Extraordinarily rude staff. I came in today to do my laundry, and the machine ate some of my quarters. I went to ask them about it, and was immediately met with disbelief, as if trying to scam them. A different person then came over and gave me the two quarters, while watching me put the rest of the quarters in the machine. Then I hear the staff talking about how rude I presumably am for asking for the quarters back to pay for the rest of my cycle. What a scam operation. If your machine is defective, it's not the customers responsibility to pay for it. Stay away, there's plenty of other reputable laundromats in the neighborhood. read more

Love this place. Been using them since i moved to Brooklyn over a year ago. They almost always answer the phone. They are reliable with pick up and drop off times. The cloths always come back clean and folded as well as sorted. Anytime you forget something in your pocket it comes back ontop the laundry in a small bag etc Over all this place does look shady ( but really what laundry mat doesn't ) but I have never once had a issue of any kind with them. read more

Know before you go - there are actually FOUR different washer sizes. You'd think that this would be obvious, but it's not when you're used to other places which usually only have two different sizes at best. Extra Large: 28 quarters ($7.00) for all cycles except Quick Wash: 27 quarters and Heavily Soiled: 29 quarters. You can wash most of your life's belongings in this. Large: 22 ($5.50) quarters for all cycles except Quick Wash: 21 quarters and Heavily Soiled: 23 quarters. You can get all your bedding and towels done at once. Medium: 16 ($4.00) quarters for all cycles except Quick Wash: 15 quarters and Heavily Soiled: 17 quarters. This is if you've procrastinated and have a ton of stuff to wash, or want extra water to thrash around a normal load. Standard: 10 ($2.50) quarters for all cycles except Quick Wash: 9 quarters and Heavily Soiled: 11 quarters. For small to standard loads. All dryers are the same (huge, industrial), and yield 6 minutes of drying time per quarter. You'll probably spend at least 2 bucks, since 48 minutes on high heat should be enough to thoroughly dry most loads. read more

Having laundry facilities onsite was a luxury that I blissfully enjoyed for six years. I recently moved to a bigger apartment, but sadly, there's no washing machine here and I'm back to the laundromat. Fortunately, Suds on 8th Avenue has made the pain all that much more bearable. TV, outdoor seating, ventilation....and sometimes, when I'm feeling particularly pressed for time, I drop off the laundry bag and pick it up the next day, with the clothes washed and folded in a much nicer way than I am ever capable of doing myself. The staff here is friendly and helpful and I got a really nice calendar for 2006. Bonus. read more

1) Speedy - dry cleaning gets back in two days, drop-off laundry is available the next day 2) Solid - clothes came back impeccable (dry cleaning clean and pressed, and what other drop off place does such perfectly folded bundles, held together with rubber bands to keep everything neat?) Definitely more expensive for laundry than I used to pay up in East Harlem, with way less washers and dryers, but there's definitely something to be said about having 4 different washer sizes. And there is REALLY something to be said for being able to get change for a $20 in paper bills before changing it all into quarters. Extra star for that service alone. Only open til 8:30? I have to do my laundry on weekends. I miss my 24 hour laundromat. :( read more

Pros: This place is good. Less crowded than 7th ave counterparts and the prices are fair. Machines are functional and do their job well, and the staff is helpful at finding you a washer or dryer if cycles have finished. Cons: Claim to play movies, but that hasn't been the case for 6 months now. The owner is a bit standoffish, too. read more

"LAUNDRY! " Without fail my lovely laundry lady answers the phone with this greeting! I give my address and before I know it my doorbell is ringing for the pick up. Same day return of my oh so fresh laundry. Our clothes are perfectly folded and organized. Only once did I get some thing that was not mine. Reasonably priced and I have my weekends back. My one fault is all the rubber bands that are used. But I am sure if I told them they would not use them. read more

We tried this place when we realized out favorite drop-off laundry guy was on vacation and we needed same day service pronto. They picked up and dropped off on time, calling beforehand and coming upstairs to our door. The price is reasonable and they offer a "no dry" option for clothes you prefer not to tumble. They did a nice job folding our clothes and returned everything we sent. I only wish they took credit cards! read more

Suds happens to be my closest laundry spot, but I've also always been very happy with their service and would use them if it were more of a hike. Drop-off clothes are clean and organized, dry cleaning is very reasonably priced, doing laundry in-house is always easy, and they are super nice people. I do my own laundry so all I really care about is that the machines are clean and don't eat my money and the staff is generally pleasant. I can't speak to what their actual laundry service is like. I went to do my weekly load of laundry. All the dryers were full. I generally separate my athletic gear and regular clothes when drying because we dry the tech fabric on a lower temp. (Which I don't really feel I should have to explain to anyone). All the dryers were full. The owner asked me how many I needed. And I said 2. She looked at my basket and said, no, you need one for that. Then the person behind me was asked the same question, also said 2 and she said oh ok. Frankly, it's none of anyone's business how I decide to separate my laundry to be washed or dried, especially if I'm doing it myself and paying for it. I also don't like leaving things in the dryer when they're already dry. So I prefer to split up my laundry in at least 2 dryers so things dry more quickly and I can get out of there. The woman behind me is white and didn't get attitude from the owner. My husband is white and didn't get attitude from the owner. Ever since I've gone there, she's been mildly hostile but this was the first time she has been this incredibly rude. I will NOT be going back there. And neither will my husband. read more

I have brought my laundry here every week for drop off/pick up for over a year and a half. However, I will never return after some recent happenings. 1) I called for pick up a few weeks ago, which I have done before. There are no signs in the store about a "required" weight for pickup or minimum. The guy on the phone asked me how big my laundry load was, and after saying about 20-25 lbs, he told me that was too small, and it had to be 28 lbs or more or he would have to charge me $50. Interesting, because it states that it's free everywhere, and I've done it before. I know the guy on the phone was the usual guy at night, so it wasn't some person that's new. So, that was sketchy incident number 1. 2) I dropped off my laundry last week, including my usual running tights that I train with. They were sweet tech tights that cost about 80 dollars, and I get them washed every week with the rest of my running clothes (and work clothes, and socks, and jeans, and normal clothes, etc.). I went to go for a run tonight and went looking for my tights, and could not find them. Sometimes they put them with the underwear since they do resemble long johns (I guess), and I found a pair of black tights. However... these were not my running tights. They were a female pair of black leggings/tights. Now, how did these get switched with mine? After no resolution from the worker, I will go tomorrow morning to demand money for my lost clothing. The guy tonight (same sketchy guy) yelled at me, and told me it's weird that that happened because no one touches it except them. Well, clearly, you lost my tights, and put in someone else's that you took, and or switched them with someone else's. Which also means you wash my stuff with other peoples' stuff. Either way, I am sketched out by the situation and pissed off that I was yelled at and treated like an idiot when I complained that you lost my stuff and switched it with someone else's, especially something I as a marathon runner use every day and was expensive. Shitty customer service. Oh, when I looked through the lost and found he yelled at me telling me I wasn't going to find it there. Oh really? Well, I didn't think I would find some gross ass woman's pants that touched her nether regions touching my underwear either, but I found that. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Only go if you ONLY wash on cold!! I used this laundromat for many years because it was so close to my apt, and looks cleaner and newer than others in the area-- despite how unpleasant ANY interaction with the Asian-lady owner has always been (and neighbors attested to the same). But when I finally realized that even when I choose hot or warm water settings on the washers, it always washes in ice cold, I stopped going. Most people don't realize, because you have to wait through the initial rush of cold water in for the "soak", and then check the temp of the water coming in for the "wash" cycle. So I let the owner and/or the assistant guy know. And they don't give a crap. When I first started noticing, they would pour a bucket of hot water from the sink into the washer. (Why there is hot water in the sink, and not the washers, I have no idea.) They claimed the problem would be fixed. When I came back, they claimed it was fixed, and occasionally there would be warmish water. But if there wasn't, they wouldn't do anything about it, or act like it mattered. Once the woman tried to CONVINCE me that the not-too-icy water coming in was "warm", and another time, when I insisted on them doing SOMETHING, they shut down my washers, we waited 20 min (for the boiler to heat up?) then started them again, for the barely warmish water. I'm sure it's MUCH cheaper for them to not fire up the boiler, just as it's cheaper for them to use the "quick wash" on all the clothes they take in, and use (as someone else mentioned) really cheap detergent. But to do your washing there isn't cheap! And I feel that when I want hot water to wash my towels, if they can't provide that, they should be up front about it. Or maybe at least apologetic! I REALLY WISH more people would call them on this so they would be forced to change it. It makes me so mad because I feel like it's a scam. And they get away with it because no one checks. So yeah, I don't use that laundromat anymore. And my towels don't get that moldy smell in the summer anymore either. read more

If you want to wash your clothes in HOT water, don't go here - the "hot" setting on the machines will give you ice cold to tepid water. The dryers, on the other hand, will fry your clothes to death even on the "permanent press" setting. And you get to pay more than other neighborhood laundromats for the privilege. Used them every week for four years while living in Brooklyn. They pick up, deliver and were consistent.

Worst laundromat I've ever been to. WARNING: they only use cold water, not hot or warm. Clothes never get cleaned and they are the rudest and most expensive in the neighborhood. read more
