My Dad spent almost 8 weeks in Kindred. In that time my Dad and our family were treated with the…read moreutmost respect and professionalism by the Kindred staff. Whenever I entered the facility I was recognized and given a smile and by the end of my Dad's stay almost everyone knew of my Dad 's status and had updates for me before I even reached his room. The nurses at Kindred are very coordinated and always communicated with each other to make the decisions that best benefited my Dad in the precarious situation he was in. The right foot always knew what the left hand was doing, and that is rare in the medical profession. Nurse Manager Patricia really runs a tight ship, and she herself also personally answered questions I had and assisted me when I had concerns. I found that both the physical therapists and the respiratory nurses went above and beyond to help get my Dad in a position where he was ready to move on to the next part of his treatment. There are so many people to thank for their hard work that I'm sure I will forget some and there are some I never had the pleasure to meet or talk to. From the physical therapy staff: Denisse and Carmel. From the respiratory staff: Erika, Sanjiv, Carolina, and Marie. From the nursing staff: Cindy, Angie, Joesphine, Darlene, Michelle, Mitch, Carol Anne, Ruchi, Donna, Kelly, Janette, Maria, Amada, Theresa, Carolynn, Lorraine, Eva, Caesar, Sue, Bohdan, Cerite, Debbie, Melissa, Judy, and Jessie. From social service/admissions: Margaret, Ana, Maria, and Thomas. My only real complaint about Kindred is that the doctor staff is not very communicative (except for cardiologist Dr. Patel), as the doctors don't prefer to talk to patients, each other, or even doctors that had dealt with my Dad in the past. I gave the doctor handling my Dad's case the number of my Dad's PCP, and the Doctor at Kindred never once reached out to them, even when my Dad had a heart issue and the PCP's husband that has worked with my Dad is also a cardiologist. I know that the doctor also didn't look into my Dad's past medical history as towards the end of my Dad's stay he asked me a couple of questions that could have simply been answered by looking at his past medical history with the PCP. I also found that the other doctors involved in my Dad's case (orthopedic, neurologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist) didn't coordinate well with each other, as one doctor often didn't know what the other one was doing. I only spoke with my Dad's main doctor at Kindred 5 times, twice in person and three times over the phone, and though he was very respectful I found I had to ask specific questions to get information. The first time I spoke with him on the phone I got that impression when he basically told me "if there is anything important to tell you, I will call"; however there were a few occasions when there were important events, and he did not call me. I had to call him to find out specific information. This was true of all the other doctors involved except for Dr. Patel. I had to reach out to them to get specific information; it was never offered to me personally or even over the phone without me initiating contact. Thank goodness the nursing staff is so caring and proactive, as they were always the first to contact me whenever a situation arose out of the ordinary. The nursing staff almost always gave me specific information (when allowed) as to how my Dad was doing and what the future plans were in terms of his treatment. They really keep the ship sailing high and are the true caregivers at Kindred. I would most certainly recommend Kindred to a family member or friend. Though doctor communication is lacking, the nursing staff more than makes up for it with their knowledge, communication, personality, and professionalism. They made my Dad and my family feel at home in their facility, and we will forever be grateful to them for helping my Dad recover and move on to the next stage of his healing.

Ellen has got to be the most phony and rude nurse i have dealt with. my grandmother has been here…read morefor about a week, and ellen was nice in the beginning, and now has been nothing but hostile and rude. you ask her for something, she has an attitude. i had asked her for something to help with my grandmothers pain, and the attitude received was unbelievable. she said if you dont leave me alone, i wont get anything done. i apologized for bothering her, and she saId if it is not something 'critical' then to leave her alone. the absolute nerve, i am trying my hardest to make sure my grandmother feels 100%, and she has, until ellen returned. disgusting. would not come back here with ellen being employed.

My therapist G did a vigorous therapy plan for my foot and she made sure I received the appropriate treatment to bring my foot back to pain free! Brandon, my therapist, for my shoulder was just as amazing! He also planned a vigorous schedule and needless to say, my shoulder as well has been pain free! Besides being excellent in their profession, they are extremely friendly and makes your therapy sessions enjoyable. Tina, who is the administrator at the facility is so so very helpful, personable and always smiling. You're not only receiving top notch therapy, but you feel like a family atmosphere which is another plus. I must say that the people at the Rahway NJ facility are just outstanding. My occupational therapist was Amory Kalalo, OTR, and I would recommend him to anyone who needs occupational therapy. His skills are impeccable and his compassion and caring go far beyond his work just being a job. When I came to Holsman, my left hand was very swollen and I was very limited in using my hand but after three months of therapy I am able to use my hand. Amory worked with me faithfully three times a week and he knew exactly what was needed to help me get use of my hand again and swelling gone. Right from the beginning he encouraged me by saying "I will do everything that I know to help get your hand to functioning as close to where it was originally". I was very optimistic and filled with hope and looking forward to start therapy. I am so thankful for his commitment to helping others because if it weren't for his skills, caring and encouragement I would not have recovered as well as I have. Thank you, Amory. I would also like to thank Oliver Francis Rivera for the physical therapy he provided. Francis always challenged me to keep trying to do better and not to give up even though each step forward might be a bit harder. There were several times when there were 6-10 patients there with only 1 or 2 physical therapists. The PT assistants were not good. They would approach me and ask "what exercises did you do last time"? Never checking my file or consulting with my "PT". I also thought that the staff had excessive conversations with each other about sports, places to eat and their weekends. I felt like I was at a "frat party" several times. Unprofessional in my opinion. They did not focus on the patients. They were quick to assign several exercises and then leave you to do them never supervising or checking if you were doing the exercises correctly. In addition, loud music was playing every time I was there ...the manager constantly changing it and checking in with the staff to see if they liked it. Really? The last appointment I had was a Friday at 3. There were 7 patients there while a baby shower (or some sort of party) going on during business hours!!!!!! All PT's and assistants were enjoying the party while we were sitting there for over 15 minutes waiting to start out session - SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I shared this with my Ortho Doctor and he said this was the only place he herd "not so good" things about this palce.

As a mother to the patient, twin boro office staff helped me navigate difficult health insurance and doctor orders isuring my son was able to start his PT quickly after surgery. The doctors and assistants are so experienced, caring and attentive. I was impressed with the time they gave him, making sure he had a quick recovery since he has to go back to college. The environment is a relaxed, friendly and welcoming. I have gotten to know everyone personally while working through the migraines. The staff is stellar, but more importantly my treatment plan. Krishna was honest during every step the plan. She outlined the plan and helped it considerably to reduce the quantity of migraines on a monthly basis. I went from 15 migraines and headache a month to about 1 migraine a month. They have taught me to do my exercises at home in addition to my sessions. My dr at Union County Ortho and Kessler are in the same building. The Tuesday evening rehab team is great! My shoulder had been cracking from arthritis and tendonitis. After the very first session, the cracking was almost gone. Monte's team is very caring and want you to feel better. After 6 weeks op PT, returned to the dr, "surgery not needed" unless I have further painful symptoms! success :-) Am going to continue PT for a few more weeks to continue to strengthen the shoulder.
