Love the food, not much is sitting room, but the prices are fair and the food is good!

I would have made this 3.5 stars if I could. Plusses: Large portions. The large Italian beef was indeed large (I should have ordered the regular; the large is more than any one person should eat) and packed with beef. The portion of fries was big, too. Quick service. Took only a few minutes to get my order. Minuses: While there was a lot of beef, the spicy giardinera was on the skimpy side. Traditionally, that would be piled high and falling off; this was not much and buried inside. The fries were limp; a few seemed not quite cooked through. My first bite into the beef puzzled me. It was mushy. This continued throughout the sandwich. From the pinkish hue of some of the beef, I'm guessing this might be due to being cooked less than I'm used to? In any case, it was disconcerting. And the jus was much plainer than I'm used to, as well. I expected to see flecks of oregano and other spices; this version was darker and seemed to be lacking those. It may be unfair to compare this to my expectations. Maybe, if you're new to Italian beef, you might enjoy this. But if you're looking for a Buona / Mr. Beef / Portillo's experience, you won't find it here. read more

Finally decided to stop in when I was driving by and noticed "open late" sign. AMBIANCE: Simple cafe with minimal decor. White walls and digital menus. Faux marble wrap around bar and a few chairs are available to dine in. All guests were picking up to go orders during my visit. FOOD: The menu is straightforward. It was easy to review it during first visit and make quick decisions. There are multiple categories including Italian beef sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, pressed sandwiches, and sides. I ordered Philly sandwich ($13), fresh cut fries ($4.25), and two Italian beef egg rolls ($5). I ordered Philly sandwich since it's a classic and I felt like it would be the best choice. The meat tasted high quality. Unfortunately, I did not like any dishes. Meat in Philly sandwich was bland and could use more seasoning. It seemed like something was missing - cheese or something like mayo or other ingredients. It was literally bread and meat. The price for the size did not seem like good value. Italian beef egg rolls were dry both exterior shell and meat. The fries were a bit soggy but included a generous portion. I didn't eat much of my meal. Perhaps other menu items are tastier. The cafe has rewards program through Toast. You receive sign up 25 bonus points then 1 point for every $1.25 spent. Although my points did not calculate accurately, less points were provided. SERVICE: I didn't feel especially welcome and was rushed. The service was very quick, order was available in minutes. It was very impressive. This eatery is a good destination if you're craving quickly served sandwiches. It's especially true later in the day or on weekends when most businesses in Parma open early. Au Jus has been on my list to try for a while- we're just never in that part of town. The owner is active on the All Things Food FB page and posts a lot of creative meals. Looks mouth-watering. We stopped in a couple weeks ago and the front area was packed with happy diners and people waiting for food. I entirely intended on getting an Italian Beef, but they have a Cuban and I can't resist so.... Our food was hot and fresh ready in an appropriate amount of time. What I mean by that is- nothing seemed microwaved or prepped too early or stale bread, soggy toppings. Nope. They don't cut corners here. Everything is fresh sliced and top quality ingredients. Now, my Cuban. I love a Cuban, but I have no idea what an authentic Cuban sandwich is supposed to taste like. I imagine this is the closest, because this was the best I have ever had. I don't make proclamations like that very often. The roast pork was out of this world. So much flavor and thoughtfulness. Not too overpowering, but offered hints of spice and citrus. Total perfection. Slathered with ham, pickles, melty Swiss cheese.... Yum. The bread was a little large or under filled for the sandwich, but the sub roll was tasty and toasty. I didn't mind having a few bites of just bread so I could try the au jus that came with husbands sandwich. I absolutely loved this sandwich and have been thinking about it since. Husband had the large Italian Beef and was shocked it fit his ample appetite. So delicious, with or without the jus. Wow, this is a first. Came in to try a third time. Guy asked if I had previously been there and was I a Yelp Elite? I told him I had been and am a Yelp Elite. He said he knew I left him multiple bad reviews and asked me to leave. He must have my Yelp picture up on a dart board in back. I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" Didn't know 3 star reviews with constructive criticism were deal killers. Oh well. Went down to Corleone's and had a fantastic lunch! On our way home I stopped at GFS and bought Ditka's Italian Beef, then Heinens for Giardiniera and a freshly backed French roll.. Finally made it here, and it was worth the wait. I was hungry and ordered a large beef sandwich. It was filled with meat and tasted great. I have half the sandwich for dinner tomorrow. The fries were tasty too. I was asked if I wanted light, medium, or heavy salt, which I've never been asked before, but it was nice. Very nice owner! I have been here only a couple of times, but each time the staff was very nice and the food was good. You get a big portion for the price. You are able to sit inside, but its very small. Now let me start with I am a Chicago native and I know my Italian Beefs! These are very high quality beef with little to NO fat. Spices were spot on. So hard if not close to impossible to find an authentic Chicago style beef here in the Cleveland area but they nailed it. The food was fantastic. I got an Italian beef sandwich because I was craving one and it was everything I expected it to be. Juicy, tender, and perfectly constructed. hours listed to be open until 9:30 PM, drove my son and I from Akron, which is over a 30 min drive to try sandwiches which I heard nothing but great things about. Was greeted by a very stressed angry looking guy who I presume is the owner, asked if I had placed an order, said no, and then he said they were no longer taking orders for the day. This was at 8 PM. He said it was because they were very busy earlier and they had a very long day and that he is working 100 hours per week. I asked if I could maybe get a discount the next time I drove back, he reluctantly agreed and asked my first name, and then went on about how he had to turn down orders from his own friends, several hundred +, dollar orders, etc., and then he said the bottom line is I don't care. After hearing how great this place is I finally tried it. It was around 9pm and this place was still open. I was still hungry after a yelp event and decided to drive and try this place. The whole experience didn't disappoint. I ordered online from the parking lot right in front of the place and went right in. The people behind the counter were super friendly and made the wait for my order go quickly. It's not really a place to eat food so took my food and we ate in the car. I got the Cuban sandwich and onion rings (which you can order extra crispy). The first look at the sandwich my heart dropped cause I couldn't see anything like meat in it. But upon taking a bite I did find the meat. It was tasty and I did enjoy it so much I ate the whole thing, and it's a huge sandwich. The onion rings were wonderful. They use a thin batter so the rings aren't as heavy as most places but still taste great. Plus they were nice and crispy. My mom got the philly sandwich with peppers added for an additional fee. Nah. Decent size sandwich and fries but the taste was nothing special. I prefer Dibella's or even Mr Hero's over this. One thing I really didn't like, since there were no prices listed for the toppings, I assume there was no up charge like at Dibella's. When the girl said $20 for my small sandwich and fries I was confused. Well I was charged $3.25 for my topping. I think that's shady to not have prices yet charge you! SMH! Oh and of course the menu prices weren't the same that was posted on Yelp. What's up with all this outdated menu pricing all over Yelp?! I mean maybe the pix can't be deleted but the establishment should be sure to post current menu prices. The fresh cut fries ya really need malt vinegar with them and they don't have vinegar. Sup with that? It was a toss up for take out that night between them that and a favorite wasabi hibachi place and I'd wish I went the hibachi! I thought I was getting a quality Italian beef sandwich from like Chicago, but it was so so there au jus was primarily soy sauce so that's all you tasted.... If there's you was better, this would get a higher reading, but sadly it's Cleveland. read more

What a coincidence I just finished binging The Bear (loved the show) then this place opens up near my house! FYI ordered my food to go so fries and onion rings were soggy when I got home and man did my car smell like grease during that ride. Ordered the famed Italian beef with au jus on the side. When I unwrapped sandwich didn't looks like enough meat but each bite was tasted like it was enough. Flavor definitely enhanced with the dipping sauce. Don't skip out on that! I wouldn't say it's better than in Chicago, but still quite tasty. Also ordered pressed Philly sandwich. Bread was fresh and nice complement. Didn't look like large service but I was definitely full at the end. Good quality beef but maybe would have been better with more mayo. Lots of other items I'm curious to try. Overall 4 stars. For the food, the customer service and for what seemed to be a very clean and organized kitchen. The beef was extremely tender. Overall it was very tasty. I'm extremely picky when it comes to meat and seasoning. If it still tastes like plain meat to me I can't do it. There was just a few bites I felt that way. The bread was so soft! Peppers had a nice kick. The regular size is big..for most people it's probably big enough to share. The au jus sauce was good, a little salty, but definitely not crazy salty. I tried the beef egg rolls as well and they were pretty good. I got the garlic aioli sauce to go with them since I was getting the au jus with the sandwich..so glad I did, it was delicious! Get yourself to Au Jus, the hype is worth it! Magnificent Italian Beef, truly outstanding. The spicy giardiniera is quite spicy and we like heat. We also tried the Cubano & onion rings, both were good, but the beef is the stand out for sure. Portions are very big and priced excellent for the quality and quantity of the food. Also, this was the cleanest restaurant kitchen I've ever seen! We got to chat a bit with @Jakob Kelly who is a really terrific and passionate man. The only downside is there is really no place to eat inside. We live in Avon Lake and I didn't want to try the food cold so we eat in our truck in a nearby bank parking lot. I didn't get any pictures, but I wouldn't recommend wearing your nice clothes when eating here :) read more
