to accommodate us, or at the very least, been responsive to text messages. They've adjusted schedules to meet our needs and been communicative with us when appropriate or necessary. My best friend's dog sadly died 3 weeks ago after getting hit by a car. Sadly, a door was left open by a cleaning company and he ran out the door. After using their services for over a year, it has started getting worse and worse in the last couple of months. I think Therese and Lindsay as owners are trying hard to meet their demand since their "business" of dog walking has expanded rapidly throughout Long Island, forcing them to hire extremely unprofessional and inexperienced walkers. Walkers are literally just working for $$ but are absolutely NOT animal people! -Walkers refer to my Maltese as "annoying" for barking at another dog during a walk. -They show up whenever they want between a 2hr timeframe, don't have a phone number to contact to communicate or notify you when exactly they'll be coming. -They send different strangers into your house each time. And claim it's for our benefit because their walker's are calling out so they rotate strangers in and out all the time. Which is super uncomfortable honestly! -They offer you only 20mins of their time. From walker's time of arrival to departure, whether dogs are done or not. They're in and out rushing throwing dogs and leashes around to get out the door within 20mins so they can get to their next house. Make their next $ -We've followed the walkers to see what they do, and on NUMEROUS occasions caught them standing around in 1 place on their phone texting. -My handicap dog was knocked down by another dog during a walk, and came home all muddy. When I asked if he got hurt the walker's response was "hehe yea probably, he peed though..." -Walkers have been caught on camera complaining about our home and family being lazy for using a dog walking service. But act fake-friendly/ fake-smiley to our face. They don't care about dogs, or animals at all. They do this for the money. This review is definitely overdue. I left my three dogs in Suburban Pets care. When I first sent an email, I was so nervous, since I never left my babies with strangers. Then Cathleen, the Assistant Manager came to meet my pups, I was still a bit nervous. Even though, she reassured me several times, that they will be ok. Before I left for vacation, I scheduled two visits, just to see how the pups would be with a stranger coming in the house. The scheduling system is very easy to do. My pups are not really pups, two of them are seniors and two of them take medication. My Rottweiler Carly is almost 14yrs old, Petri is almost 17yrs old and Bear is 7yrs old. So basically, it's a big responsibility. So then, I met Sam. Well let's just say... my dogs love her. She is one of the most gentle, most caring, lovable person have ever met. She did an amazing job, and my pups felt comfortable. It was under control, like we didn't even leave. I highly recommend Suburban Pets and will definitely use them on our next vacation. After adopting our 3 month old beabull Kasey, my wife and I quickly came to the conclusion that since we both work during the day we'd need someone to come in & walk her in the afternoons. We started out interviewing a few people that work independently, but none were willing to commit to 5 days a week or could offer a contingency plan should they not be available one day. A little online research turned up Suburban Pets, and boy are we glad it did! Therese came to our home & was incredibly knowledgeable and professional - where as others we met with only wanted to discuss money, Therese took the time to interact with Kasey, offer some suggestions for us first time puprents, answer any & all questions we had about their service, and explain how their business works - the question of money only came up when we presented it, and as it turned out they were considerably less expensive than these private folks! As we've discovered, Suburban pets is run in a very professional manner - their staff members check in at each location & are tracked on google maps to make sure they're actually where they should be to do the job. In addition, they provided a notebook in which we get info on each day's visit, and rather than hold on to our house key they provided a lockbox for its safekeeping. Suburban Pets also uses a terrific website on which we can schedule additional visits as needed & also cancel in the event we won't need them - no need to worry about calls or texts, a few clicks and you're done! We were given Brianna as our regular visitor for Kasey and thus far she's done a great job. Kasey had a few accidents in the house at first (she's a puppy - we get it) but Brianna recognized what she could do to help fix the situation & has done a great job of modifying her routine with her to make sure it's as smooth a visit as possible. All in all this is shaping up to be an outstanding relationship that we look forward to taking advantage of for a long time! read more

I absolutely love this company. The owner and all the walkers there care so much about their animals. It also helps to know just how qualified they are - they know animal CPR! They become genuinely attached to the animals and make it a point to know the owners as well. It makes it a much better experience knowing someone is in your house and caring for your loved one. Last summer my father passed away and Therese, the owner, found out. She had a dog walker come on the day of the funeral to make sure my guy was taken care of at no cost. This is by far the best pet sitting service available. I have used local walkers, recommendations of sitters from friends and Suburban Pets is the answer to my pet prayers when I travel. Rather than have my 2 greyhounds boarded in a vets office (kennel) that they hate to go to on a good day and have them kept up all night caged, separated and listening to the cries of the surrounding sick or stressed animals, Surburban Pets allows my 2 dogs to stay together in their familiar home where they can comfort each other and see loving visitors several times a day who feed, walk, play, love and truly care for my pets. I feel that I'm able to travel on vacation and know my pets are well taken care of with folks that are honest, trustworthy and care for animals. My pets missed us, but we returned home to dogs that were not stressed out and were just happy see us. Most of their walkers aren't animal friendly. Certainly not professional any way. Unless you want to pay them to be on their cell phone and hold your dog on leash for 15 mins outside they are not worth it. We have had them walk our dogs and we see them numerous times just standing at the corner on their phones not paying attention to our dog. read more

Therese and her staff treated my 8 yr old Lab/Mix Guinness like their own and my Guinness has epilepsy and takes about 12 pills a day and she made sure he took everything without any problems . They gave him such love that when I got home from Chicago Guinness was as happy as always . It was such a relief knowing he was in great hands while I was 800 miles away. We have been customers of suburban pets since April '21 & utilized their pet sitting service 8 times for our dog. Most of our visits have been for either extended weekends or week long vacations. During our initial consultation, in '21, we articulated that our dog was cautious of strangers and it was suggested by the SP staff to request consistent visitors.Up until our most recent visit, the staff's feedback has always been positive. It has been known to the sitters that our dog will bark & run at you when exiting the house. However she responds to commands & will go to her "place" when instructed. During the most recent visit, despite instructions that our lights were on a timer to assure sitters would not enter a dark house, our in house cameras and our neighbor reported that many house lights were left on over night. We emailed the owner and requested that our lights be shut off during the next visit. Additionally, we found our bathroom faucet on when we returned home. It was made clear to us, that the services had diminished greatly during this last visit. Our hunch was solidified when we reviewed our in-house cameras and saw the lack of interaction between the sitters and our dog. We received an email a day after our return from the owner, stAting they will no longer provide services to our dog due to her behavior. After being a loyal customer, I would expect this to be communicated via a phone call and not an email! Our dog's behavior has not changed! It is evident that suburban pets no longer has employees that are competent to manage various types of dog behavior & the owners are not concerned with customer satisfaction! read more

Suburban Pets have been walking my Reeses for two months now. She is a 5 month old pup that just cant hold it after a few hours. While my husband and I are at work they come for a visit. Its 25 mins and really affordable. Gives me the piece of mind that I dont have to clean up a mess after work and my puppy loves it. My walker leaves me a note saying how the visit went and tells me if anything is wrong via text! All the walkers are CPR certified and know what to do in every situation! This is the most amazing dog walking service. The owner and staff are terrific! I use them daily when I am working and for times when we will be away from the day. The service is available at the time you need for your dogs. For example if we are away for a whole day they will come at 4:00 and then again at 9:00. Your dog can also be fed if need be. They are always walked and also left fresh water! You also receive a narrative telling you about your pups and the particulars of the visit. I think the most impressive thing that they do is if your pup is not acting like they should and the walker feels the pup is under the weather they will immediately contact you and advise you of the dog's condition! After using Suburban Pets for years i had a terrible experience with them and decided to end our relationship. I used to have a regular dog walker and all was great. They are very responsive and they seem to be always available even on a pinch which is good. One of my dogs starting acting very nervous. After a while i realized that they were sending different walkers to my house which they had not informed me of. I was quite upset because now different people are walking the dogs who are not familiar with them and most importantly different people walking in and out of your house. I was upset and brought it up to the owner who limited herself to answer "Ok". If the owner does not care i can't see using the services any further. They used to be excellent i think her operation grew very fast and now you don't even know who goes to your house or walks your dogs and that i find quite disturbing. read more
