Charming decor. Large coffee menu. Food? Below average- small portions. Nothing special…read more Service ? Not great. No one checked on us after food arrived. To refill my drink, I had to get up and go to the counter and was ignored by the young girls chatting with a boy. I was only acknowledged when I said "excuse me." And as the young girl got the pitcher out to pour my tea, she turned and talked to the boy again making me wait before filling my glass 2/3 full. We again had to get up to request our check. There was only 1 other table with people so they were not busy. Clueless on how to serve customers. Coffee? Maybe. Food? No I ordered the breakfast skillet. Two small biscuits, with sausage gravy ( average) 1 scrambled egg and bacon ( looked like less than 1 strip crumbled on top. $10. I expected more. Husband ordered a BLT on wheat. Again nothing special. Minimal bacon. Came with a side of chips. They appeared to be the little bits left at the bottom of the bag. Disappointing. We came here based on yelp reviews. Maybe people were charmed by the decor? Skip this place.

On my continuing drive-about breakfast adventures, I stumbled into Edison Depot -- part restaurant,…read morepart coffee shop, part ice cream parlor, and 100% small-town charm. First impression? The place was incredibly clean -- the kind of clean where you almost hesitate to set down your coffee mug because you don't want to mess up the shine. Inside, the locals were holding court: talking crops, local happenings, and laughing like this was their morning news network. It felt less like eavesdropping and more like I'd been drafted into the Edison Breakfast Club. I went with the Country Fried Steak and scrambled eggs (the waitress must've sensed I needed backup protein). The food was solid, classic diner fare -- hearty enough to fuel a day of farming, driving, or just another round of local gossip. The real MVP? The service. My waitress treated coffee refills like an Olympic relay -- the bottom of my cup never once saw daylight. For the tribe, I ordered a breakfast bowl, a half order of biscuits and gravy, some bacon, and even oatmeal to keep things balanced. The portions were generous, and it all packed up neatly for the road. Pro Tip: Don't just come hungry, come curious. Sit back, sip your coffee, and you'll leave knowing more about Edison crops than you ever planned. Verdict: Edison Depot is the kind of place where breakfast isn't just a meal -- it's a community event with eggs, gravy, and unlimited coffee on the side.

It's a unique place with an old train car built into the structure. Be careful on the steps. Tjey don't have anything vegan and not much is vegetarian, but my parents enjoy the burgers and say it's much better than fast food. I had a grilled cheese with fries. It was good, if a little basic, but it was also really cheap. Could make it at home, but nice to eat out sometimes. Much cheaper than grilled cheese at a food truck. The burgers are cheaper than fast food so it is better to go here as opposed to a fast food chain. They also have an ice cream parlor, but I haven't tried that yet. Over it's pretty good.

Home of the Famous Bologna Sandwich…read more That's the bold claim G & R Tavern has been making in Waldo, Ohio for more than 60 years, and judging by the line waiting outside when we arrived shortly after noon, plenty of people believe it. Located in a village of about 300 residents, G & R Tavern has become one of Ohio's most popular destination restaurants. Visitors come from all over the state to try the sandwich that put this small-town tavern on the map. Founded in 1962 by George Yake and Roy Klingel, G & R Tavern has become a true Ohio institution. In 1985, Rick's family purchased the restaurant and has continued the tradition ever since. During our visit, I had the opportunity to speak with Rick and learn that the next generation is already preparing to carry on the family tradition. In a time when many independent restaurants struggle to survive from one generation to the next, that's something worth celebrating. The atmosphere is exactly what longtime fans have come to love. Wood-paneled walls, a bustling dining room, homemade pies in the dessert case, and an old-school charm that feels increasingly rare today. Even the cash-only policy somehow feels right at home here. As for the famous sandwich, it continues to live up to its reputation. This Ohio classic features a thick-cut slice of fried bologna topped with melted American cheese, sweet pickles, and onion on a soft bun. It's simple, flavorful, and easy to understand why people continue making the trip to Waldo year after year. Perhaps the strongest endorsement came from my wife, who ordered the fried bologna sandwich as well. That's not something she would normally choose, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. The fries were hot and crispy and made a great companion to the meal. Some places become popular for a season. Places like G & R Tavern become part of Ohio's history. However- I'm glad we came. Let's start with the Con as there is only minor things. The wait time to get our food was excessive. Took 45 mins to get our food for a family of 3. I think they may cook one table order at a time?? If we didn't have a 5 hour drive back home I wouldn't have been a big deal. The fries were crispy and fresh just need seasoning. Pros: Server was on top of things and very polite and welcoming. The food was DELICIOUS. The WINGS were cooked to absolute perfection. Huge wings and plentiful. Absolutely got your money's worth. The side salad was fresh and big. Husband said his burger was juicy and good. I just can't get over the wings!! Crispy, juicy, hot, mild sauce was perfect. OMG I'm going to crave these in the future. We would def come back here the next time we are passing through. This is a hidden gem!
