Delicious and had a good amount of heat. We ordered the queso as well. Not bad, needs a little more seasoning, but it was good! 2. My gf bad the quesa birria..soo good!! Cheese and meat were loaded in the tortillas! The consume has so much flavor! So wonderful! 3. I ordered the signature dish, El Rey Sol plate. My only complaint I could give would be the beans and rice. The beans had an off taste to them.(maybe add bacon fat?) The rice seemed a little overcooked, but the flavor was still there. A little salsa on them and BAM! They were right back in the game! The Enchilada, taco, and tostada were excellent. The chili relleno was delicious! I got mine with cheese, and omg it was loaded!!! Lastly.. the star for me was the tamale.. I haven't had one better than El Rey Sol since Delia's in South Texas. I could smash a dozen of them by myself! Top it all off with amazing and knowledgeable staff members.. just a wonderful dining experience. We will 1000% be back very soon!!

Despite the crowd, we received our order fairly quickly, I think because we just ordered desserts, not meals. Right after we got our order, a young girl, who appeared to be with her elderly grandparents, asked the manager (I believe) about their order. They had been waiting since before we arrived, and we got our order before they did. It was a legit question. But the manager got angry and threatened to call the cops. The manager said the school kids were a priority and she would just call her brother, who is a cop, if they had a problem with it. I have no idea what could have warranted that response from the manager. There was no yelling or any sort of aggression, just a question. I was horrified. My family and I left...we just wanted a treat, not drama. I don't know what happened afterwards, but no one deserves that kind of treatment.

For me, I'm a little ambivalent about Carl's Jr. It's about in the middle for me. I do like their commercials though. The waffle fries are an upcharge and are only available in a medium size, not large. I'll take waffle fries over regular fries any day of the week, even for a small upcharge. The chicken wasn't bad. It was charred nicely. The bacon was a little limp, but overall, it did the job. I enjoyed the waffle fries the best. They were fresh. They had not been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time which is always a risk at a fast food joint. For what it is, Carl's Jr. makes for a decent late night selection when you're on the road.

If that's the case, a little weird because sauces are pretty much always free at fast food restaurants. Last but not least, the corn dog was solid too. Not something you typically see on a fast food menu either. It made me feel like I was at the rodeo. All of the food seemed pretty fresh (and not sitting under a heat lamp for a while as you'll get with some fast food).
