-Limited Menu, Unlimited Taste-…read more I used to go to Dave's Cosmic Subs in Macedonia all the time, in fact, I've probably eaten half the menu there. While at the Cleveland Zoo, I noticed that they have a location in the food court area. The line was long, but moving at a steady pace, so we hopped in line. Sadly, they didn't have the "Super Dave" sub I'm used to getting, but I quickly was able to find an option that suited me. I ordered myself a "Crazy Dave" sub and eagerly waited for my name to be called. It's just as good as I remember, so I wasn't surprised that the line was longer than Pizza Hut and McDonald's lines combined. Their sandwiches are made from seemingly fresher ingredients than most of the food places that the zoo has to offer. It's a bit sloppy (overstuffed with meats, cheeses, and vegetables), so be prepared to ask for napkins. The prices are great for the portion size, I'd say that the price is about the same as other locations (I know some zoo restaurants have inflated pricing). You could get away with splitting a sandwich with a friend, or saving half during your walk of the zoo. By far, this is one of the best places to stop and grab food at the Cleveland Zoo, it's located at the food court next to the indoor seating area. I highly recommend that you try it out if you're looking for a healthier option that tastes fantastic.

This was a hard one to rate. The space is super cool. Old firehouse. There is some seats and…read moreoutside searing. No parking. That will be your challenge. There are streets and a few lots. Good luck. They have a happy hour. We took advantage of that. $10 chicken sandwich and $5 fries. The fries are fresh cut and plenty to share. Super good. I am told the chicken sandwich was good. Chicken was thick and good. Pickles mayo all good. I got the pastrami. Pastrami is sliced thick with slaw and their homemade mustard. Pastrami good. Bread ok. Slaw OK. The homemade mustard was super strong and not that enjoyable. Had a kinda a horseradish taste. Didn't like it at all. Took over the meat. The meat by itself was pretty good. Moist, tender, tastee. But with the whole sandwich not good. Next time I know. And the sandwich for $18 was thick pieces of meat, I think I would have preferred sliced thin and stacked. Kinda like corn beef is. I think I wouldn't have fought eating it so much. Thick slices were awkward and I couldn't eat it cleanly. It was a puzzle that kept falling apart. Had to put it back together and with the mustard was too much for me. I did get a chocolate phosphate. Hadn't had one in a decade. It was good. Paper straw made it impossible to drink the last few sips cuz it can't hold up. We did get a black and white cookie to go and an oatmeal pie. Both really good. Oh and if you see a bakery item get it when you see it. Otherwise it's gone. Ordering dinner I saw a chocolate chip cookie but by the time I went to get it, it was gone. Prices for happy hour were good. But it's not cheap. Our bill was $47 total. That was 2 sandwiches, 1 order of fries, 2 drinks a phosphate and canned drink. No cookies. We got those later. So not cheap. Would I go back. Yes. I feel like I would try something else and give it a shot. I think now I know I'd do better.

Service was quick, and the staff was really helpful since it was my first time. The space has an old-school neighborhood deli feel lively, intimate, and the kind of place where everyone seems to know each other. I went with the pastrami on rye with Swiss and mustard, asking for the meat to be sliced a little thinner. The mustard had just enough kick, but the pastrami was the star. Tender, flavorful, and easily some of the best I've had. The sauerkraut was excellent too. The portions were generous, the prices were fair, and I can definitely see why people recommend this place. Easy 9/10. I'll absolutely be back.
