Italian Beef 2 Au Jus Egg Rolls
    Olga N.

Au Jus is a casual eatery that specializes in authentic Chicago-style Italian beef sandwiches. I heard all about this place on social media. Finally decided to stop in when I was driving by and noticed "open late" sign. AMBIANCE: Simple cafe with minimal decor. White walls and digital menus. Faux marble wrap around bar and a few chairs are available to dine in. All guests were picking up to go orders during my visit. FOOD: The menu is straightforward. It was easy to review it during first visit and make quick decisions. There are multiple categories including Italian beef sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, pressed sandwiches, and sides. I ordered Philly sandwich ($13), fresh cut fries ($4.25), and two Italian beef egg rolls ($5). I ordered Philly sandwich since it's a classic and I felt like it would be the best choice. The meat tasted high quality. Unfortunately, I did not like any dishes. Meat in Philly sandwich was bland and could use more seasoning. It seemed like something was missing - cheese or something like mayo or other ingredients. It was literally bread and meat. The price for the size did not seem like good value. Italian beef egg rolls were dry both exterior shell and meat. The fries were a bit soggy but included a generous portion. I didn't eat much of my meal. Perhaps other menu items are tastier. The cafe has rewards program through Toast. You receive sign up 25 bonus points then 1 point for every $1.25 spent. Although my points did not calculate accurately, less points were provided. SERVICE: I didn't feel especially welcome and was rushed. The service was very quick, order was available in minutes. It was very impressive. This eatery is a good destination if you're craving quickly served sandwiches. It's especially true later in the day or on weekends when most businesses in Parma open early. I didn't find any favorite menu items but you might!

Large Spicy Trifecta - huge portion of delicious food

Au Jus has been on my list to try for a while- we're just never in that part of town. The owner is active on the All Things Food FB page and posts a lot of creative meals. Looks mouth-watering. We stopped in a couple weeks ago and the front area was packed with happy diners and people waiting for food. I entirely intended on getting an Italian Beef, but they have a Cuban and I can't resist so.... Our food was hot and fresh ready in an appropriate amount of time. What I mean by that is- nothing seemed microwaved or prepped too early or stale bread, soggy toppings. Nope. They don't cut corners here. Everything is fresh sliced and top quality ingredients. Now, my Cuban. I love a Cuban, but I have no idea what an authentic Cuban sandwich is supposed to taste like. I imagine this is the closest, because this was the best I have ever had. I don't make proclamations like that very often. The roast pork was out of this world. So much flavor and thoughtfulness. Not too overpowering, but offered hints of spice and citrus. Total perfection. Slathered with ham, pickles, melty Swiss cheese.... Yum. The bread was a little large or under filled for the sandwich, but the sub roll was tasty and toasty. I didn't mind having a few bites of just bread so I could try the au jus that came with husbands sandwich. I absolutely loved this sandwich and have been thinking about it since. Husband had the large Italian Beef and was shocked it fit his ample appetite. So delicious, with or without the jus. This meal was worth every cents high-quality ingredients, a creative and skilled chef, hard-working employees make this my favorite recent discovery. Do yourself a favor and stop by

Wow, this is a first. Came in to try a third time. Guy asked if I had previously been there and was I a Yelp Elite? I told him I had been and am a Yelp Elite. He said he knew I left him multiple bad reviews and asked me to leave. He must have my Yelp picture up on a dart board in back. I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" Didn't know 3 star reviews with constructive criticism were deal killers. Oh well. Went down to Corleone's and had a fantastic lunch! On our way home I stopped at GFS and bought Ditka's Italian Beef, then Heinens for Giardiniera and a freshly backed French roll.. Looking forward to a better dinner than I could ever get at this place for a fraction of the price!

The sandwiches were so delicious we devoured them before I could take pictures! Fresh bread, absolutely fantastic roasted beef. Service with a smile. The cold Italian was made to specifications. The kitchen was the cleanest id ever seen!! I did take pics of the immaculate kitchen before I left...these were taken in the middle of the day!

Best beef sandwich EVER!! Better than Chicago ;) Inside it's a very simple ordering area with a couple of high top chairs similar to a pizza shop. The staff is always eager to serve up amazing food and they really load those beefers up! Fresh melt in your mouth beef, incredible homemade au jus.... the fries are perfect too! Go get some!!

I have been here only a couple of times, but each time the staff was very nice and the food was good. You get a big portion for the price. You are able to sit inside, but its very small. I know their corned beef was just for St Paddy's Day, but it was fantastic. I recommend checking them out.

Now let me start with I am a Chicago native and I know my Italian Beefs! These are very high quality beef with little to NO fat. Spices were spot on. So hard if not close to impossible to find an authentic Chicago style beef here in the Cleveland area but they nailed it. Friendly service that also offers some counter top space to dine in.

The beef tenderloin was tender and delicious. The funghetto is in a sauce with tomatoes and herbs on top of the tenderloin. Aside of the tenderloin was gently sautéed fresh broccoli, green and red peppers as well as yellow squash and carrots. Also included was a side of spaghetti in a tasty marinara sauce. I had the house salad with traditional dressing of oil and vinegar. I would only advise with the crunchy bread to be a little more generous. With three small pieces my friend knows I want more than two so she gets a little upset when I take two. I did ask for more bread though and Matteo brought it. Thank you Matteo! I met Aldo, the original owner long ago so we have been dining here a long time. My friend Barb said her parents used to bring her to Aldo's at the holidays and her birthdays when she was younger. The atmosphere is warm and cozy! I'm Sicilian so I feel like when I'm at Aldo's, I'm surrounded by amici! P.S. your uncle Bruno has blue eyes!

By the time we finished dessert and espresso, it was about 9:30. What made the experience especially disappointing was the owner's behavior. Instead of allowing us to finish our evening comfortably, the owner began flickering the dining room lights to signal that we should leave. It felt extremely rude and unprofessional, especially considering the delays throughout the evening were entirely on the restaurant's end--not ours. A long wait can happen, but good customer service and professionalism should never disappear. Unfortunately, the owner's attitude turned what could have been an enjoyable meal into a very negative experience. I would not recommend this restaurant based on how we were treated.

The first course was complimentary breads with olive tapenade. The breads were so rustic and delicious. The olive tapenade was a great dipping sauce. For appetizer, I got fried calamari. It was a modern Italian twist. The fried calamari was so tender. It had light breading. It was fried together with olives, sun dried tomatoes, sliced shiitake mushrooms and some basils. It was so good that I kept eating it. For entrees, I got the bone-in CAB ribeye. It was cooked medium rare. The steak was juicy, tender and had a little bite to it. The asparagus was great in the dish. However, I was not too keen on crispy potatoes with Gorgonzola cheese. The cheese kinda made the potatoes a bit salty. I didn't enjoyed it at all. The beef short rib was another entree I tried as well. It was tender but the flavor was not deep and complex. Overall, the restaurant did a good job with the food. I don't drink anymore, so seeing a non alcoholic drink section was nice to see. I was made aware that the base of the Aplos was very herbal and tart. The first one brought to me was very tart. Very, very tart. I was not a fan, my dad was going to drink it, our waitress: Deja noticed and offered to have it remade. I accepted, the bartender came out to drop it off and explained how she changed it up. She stood by me and waited until I tried it. A bit much, it was better. The tartness was only at the end for a brief moment. They didn't have a specific gluten free menu, but Deja did tell us what was naturally gluten free and/or could be modified. A lot of the food is made in house. A lot of it looked appealing, but they had gluten free noodles that were not made in house. So I went with a trusted filet mignon cooked medium. The demi glace was an excellent touch. The potatoes were pretty good. The broccolini wasn't what I was hoping for. My parents dishes were much larger. Leftovers were had and enjoyed on a second day. I would maybe try the short ribs next time we would go. The building is very rustic and decorative. The bathroom is upstairs; an elevator is present is needed. A very interesting place. Staff and kitchen very accommodating. The prices are high for the amount you're given. Would love some in house pasta that is gluten free with an in house sauce. I was there primarily for the company. Not my favorite spot. I would be willing to go again.
