Sadly I'm not surprised to see the low star rating for Suburban. I have been with them for about 4 years and every time I get my tank filled it's a hassle. I am a small customer, only a 100 gallon tank so I know my service doesn't make or break their business, but they shouldn't treat me as such. The reps at the Turlock office are rude and ill informed and will give you incorrect information. When I called corporate to get things straightened out, I was told that this office has a high turnover rate and that sometimes the girls won't know the answer to your question but that should mean they transfer you to someone who can give you correct info, not just make up the answer. If you're a small residential customer, I would NOT recommend using Suburban, happy to say that as of today I have moved my business elsewhere. read more

We have been with this company since we bought our home in 2012. The first few years, fair pricing and good service service. We only fill up our tank 2X a year, so not much on their end as far as delivery, service and maintenance. Fast forward April 23, 2019, just filled up and got completely screwed!!! $3.99 per gallon!!! We are being charged over $920 for 226 gal. A Total price gouge!!! Called a location gas service to compare, theirs is $2.25 per gal. Double checked with our neighbor who uses the same company, yep, between $2.25 to $2.79 per gal. Obviously this will be our last fill up with Suburban Propane and I'm probably going to pay their "restocking fee" of $1.00 per gal plus $150 tank pick up and a $50 "administration fee just to get this company out of our lives for good! read more

Be careful! Make sure you get the gallon price in writing - they don't honor what they quote on the phone! After 13yrs they don't care!!

This company is a scam, I used them for almost six years and they just filled my tank on 3-15-21 and charged me 6.49 a gallon when all the others propane company's in Stanislaus county are around 3.00 - 3.20 a gallon. When I called and asked about the price and told them I was going to switch company's, the lady was extremely rude and told me I was paying for a service. read more

I moved into a RV with a 60 Gal Propane tank. No one would come out and fill it up. The RV is not movable. The tank is permanently mounted. I called several Propane Services and no one would come out unless it was 100 gallons. I asked what could I do. No one helped with any ideas. I called Suburban Propane and talked to Megan. She was so friendly and helpful. Got me set up with an extra hose and and tank rental for a really good price. Set me up for delivery and getting service. I am so thankful I talked to her. We have been a customer of Suburban Propane for over twenty years. We recently moved and I was told by their customer service that if there was a substantial amount of propane left in the tank they would send me a refund. She said they would call me back to let me know how much the refund would be. I never heard from her for weeks. I just called them again this morning and am now being told that even though there was 90 gallons of propane left in our tank they will not refund it to us. They are now claiming that the person I spoke to was mistaken. If I knew this ahead of time I would have let the new owners use up the remaining propane before changing it to their name. Such a rip off! We will be needing propane for the house we are building and I was planning to stay loyal to Suburban but we will never use them again. There are MANY complaints about them online.....even a lawsuit. Beware of this company!! read more

this place is horrible, patricia is super rude... i was told id be serviced today, i requested a week ago,and was told id get it either the coming thursday or friday, today is friday (a week later)... after dealing with patricias rude arsse on the phone, i essentially hung up on her as she was talkin over me and being super rude... i just recieved a call from the driver stating that one of the "office girls" (wonder if it was my buddy patricia) re routed him from my house to a business 5 hours away and now i likely wont get service today either... also my price is far more than it was last service, which is weird being that the price of gas is now cheaper than it was months ago..... avoid this place, it sucks badly read more

The worst customer service ever!! You ladies in the local office are doing a great job at not keeping your word and providing terrible service. Hats off to all of you. Would not recommend to new customers, Iv been with Suburban Propane for 6yrs and it means nothing. What should have been an easy fix for a misunderstanding, that then turned into bad rude customer service, has now set me up with a new propane company. Way to go on closing accounts. Dont waste your time with Suburban Propane you'll just be frustrated. read more
