We walked in around 11:30 a.m. There was only one other customer (a dad and his son) and the person who walked in just before us, who appeared to either be a friend or a regular, based on how all three employees greeted her. While they were extremely friendly to her, we weren't acknowledged at all--not even a simple "We'll be right with you." Instead, the employees stood there for more than five minutes talking about how business was, how they slept, what they did over the weekend, melatonin, and other personal topics. During that time, no one took our order or made any effort to help us. After waiting, I finally said, "If you guys are going to keep having a conversation, can we at least order our coffee and get that started?" They looked at me like I had said something unreasonable. One employee, who was sitting at a table near the counter coloring, muttered something under her breath, and they still didn't take our order. Instead, they continued their conversation. At that point, we left. This experience was completely unacceptable. Great customer service starts with acknowledging people when they walk through the door, especially when your shop is nearly empty. Unfortunately, this first impression ensured we won't be back, and I can't recommend this business to others.

I thought maybe the first experience was just an off day for the waitresses. Unfortunately, after going back, I realized it wasn't a one-time thing. Each time, I've found the service to be rude, dismissive, and generally unwelcoming. There seems to be a select group of staff who are very close with certain customers and will spend their time talking with and befriending them, while other customers are seemingly ignored. I've also noticed staff spending a lot of time on their phones or sitting at the bar instead of checking on customers. The overall attitude from some of the staff gives off major "mean girl" energy. It's especially noticeable because there was a newer staff member during my most recent visit who was genuinely kind, attentive, and good at her job. I really enjoyed interacting with her, and she honestly stood out from the rest in the best way. The food is just okay and, in my opinion, lacks flavor. If you order it to go, expect it to be pretty soggy by the time you get home. I gave this place multiple chances because I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately the repeated poor service and mediocre food have completely turned me off. I won't be returning.

I also appreciate the friendliness of the staff. The Clinton Culver's did not disappoint in any of those respects. My only critique of the Clinton Culver's is that it is not handicapped friendly. My sister, brother-in-law and adult nephew were visiting from Maryland. We wanted to introduce them to Culver's and indeed they also loved it. Our only issue was that my nephew uses canes to get around. He was able to enter the men's restroom without any issues. However, he became trapped inside. The door is super heavy and opens inward. He was unable to position himself where his canes did not block the door from opening while trying to pull it open himself. He was trapped until someone opened the restroom door from the outside. A button to open the door would have been so helpful. That's the only reason I'm not giving Culver's a five-star review.
