The General Manager (Amy…read moreDuda) at the Woodstock VT branch was extremely rude when I raised a concern brought forth by a service tech (not a Dead River tech which I am sure played a role in her attitude) who was at my house over the weekend to fix my furnace and told me the issue that almost caused my house to burn down was most likely due to the tank not being filled regularly cause a large build-up of sludge which in turn burnt out all the electrical aspects inside the furnace - $800+ and tank needs replacement this spring, but thank god we still have our house and out fur-babies are still alive as we were not home when the issue occurred!! She was very belittling and extremely rude when I didn't use the correct terminology (I don't work in the fuel business). She even told me to research how sludge builds up in tanks, saying the tank not being full is not a contributing factor. So here is the research (special attention to the last line "This process is exacerbated by oil impurities, and internal tank rust, especially when tanks aren't kept full"): Sludge builds up in #2 heating oil tanks due to condensation, creating water at the bottom that fuels microbial growth (bacteria/fungi) that feed on the oil, producing waste that mixes with rust flakes, dirt, and oxidized oil to form a thick, sticky residue. This process is exacerbated by air exposure (oxidation), oil impurities, and internal tank rust, especially when tanks aren't kept full, creating ideal conditions for contaminants to settle at the bottom. It appears that both oil impurities and the tank not being full for months are contributing factors to the issue! I wasn't saying they were the only issue, but my research only strengthened my decision to change companies, as the lack of timely deliveries IS a factor in the issues we currently have! Please do better!! Customer beware: call the main office in Maine if you have an issue, as the Woodstock office is horrible!

I stated that I would be stopping by on the morning of Sunday the 14th to check it out and purchase it. I was told the bike would be ready and waiting for me. I arrived at the shop on Sunday 11am only to discover the bike had not been pulled, unboxed and assembled yet--a process that takes between an hour to an hour and a half. I had just driven 96mi/2 hours to get there only to learn they failed to follow through with having the bike ready & waiting. As I left the shop, the Owner stopped me outside stating that he wanted to "help me". I asked him what exactly he meant by that, to which he responded "I'll have the bike built for you right now." Now, I'm thinking to myself this guy didn't have time to get it right prior to my arrival; yet, suddenly has found the time--My Time--to get it right after my arrival? Really? That's how it's done? I told the Owner I don't do business like this. No reputable business does. Since when did it become acceptable to presume upon a potential customers time? My plans for the day did not include waiting 1 1/2 hours for a bike build. This guy didn't even offer to buy me a cup of coffee while I waited. Furthermore, what prevented them from calling me ahead of time to inform me the bike wouldn't be ready & waiting? They had a day and a half! Also, I couldn't help but wonder as I drove home, if the Owner lost sight of the fact that as a paying customer, I was there to Help him and not the other way around. He needed to sell the bike; I don't need to buy. Lastly, if they can't be counted upon to assemble a bike when they said they would, or at least make a simple heads-up courtesy phone call, then what is there to make me think they can follow through with anything else?
