Instead, we both opted for the special. This restaurant is a small, not well lighted, small town feeling diner. The servers were nice young women who took our orders and checked on us a couple of time while we waited for our food. I kept hearing the kitchen bell ring, but food kept being delivered to other tables. While it did feel like we waited quite a while for the food to come out of the kitchen, we were pleasantly surprised when it did. It is not "fast food." The hamburger steaks were well spiced and well prepared. I wasn't really that impressed with the gravy, but it wasn't bad. The mushrooms and onions were okay. We both would have liked the onions thicker sliced. We chose fried okra, mashed potatoes and potato salad as our sides. My potato salad was very tasty and I'm told the mashed potatoes were excellent as well. We both had the okra as a side and we both agreed that the okra was fantastic. The head cook and owner came out to check the dining room as we were finishing up. She interacted with her customers and refilled some drinks. We found her to be a lovely person, very genuine and friendly. We truly felt appreciated and enjoyed the meal. We would like to return for the supper meal, the steaks and chops look great, but they are not on the lunch menu. I would recommend you try this little Southern Roots Bar and Grill.
