We finally found the BEST restaurant in Punta Mita. Not Hectors not anything super fancy on the main strip. If you are looking for an authentic gem, a special place with amazing fresh food this is IT! Not ocean front, but worth it 100%. Authentic decor, nice relaxing music, a variety of art and plants. I went to Casa del Pintor a few times for breakfast and once for dinner. Their veggie omelette was amazing. As a vegetarian, I didn't find a lot on their dinner menu but their pizza was amazing. The crust is something I've never seen and will think of fondly. :) The staff was friendly and they don't rush you out of the restaurant which is great cuz the environment is lovely, as is the cafe cat. I do wish the music wasn't US classic rock as it changed the vibe of the beautiful artistry inside. Would highly recommend. read more

Drinks were very good. - Cafe Americano, Bloody Mary, Bocanegra cerveza, fruit juicy drinks all well made. Pizza for the kids... good. The dinner plates came over 90 minutes later. There were okay to not good. Chicken to dry to eat, fed it to our nice doggy friends who joined us. Fish and fajitas were okay, but we were tired of waiting, and the kids were wanting to go home wondering why we just started eating. Last plate served was ceviche!? (No cooking required). Seemed like the regular (white U.S. expat) crowd is preferred, they allll wandered in and got served before our Spanish speaking Mexican-American family. -With a 6:00pm (opening time) reservation. Lame. Me encantó leer todas las reseñas de 5 estrellas. Ojalá tuviera 5 para dar. Aquí va: Hice una reservación para nuestra familia a las 6 pm. We tried the pizza here (to go) and it was great but the breakfast was delicious. The pollo chilaquiles was amazing!!! So flavorful. The service is a little slow, but the ambiance is entertaining. I bet it's cute at night with all the streaming lights. read more

There's a new chef and the food is AMAZING. I recommend the specials; I had the almond crusted mahi mahi with a carrot sauce that was out of this world. The shrimp pizza was the best I have found anywhere and the steak fajitas and BBQ ribs (Friday nights) shouldn't be missed. Great food, solid friendly service, slightly scary area. Coming from the opulence that is the St. Regis, the restaurant was in a locale best described as a bit of a shock. This restaurant is solely for the adventurous, but your intrepidness will be rewarded. To get here, one must pass through a very run-down part of Punta Mita; get past that, and you're golden. Upon arrival, the owner happily greeted us with a smile and allowed us to pick whatever seat we wanted. We sat under the beautiful thatched roof, next to a giant pile of tiles being used to create a mural outside. Lamps and small fans randomly dotted the decor as well. The extremely simple and affordable menu was in both English and Spanish. My wife and I both had fajitas; I had steak, she had chicken. The steak fajitas are not your typical Americano version, inasmuch as they don't come with tortillas, salsa, guac, cheese, or sour cream. But you're not going to miss an ounce of any of it; holy cow that steak was delicious, grilled to perfection and seasoned with, phonetically, acevida? Served with mixed veggies and a side of rice. Delicious. Two cats, Perla and Midnight, regularly visited the table and asked for scraps. Everyone seemed ok with this. Fortunately we have a cat at home, but I can see that freaking some people out a little. Our rides to and from the hotel were as expensive as the meal. Worth it for the adventure. read more

We only went to this place because it happened to be right around the corner from our AirBnB. We had no idea we were stumbling upon such a gem. The owners are so genuine, warm and welcoming. We chatted with them and some of the staff there about everything, about art, about their cats (which don't be surprised if one of them comes to dine with you!), everything. They make you feel like not just a customer, but a friend. Totally made our vacation. The food is amazing too! Such delicious seafood. Try the pizza also, the crust is thin and they have some interesting toppings. Banana Daquiris are amazing! Seriously, get one! I miss them already. We literally came to eat here 5 times in 4 days. Service was slow (seated and grabbed menus ourselves) but friendly. Look, my brown family is far from snobby but yo, no ceviche? You forgot the guac n chips? The rice had possibly frozen peas and carrots? The pineapple juice was from a can? Oh and my pop's margarita was less than subpar? No, no, no. This place happens to be right across from the condo we rented and we couldn't have been more happy! Breakfast and dinner were both delicious not matter what we ordered. They have a house salsa (white in color) that we really enjoyed! Fresh shrimp/fish options on the menu, but they had a little of everything (hamburgers etc) they serve breakfast in the mornings, but are closed mid day (3-6pm-ish) service typically took some time, but the drinks were strong and the food was good so worth just hanging out. Prices were fair, if not a deal for what you got. Service was friendly, family run! Definitely recommend for anyone! read more

Had Christmas Eve dinner here and let me just tell you best Chicken Florentine I have ever had. Everything was amazing. Ropi and his staff made sure everything is perfect for everyone and even accommodated a vegetarian in our group even though they had a fixed menu for the night. Had pizza another night. Not the best PM has to offer. However, I do not consider this as a "scary" or "run down" part of town as some other reviewers alluded to. It is Mexico folks! The patio dining is nice and I have eaten here a few times. The food is ok. There are certainly better options in the area. Great food that's off the main hotel area of el Anclote. Worth the 5 minute walk. Even though not ocean front, patio dining is covered with palapa thatch roof and lots of fans. Well this place was in front of condo so we had dinner there once but ordered take out twice. Forget all you know about having pets in the kitchen, and just roll with it . The food was great, just strange seeing a dog or cat at the chefs feet. We laughed pretty hard on that one. The only negative minus star is for the fact that I think I was bit by fleas. Had bites on feet each day after visiting . The only bites on feet were right after , so guessing he needs to give nexgard or frontline to pets. Ropi the owner is super friendly guy. read more

Ropi, the owner, is a true artist. He has created a gorgeous little open air restaurant surrounded by walls on which has painted murals. Ropis is always in the process of beautifying the restaurant and greets all his guests personally. This makes up for the somewhat uneven food service. He has recently hired new wait staff who speak English and the menu is, of course, bilingual. For good home cooking at reasonable prices and for a down-home atmosphere where the cats make eyes at you while you eat and the crowd is a mix of tourist and local, you cannot beat this spot. I have never tried his pizzas or burgers but am told by reliable companions that the burger at least is fat, juicy and cooked to perfection. Been going for breakfast and it's been good. We, my 15yr daughter and I went. It was great. It was a dinning experience. They had a guy dressed as a charro or mariachi suit singing classic Mexican songs. Lots of families there too. The food was delicious. You can choose from fish to low budget Pizza. The ambience is well done with an intriguing decorated place. Plants everywhere and a modern touch. The place is a bit hidden, but worth the search. Stumbled upon this place and what a good find it was! The service was great and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the Mahi Mahi special and the pizza. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire dining experience, along with our additional dinner guest, el gato, who lounged next to me almost the entire time. This has the BEST french toast we have ever had in our lives and we travel all over the world!!! It is covered with sugar and cinnamon and it has a crunch to it that is not to be believed. We stayed at the Four Seasons and would come here three times while we were in the hotel. It is hands down relish and the staff are very sweet. They also make fresh squeezed orange juice that is divine. The owner's name is Ropi and he is great and has been there for over thirty years. It is a five minute drive from the hotel and we take a cab and then tell the cab to come back 45 minutes later to pick us up. It is easy and delicious!!! read more
