DO NOT USE!!! If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Dropped off clothes to just wash, not even dry. At pick up, the clothes were falling apart at the seams. I asked if something got caught on it and they immediately yelled at me saying it came that way (which I know wasn't like that at drop off). They said I'm not allowed to complain?? TLDR: Amazing mom & pop shop that did same day delivery flawlessly. They came in clutch with a last-minute same day service. I called in at 11 am. to ask if I could get a shirt and a dress cleaned and pick it up today. The woman on the phone told me yes but hurry hurry! I got there as fast as I could, and they took care of it flawlessly. The couple who run the place are amazing. The wife was very professional and in her zone. I've read some of the reviews and honestly can't figure out why they are so low. I have been using this dry cleaners for almost 5yrs now and love it!! Pros: Trustworthy. I have accidentally left cash in my voting when it's being sent to get washed or dry cleaned and they always return it. They go above and beyond! They don't charge for laundry pick-up or drop-off and if I forget to call to get it dropped off they always call me to see if I'm home or drop it off early the next morning to not inconvenience my schedule. They have often dropped it off after they close and are hang home home the day! Alterations are perfect! I've never had a problem with their work. They always make my clothing look like a custom fit Fluff and fold same-day service. In before 10 and back by 7pm! Did I mention the free pick-up and drop-off!? Cons: only 1 and it rarely happens... The laundry service they use has ruined pillow cases twice in 5yrs. Not a bad record honestly and not the dry cleaners fault as that gets outsourced. Give them a try.. You won't regret it. read more

We live a few blocks away and for years used a number of cleaners in the neighborhood before switching to these guys, and we're very happy. Everything is fairly priced, done on time, and comes out looking beautiful. Note: we haven't tried them for regular laundry service; instead we only come here for dry cleaning and laundering specialty items, and for a few minor alterations and repairs here and there. read more

Ruined an expensive leather jacket and took no responsibility! This is not a one time incident either, read the other reviews, sadly I did not before I took my leather jacket. When I went to pick up my jacket a portion of it looked like it had been burned or something (the leather was scaly, cracked and wrinkled up). They said they will send it to their "leather specialist" and when it came back it looked somewhat better but the leather was still rough and scaly compared to other portions that were not damaged and still smooth. They took no responsibility for ruining the leather and instead blamed the material, saying they just clean it and are not responsible for the material, which doesn't even make sense, the dry cleaner should know how to clean the material without ruining it or tell the customer ahead of time they are not able to clean it. When I pointed this out the guy then changed his story and said he clearly remembers it was that way when I brought it in. Then suggested maybe if I wear it for a year it will all look the same. At this point the guy was screaming at me saying it's the material, it's not their fault and I got a little afraid since no one else was in the shop and decided to cut my losses. On top of it he still had the nerve to charge me. Horrible people, no ethics, no accountability, they will make every excuse possible if they ruin your clothing and verbally assault you in the process. DO NOT GO HERE! Really unsettling experience! I walked into the store and right away they are rude! I read the review from the person below me and thought, maybe the women helping me was just having a bad day. Can't hold that against her, right?! I went in to have two pairs of jeans hemmed and thought, while I'm there I will drop off dry cleaning. I just moved to Park Slope and haven't found a dry cleaner that I love yet so why not give them a shot. While they did a standard job with the hemming, my dry-cleaning experience was AWFUL! Half of the items they didn't even clean. They just pressed them and put them on hangers. I had white sweaters that I had gotten dirty and they looked like they had been wiped on the floor and then put into a bag! I was shocked especially since their prices are SO EXPENSIVE! When I went to ask them to reclean or to get my money back (with proof - I brought the items with me) the owner scowled at me and said that I was wrong! The items were still in the dry cleaning bags they came in. How could I be wrong? I will NEVER go back there. I am a loyal consumer and when I find a place I like I stick with it and usually rave to people that they have to try it too. This place - never again! read more

Best part of this business? The owner. I have never met a happier man in my life and his enthusiasm for life is contagious and part of the reason I've considered but never actually switched from using them for wash and fold. However we did switch from their dry cleaning service. Pro's - Extremely convenient. They offer same day pick up and delivery. Just one phone call and the happiest man in the world is there to pick up your laundry. Affordable- They don't charge for pick up. They have a $20 minimum. Clothes always come back clean. Cons- Dry cleaning service is not thorough. I used to take our laundry here for dry cleaning, but it would come back still with rings around the collars of shirts. Unless the garment is in perfect condition they will not dry clean it : One time I dropped a pair of pants for dry cleaning and the front desk woman called and refused to wash them b.c the bottoms were frayed. Overall, ok place to send wash and fold and definitely one of the most convenient in the area. Unfortunately I don't recommend for Dry Cleaning. read more

This lady is the worse at customer service. The last batch of shirts I dropped off were washed and came back with a nasty odor. Now, in fairness to her I should I have returned every shirt from that batch. I informed them instead that the last batch gave off a weird smell after wearing it for a few hours. So I asked for a refund of $7.50. She refused. I reminded them I spend upwards of $1000 per year with them, but she still disagreed with me. Oh well. Time to move on. I dislike negative reviews--but in this instance, I feel bad service results in loss of good customers. I'm sure for dry cleaning she fine. Just be careful with her wash service. read more

One reason I want to post the review is to say I'm so happy switching over from Yes Cleaners (5th ave and President) to Carroll Cleaners. It's a couple blocks further from my place, but totally worth it. I went to a pretty a dress up New Years party and it got pretty crazy. There was 400 people there, a dj, and 5 hour open bar. Needless to say, after while people were bound to drop drinks on the floor. So much so, that the slipped and fell and got a terrible stain on my dress shirt. I never thought they would be able to get it out, but I had to try it and it looks brand new!! So happy to find a great dry cleaning service. They are also reasonably priced, and very quick. I can't believe places like Yes Cleaners stay in business. read more

I have been living in New York for 20 years and I might say I had never had such a bad customer service experience. If I could do NO stars or report a business for bullying customers somewhere, I would. There are some people that just shouldn't be facing customers and these people are them. If this was a fancy or exclusive place I understand, but it's a dirty and messy dry cleaner with bad reviews which should be far from having this kind of attitude. I came to drop off a large load of dry cleaning since the nice people at Brooklyn Valet couldn't take my same day cleaning today. I brought some items rush, some regular, including comforters and pillows. When I looked at my receipts, all the dresses and a robe (5 of them) of same material and all mid length were priced quite differently ranging from 15- 25 and being called gowns and such which was not the case. When I questioned the not very pleasant lady about these differences and as I was standing outside the establishment, the lady said she couldn't take my clothes and piled them up in the counter. I walked in to retrieve them and she starts yelling for the receipts, I told her to wait one second but she jumps at me like a crazy person, aggressively digs into my front pant pocket to grab the receipts I had just put away, while almost ripping my pants. I felt violated, this lady getting aggressively into my personal space and digging inside my pockets... In the meantime the man that seemed to be the husband also starts screaming at me. I did not understand what these people were doing and could not but scream back to them asking to not touch me, step away and leave me alone to stop this craziness. I went over to my usual cleaners one block down and got a bill that was 50 dollars cheaper. I can't believe business owners of an expensive dumpster can behave like this. I don't know about the cleaning part of the business, all my clothes are wash & dry. However, I needed a new cover for a body pillow and they made one for me. I brought them fabric and the old cover to copy and they did a great job. They put in a matching zipper, charged a reasonable amount and had it ready in 2 days. read more

AWFUL. I took these guys a stained pair of pants that my go-to dry cleaner had tried, unsuccessfully, to clean. I told Carroll Cleaners that I wasn't sure if a stain could be fixed since it'd already been laundered once, but to do what they could. The day of my scheduled pickup, I got a call explaining that they didn't think the stain could be removed so they weren't going to clean the pants. No problem. Except I just picked up the pants, and they're worse than when I dropped them off--the stained area looked like it'd been attacked with bleach (the pants are yellow) and the fabric was ripped! I complained, and the employee was beyond rude, saying that they called "the day I dropped them off" and asking "how could I have ripped the pants if I didn't clean them?" Almost as hard a question to answer as why would I have paid to clean ripped pants? Clearly, they tried to spot-treat the pants--aggressively, considering the fabric damage--realized they'd made a huge mess, and then covered their tracks by calling me to say the pants "couldn't be cleaned." They were rude, incompetent and completely unprofessional. I wouldn't trust these people to wash my dish rags. read more

The line is out the door because they are slow and do not attend to their customers. It's just a horrible place. DO NOT DROP OFF LAUNDRY! They lost almost 20 lbs of laundry and they are 'so, sorry'. Which is too bad, now I am taking them to court over it. Also, smell test your clothes, you'll question if they even used soap. Update, May 2017: Carroll Cleaners has increased their prices on wash & fold for the second time in 3 years. I can't say how prices increased before 2011, but they went up in 2014 and have just gone up again, each time by about 25% (so the real increase is over 50%. Cost is now $1.25 per pound (with a minimum of 8 pounds). 16 pounds will cost $20. For that money, you could buy a good washer and dryer combo in about 18 months. How is wash & fold done? It's sent to one of the laundromats you would use yourself. So you are paying the laundromat cost plus labor. By my estimate, the laundromat would cost me $8 as opposed to the $20 for the cleaner. It's back to the laundromat for me. Review as of 11/2014: I've gone to this cleaner for 3 years, and until recently they were fine. Fast, polite. Perhaps they have now added staff or something else has changed. Prices have gone up -- by about 25% -- and service has tanked. The staff _on-site_ is extremely friendly and helpful -- not complaints there, but if you are having laundry washed and folded, good luck. The cost is still only moderately higher for straightforward washing than at a coin laundromat, but _expect_ to lose laundry. Most recent washes I have taken there (that was not something big like sheets) has seen shirts, socks, underwear go missing. Most. Several shirts have come back with holes in them. Sheets have also come back with holes. Several items -- including sheets and shirts -- have come back with stains they _didn't_ have beforehand. Some of these stains have proved to be permanent. On one occasion, they had not washed my stuff _at all_. Not at all. Zip. I supply hypoallergenic detergent of my own. OFTEN they have lost _full_ bottles of detergent. At $17 per bottle, that's not cheap. Again, this is a problem with the staff at whatever place the wash-and-fold work is sent. All of the above in the past 5 or 6 months (as of 11/2014). read more

Carroll Cleaners provides a good service. They do a great job on my laundered dress shirts, and have removed oil stains from food more than once. The dry cleaning is very good to wonderful. They are fully organic & that's important... The comments people have made about the woman owner, well,, remember: no one is perfect. She has generally accommodated me nicely.. The first time I went there was just a scouting mission, to ask if they were organic, fully organic, and what process they used. She answered all my questions and really tried to be as pleasant as possible. A blind person could have known that she was very tired and works really hard. The woman works from AM till 7 PM 5 days a week, and then from 8 to 6 on Saturday. She's always there. She might not be jumping for joy all the time, but, as stated, I find her to be generally accommodating. One time I had reason to ask for the clothes to be redone cause somehow they had picked up a perfume smell, and they did it. No argument. I like their work, and though the lady may not be as friendly as a Walmart greeter, she and her husband get the job done. And WILL ACCOMMODATE customers. read more

Do not go here. Despite the convenient location, this dry cleaner will no longer get my business. The past two times I brought in a few shirts to wash and press, at least one of them has come back ruined by little splotchy grease (or something) stains. The first time this happened, I pointed out the problem and they tried to remove the stains, to no avail. As compensation for ruining my shirt, I was offered no refund on the money I had already spent for them to ruin the shirt, but instead received a $15 credit (uh, thanks) towards a future shirt ruining. That came today. Again, the same little splotchy grease stains. This time, when I showed them what had happened to my (favorite) shirt, they again offered to try again, after first blaming me for making the stain in the first place (even though I tend not to make a habit of slinging bacon grease at the bottom of the back of my button-downs). When I said I didn't want them to try again and would simply like to be refunded for the "cleaning" charge (knowing full well that arguing would be useless and that I was better off taking my laundry elsewhere from now on - a decision I kept to myself), the two proprietors began yelling at me - telling me that I made the stain, that they have hundreds of customers a day (this I know, since, until right now, I was one of them who has spent literally thousands of dollars at this place over the past few years), and that they do not give refunds under any circumstances. Dear Yelp, I used these guys for months after I moved to the Slope. I thought they were fine. They were close by. They were friendly. They delivered. They weren't great at pressing shirts, but big deal. But then, one day, they got rust spots on two of my shirts. A brand-new custom shirt (unworn) and a $275 Zegna that was still in excellent condition. The new shirt just got a little rust spot on the cuff that it took me a few minutes to see after I put it on. Nothing to get excited about. But the Zegna got a two-inch long blob right next to where my belly button would be. I took the shirts back to Carroll. The Zegna shirt was unworn since the 'cleaning' and still had their cleaning tag on it. I said, 'hey, you got this on my shirt.' They said no we didn't. Then they cleaned it for free. It didn't come out. I came back to pick it up. They tisk-tsked the gigantic rusty stain on my shirt. I said 'it got this stain in your shop.' They said, 'no it didn't.' Well, yes it did. We all screw up, but some people will take responsibility and try to work something out. Carroll Cleaners won't. I've noticed that all the lousy reviews for Carroll Cleaners are for their laundry service. Well, I've been using Carroll Cleaners for years, and since I prefer to do my own laundry using my apartment building's machines, I use CC just for dry cleaning -- and never had a single problem with their work -- and to get things altered or repaired. I can't tell you how many pairs of slacks I've had hemmed, and waists shortened (I'm under 5', and even petite-sized clothing is too long for me) and the results are quick and uniformly excellent Pricey? Somewhat. But while I can wash, dry and fold my own clothing, I can't sew, and CC is a lifesaver for me. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. You have better option up the block. They've ruined my favorite suit and one of my wife's dresses. In both occasion, they claimed the fault was ours. My Wife's white dress clearly shows chemical burns and water stains. They not only blamed my wife for the stains (even though a thorough inspection of all items was done when I dropped them off) but called her a liar and yelled at her! I understand accidents happen. This is my first review on Yelp and sadly it is a negative one. Over the last six months I took my garments on a weekly basis for dry cleaning to this business. I found the service to be efficient and the longer hours and ability to use my credit card convenient. However, as other reviews have pointed out, the female owner became extremely rude as soon as something went wrong. Someone else's garments were hung together with mine during pick up and I accidentally took the whole bundle with me. Upon returning the items that did not belong to me, I asked if there were some of my items that had accidentally not been returned to me. The female owner immediately took an aggressive tone and repeatedly told me she didn't make any mistakes and accused me of taking the other person's clothes on purpose. I am unsure what she was trying to achieve with her response (particularly because I had already returned the clothes that did not belong to me), but I will no longer be returning to this business. read more

I have being doing my laundry and dry cleaning at this place for over 5 years now. Just up until the time they started stealing from me slowly. One time I noticed how they charged $50 for a regular cleaning for a blanket then just recently they charged me $40 for 4 Shirts on dry cleaning. They put in the receipt Blouse instead of Shirts when I call them to see if it was a mistake on their own they yelled at me that that is their prices meanwhile I saw they charge for my husbands shirts $3/shirt why would you charge $40 for 3 shirts of my own? they said is their price and hanged up on me. Stay away there are tons of great other dry cleaners and cleaners in the area that arent thief. Someone needs to teach them some manners and customer service please read more

AWFUL! I have used Carroll Cleaners for about a year. I was never too happy, and would politely tell them to please clean rust stains from their ironing process (a common occurrence). They never did anything and when I brought several shirts at once and again asked then to address the stains, they got very defensive and rude. There are many cleaners in Park Slope. STAY AWAY! This place just lost over a $500 dollars worth of my clothes, and the only thing that they could say was "sorry." I still have my ticket, and they claimed that someone came in and took the clothes. They also offered a pretty insulting excuse that they pay too much in rent and "don't keep records." Caveat Emptor: Buyer Beware! I have used Carroll Cleaners for any years with various problems but this has to be reported. I stopped by to ask the Asian female owner would she reinforced the buttons on my vintage coat. She explained she too busy come back later but she marveled at the buttons stating " I've never seen buttons like that -- they don't make them anymore. I returned two days later. They laundered my husbands suits, blazers and my formal dresses instead of dry cleaning them - ruined $4000 dollars of clothing. They didn't apologize or offer any compensation at all. Prompt service and the pickup/drop off options are really convenient. They do accept credit cards, unlike nearby United Laundry. However, I would strongly recommend against using their wash and fold service for your normal clothes - unless you enjoy re-ironing everything afterward. They smush everything into bags and nothing comes out actually wearable. Use them if you have sheets or towels to wash, or need dry cleaning - but leave the everyday stuff for the laundromat yourself. (Or, go someplace with a lower minimum price for service wash - their prices are pretty high compared to other places.) read more

I have noticed that a lot of the bad reviews for CC were for laundry service. However, I have used CC for tailoring clothes for YEARS and they have been amazing. I have a hard time finding jeans and I always have to have them taken in. Each time my clothes have been tailored perfectly, and returned to me on time. The price is a little on the high side but it is worth it. I have not used there laundry service at all. They have been a life saver for me in regards to tailoring clothes. read more
