After driving for over 8 hours we were hungry. Saw this place on Google and decided to give it a try. We were glad we did! The chili cheese burritos and bourbon bacon cheeseburgers were excellent. Unbelievable! Such a random spot to find some seriously delicious food. The burgers are fire, and the buffalo fries hit the spot too. I'm from California and used to some good food. Doing a road trip from San Antonio to El Paso. We decided to stop for lunch in Fort Stockton and didn't want a chain restaurant. We saw V's kitchen and decided to stop here. The server greeted us and gave us some really good recommendations. I ordered the chicken strips and they were really good. They came with fries and a sauce. I chose the ranch sauce and it was amazing. I saw some people with burgers and they looked really good as well. We will be back to try the burgers. read more

We stopped here on our way to El Paso after reading several good reviews. The restaurant is located in a small strip center with plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is small yet has lots of seating. We sat ourselves and had our drink order taken. After glancing at the menu I decided on the buffalo chicken Sammich and my daughter chose the chicken tenders. Our meals can out fairly quick. Everything looked delicious but better yet tasted amazing! The hand cut fries were delicious and seasoned just right. The chicken patty was real chicken not the frozen kind. The whole sandwich was phenomenal! If you're driving through town make a stop here, you won't be disappointed! read more

Passing by Fort Stockton and looked at reviews for good burger joints and this was the first one to pop up. Holy heck, so glad I decided to stop in. Very good food!! I got a burger with fries. Hamburger 9/10 - well toasted bun and a 7oz chuck burger were a perfect combo. Had fresh veggies on the side. The bun was not overwhelming at all. I did add bacon to the burger which was cooked perfectly. The burger setup comes dry, but they have all the condiments you need if you want to add anything. French Fries 9/10 - hand cut potatoes that were fried and seasoned just right. They were fire actually!! Probably some of the best fries I've had in awhile!! Customer Service 9/10 - walked and greeted with a warm welcome and awesome staff! My server was Arian who was patient to explain everything and was very friendly and attentive. Even the head chef, Vincent came by to chat. A cool place that is very inviting. Atmosphere 8/10 - simple, but effective. This was such a good experience! The man working was so friendly and provided the BEST customer service. Our drinks were never empty and he checked up on us the perfect amount of times. The food was amazing! My fries were crispy and fresh, the burger was also super fresh and I could tell it was all made from scratch. If you are traveling through Fort Stockton this stop is a MUST. Stopped by here on my way through town and glad I did! Best burger, fries, and banana pudding I've had in memory! Everything was homemade, very fresh, seasoned to perfection. The burger was juicy, portions were not skimpy, good quality cheese, was not a commercial bun, meat wasn't a frozen patty. Crispy, hand cut fries! Banana pudding wasn't too sweet, not too heavy. Our family was traveling through Fort Stockton and stopped here for dinner, because of the good reviews. We loved it!!! We had three meals - the chili cheese burger with curly fries, the patty melt with regular fries and the chili cheese fries. The homemade fries were delicious and the chili is some of the best I've ever had. Everything was great, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The server was phenomenal - super friendly, knowledgeable and patient! She gave us samples to help decide what we wanted to order. We will definitely be back anytime we're in the area! read more

Bypass the fast food! Go here. Awesome, really good burger, fresh made (and very good) buns. It doesn't get any fresher! When you're on the road, this is the place to go specially if you don't want fast food. We called in and ordered to go and they had it ready. We drove in got some gas. It's convenient right off the interstate and it was super yummy. Healthy and good size portions was beyond enough, not a greasy spoon. The hamburgers are made from fresh ground beef that they ground themselves way to go local in a small town. Next I-10 trip I will make sure I arrive I Ft Stockton when they are open. So yummy! Yelp was created for places just like this. A local joint, owned by a former Marine. He doesn't make a ton of different foods. There's no need to. For, what they do make here is simply fantastic! Burgers and fried chicken! About as American as it gets. The burgers are think and juicy, full of flavor. The bun is hand made. I ordered the Bourbon Burger and Man oh man is it a gem of a burger! A thick juicy burger on a dense and slightly sweet bun. You'd almost think it was a type of Hawaiian Bread bun. It's topped with cheese and then smothered in bourbon sautéed onions. I had a grilled chicken salad. At a burger place! I know being a silly goose it was an enjoyable. Burger looked delicious. Steer clear of the wraps though. Go to the salad. On our drive through west Texas we were delighted with a quick well crafted lunch. The grilled chicken salad was the best I have had. It is huge ( think share it?!). The chicken cut up in delicious bite sized savory pieces. The greens were all healthy (no iceberg). The mango pineapple home made dressing on the side was interesting and tasty. I would order this again. The crispy chicken sandwiches and sweet potato fries were inhaled with vigor. The burger was hand made and juicy. Make it a point to stop here. Amazing service with a smile! Found this little gem for lunch while traveling. Service was quick, food was amazing. We shared a salad so that we could enjoy dessert too. 5 stars - A Must-Stop Spot, Especially for Families on the Road! We're currently on day two of a long trip, and V's Kitchen was exactly what we needed. Yesterday, our 15-month-old barely touched anything we offered her--we kept stopping at places that served chicken hoping to find something she'd like, but no luck. Today, we found V's Kitchen, and thank goodness we did! They had rice and chicken on the menu, and if you're a toddler parent, you know that rice is usually a win. Sure enough, our daughter devoured it--ate more than she has all trip! That alone gave us such peace of mind. My husband ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. I had the spinach wrap with a side salad, and it was so filling I couldn't even finish the wrap. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, even the rice and chicken we sampled from our daughter's plate--it was delicious! As a bonus, the place was very clean, including the bathrooms (which is always a big deal on road trips). We also grabbed a cup of Oreo pudding, and let me tell you--I'm not usually a dessert person, but it was so good! The owner is a former Marine, and as two active duty Marines ourselves, it felt great to support a fellow service member. You can tell there's pride and care behind this business. Highly recommend V's Kitchen to anyone passing through--whether you're traveling with kids, looking for a hearty meal, or just want to support a veteran-owned gem. I asked Google for dog friendly restaurants and this came up. It is NOT dog friendly, but apparently the hotdog is good. We stayed for lunch anyway and had a really great experience. Literally the friendliest server I've ever encountered. We had salads with chicken and both the grilled and fried were delicious and juicy. They also offer a plethora of house made dressings which were very tasty. We tried the onion vinaigrette and the cilantro lime vinaigrette. We also shared an order of tater tots which were served very hot and tasted like they made them onsite. Delicious. Only 5 minutes off I-10. Super clean, big portions of tasty food, great service, and a discount for cash. Highly recommend if you're passing through. read more

This tiny little place in San Antonio, Texas turned out to be one of our absolute favorites on our road trip! Very unassuming to look at but you sure can't judge it by that! We saw the great yelp reviews and decided to try V's Kitchen. I had the bourbon burger and my husband had the chuck burger. Both were amazing. The staff were friendly, outgoing, and kind with everybody in the restaurant. We saw a takeout order with cheesecake and decided to take a cookies and cream cheesecake for the hotel. Best cheesecake ever! Wow. That will be hard to beat anywhere. So good. Everything was as stated in other 5 star reviews. So glad we stopped in. read more

It had a surprisingly large portion for 6 dollars, beating out McDonald's easily. Service was great, food came out quickly, and place was clean for a gas station. Quickly restocked depleted napkins. As I was getting hungry, I saw a sign for Carl's Jr. on the highway and proceeded to turn my right blinker on. Ambiance (3/5): It's a fast food restaurant. You're not going there for the ambiance and I didn't dine in. I ordered through the drive through. Pretty much what you would expect. Service (4/5): I placed my order, paid, and the cashier asked me to pull up a little past the drive through and he would bring my food to me. It came out in the timeframe I would expect. The only hiccup? No napkins or ketchup in the bag. Drinks (3/5): Your usual assortment of soft drinks. I went with a sweet tea. Food (3/5): We all have our power rankings when it comes to fast food. For me, I'm a little ambivalent about Carl's Jr. It's about in the middle for me. I do like their commercials though. This time around, I went with the chargrilled chicken sandwich (swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and mayo) combo with waffle fries. The waffle fries are an upcharge and are only available in a medium size, not large. I'll take waffle fries over regular fries any day of the week, even for a small upcharge. The chicken wasn't bad. It was charred nicely. The bacon was a little limp, but overall, it did the job. I enjoyed the waffle fries the best. They were fresh. They had not been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time which is always a risk at a fast food joint. For what it is, Carl's Jr. makes for a decent late night selection when you're on the road.

Hints of celery salt. I taste a little bit of raisins but do not see any. Roll - crunchy crust...really soft and pillowey inside. Yummy. Butter glazed I think Now for the star... the Chicken Crust is crispy and crunchy. The batter is seasoned. The chicken is juicy and hot, even after a 15 minute drive. They wouldn't even carry it out to my car and made me come inside with my newborn. The staff were complaining out loud about the order and questioning why I needed 90 tenders. The order was for a foster family's birthday party. The manager was the rudest of all. Overall, the customer service was very disappointing and left a negative impression. I expected better treatment, especially after placing a large order in advance.

When you're on long road trips, and time is of the essence, your dining options are limited…read more Especially late night. This was one of those situations. I stopped by Sonic on a Saturday night. It was a bizarre experience on multiple levels. I saw a sign about Sonic off of the highway. What's annoying is that the fast food joint is actually a few miles down rather than being right off of the highway. Not off to a good start. Ambiance (4/5): Sonic has the old school drive in diner vibe which is cool. A blast from the past. I used the drive through to place my order. Service (1/5): This is where things got weird. I placed my order and the amount I was quoted seemed a bit high. When I paid, I wasn't given a receipt. They also didn't give me my change. I have never seen that happen at a fast food restaurant. I should have said something, but I was tired and decided to let it fly. I'm not saying this is happening, but it's a possibility. For customers paying cash, maybe they overcharge a few dollars. Plus keep the change. And put something else in the computer so that the employees can cheat everyone out of a couple bucks. That multiplies after some time. Maybe it was an honest mistake. Just a bit shady. Drinks (N/A): I had a drink in my car, so I passed, but typically, getting a drink is a must at Sonic. Some of the best drinks in fast food. They're known for their slushes and cherry limeades. Next time around. Food (4/5): I ordered the mozzarella sticks (medium), fries with groovy sauce, and a corn dog. A dinner of champions. Not many fast food joints have mozzarella sticks so that was nice. For fast food, the mozzarella sticks were quite good. Nice pull factor on the cheese. And marinara sauce for dipping. I didn't know what groovy sauce was but I rolled with it. It's essentially a thousand island sauce. It may be an upcharge (I don't know 100% because I didn't receive my receipt). If that's the case, a little weird because sauces are pretty much always free at fast food restaurants. Last but not least, the corn dog was solid too. Not something you typically see on a fast food menu either. It made me feel like I was at the rodeo. All of the food seemed pretty fresh (and not sitting under a heat lamp for a while as you'll get with some fast food). While the food was pretty solid given the circumstances, the service left a lot to be desired.
