Service Technician was 5 Stars Maintenance Contract is 3 Stars We were fortunate to get an automatic standby Generac generator with the purchase of our house. The previous owners used Suburban, so we continued. We purchase an annual maintenance contract for $280 a year like the previous owners did. Recently, I found out that it includes ONE checkup per year, parts extra with 10% off. If you need an additional checkup that year, you are charged $129. plus parts. Last checkup was Jan. 2025, so when I called in October for a checkup (generator did not turn on during outage), I was told the charge would be $129. I called back in November, and I was allowed to count a 11/10/25 appt. as my "annual checkup" since I paid the $280 in September. I was confused but happy to not have to pay $129. Brian was excellent -- Five Stars Courteous, he put paper slippers on his shoes when he came into the house. Summary of visit: He replaced the dead Battery, Air Filter, and two Spark Plugs. I installed a 3 head mini split unit in my daughter's home 2 years ago. They installed it on the home vs on a pad. Subsequently I complaint of vibration in the home from that installation. They responded with tightening some bolts and adding insulation. That was 15 months ago. The vibration has continue and I now have a window that has broken, most likely from the vibration. I spoke to Ethen (The Service Mgr, who refused to provide a last name) and since we are at the 2 year mark he would not entertain any warranty obligation even though the issue was reported within the 1st yr. Very disappointed with tankless hot water heater installed 1/12/26 if you are thinking of changing DON'T I hate it! Hot water on DEMAND it is NOT! I had an appointment to service my AC, which was installed by Suburban Services Group (SSG) in 2022. At 9 am on the day of the appointment, I called the office to confirm because I had not heard from anyone at SSG. Dawn said that yes, I was on the schedule. I was not told that I would need to answer a call from the technician, or the appointment would be cancelled. I missed his call. A message was left that I needed to reschedule. To make this worse, I have been loyal to SSG. For 4 years, I used them for all my furnace needs. But in 4 years, they have not been here to service the AC. Even though I confirmed my appointment, I was cancelled with no notice. I have not been a no-show for an appointment with SSG. When I spoke to the office about why this happened, I was hung up on during the phone conversation. This is offensive and rude behavior regarding the cancellation and the hang-up. Under these circumstances, I can not continue with SSG. If you use them, be aware that their customer service is not up to modern standards. read more

Had an oil leak in my Generac whole house generator. Not having time to repair it myself I called Suburban, a service repairman came out and started telling me the installation wasn't correct and didn't meet some standards. ( My generator was installed by a Generac dealer years ago that business owner retired) The Suburban repairman wrote me a bill for $170 bucks. I asked did you find the source of the generator oil leak? Dude said No, the generator has to meet our installation requirements before we diagnose your oil leak. So lucky me I spent the day waiting around and paying for a lazy Suburban repairman. When I finally found the time to diagnose the problem myself, it was a leaky oil sending unit a $30 part ordered on amazon. Do yourself a huge favor and run from this company. This is really a two part review as it was a pretty big job and involved two crews. First off, we had our entire electrical panel removed, replaced and upgraded. Then after that was completed, we had all of the circuits checked, tested and verified as well as having the electrical connections to our generator identified and tested and reintegrated back into the new panel . This was the largest electrical job we had done in the thirty five years that we've been here since building our home. Everything was smooth sailing , everything was explained as we went and...everything that was done, worked as it was designed! We had absolutely no problems and no complaints as both crews were top notch. Even the cleanup was great. Things were better than when the guys started! We've used Suburban Services Group for years (generations actually) and this is how they work...everything done to plan as expected, all items completed to the estimated price and most importantly, we couldn't be happier with the results! In June 2021, called Suburban and asked for an estimate to replace a gas heating system. I previously had Suburban install 2 gas hot water heaters in the past year. A senior estimator came out and I showed him I wanted to replace the furnace as well as the sheet metal above the furnace. He took pictures, made measurements and drew up a proposal. With everything it would be $6100. A bit more than I expected but I accepted and installation was scheduled for 6 weeks later. Aug.3,2021 technicians came to install the furnace. Unfortunately I was not able to be there, only my wife and daughter were there. The system was installed. A week later my daughter called and said the panel was coming away from the bottom of the furnace. I went over to take a look. To my utter disappointment I saw the furnace but with the same old sheet metal on top of it. This sheet metal has patches and some holes in it. For 3 days I tried to talk to someone from the company. I left emails and phone messages. Nothing. Nobody had the decency to talk to me. I am not healthy enough to want to continue being ignored by them . I will have someone else replace the sheet metal. I will never use Suburban again or ever recommend them. If you have to use this company make sure you get what you pay for. read more

Been a customer for years.. Sadly the last few times I've hired them.. I've noticed inexperienced guys who've had to come back numerous times. They also seem to run into many issues running the labor costs up. This has happened more than once. How can they think this is OK?! My folks purchased a Generac generator for there house sales person was pleasant and explained everything installers came and had unit up and running and had yard cleaned up then took the time and patience to go everything with my dad. About 18 months later in heat of July power went out and generator wouldn't start my brother and I checked it out I called Suburban got after hour operator. She was very pleasant and explained because of power out across the area the gentlemen on call were backed up she seemed concerned when I told her about my folks being without AC I explained we were taking the to my brothers she told me a repairman would get back to us. Aprox. 30 mins a pleasant gentelman call he was in Glenville fixing a generator we explain symptoms the generator was doing he asked us to check a hose which we did and saw a crack told us until he could arrive much later that nite to wrap with duct tape would get us thru sure enough it started right up. He came later apologized for delay installed new hose so my folks could stay home. In August of 2016 my dad bought a generator from the stated company. Suburban Energy Svcs. He also bought a and extra service contract for several hundred dollars. Today, less than a year later, for personal reasons he has to move to a place where generators are not allowed. He went to the so called company and asked to have it disconnected. they said it was 129.00 service call and then two hours of labor. Approximately 350.00 dollars cause it would take 2 hours to be done. The two men showed up today and disconnected it it less than an hour, charged him over 400.00. To unhook from box and gas hose. They did give him a 15% discount for being a veteran. Total paid 386.53. When i called the so called business a man answered and said 110. an hour is there rate, a manager would call back. Rob, the manager did and told me the rate depends, so clearly thy make it up as they go. I explained that they were done in an hour and you said it would take two hours, he said its per man. So you sent two men to disconnect two things. I am getting no where and decide to call the owner Craig McDonald, i ask for him to call me back. I just got a call back not from the owner but the manager Rob, stating that the owner was satisfied with the outcome. Then i ask about the service contract, clearly it should be given back, not there policy. So my elderly father has to move along with continuing to pay for the generator which he no longer needs, and a service contract which they sold him, not refundable for a generator that is still under a years warranty. They should be ashamed. Buyers please beware of this company. read more
