Super kind person who makes delicious cakes!! I got to try two of her creations and both were amazing!!! She is extremely talented not only in baking but decorating as well. The colors on her cake were so complimentary. And the banana pudding was so elegant decorated.

The cakes at Sugar Bean Cake are works of art. Vy puts so much care into the details that I don't want to ruin it by cutting into it. But... I have to because it's so darn good! Her cakes have the perfect sweetness. You just don't get sick of eating it. My wedding guest still bring up how good the cake was from my 2019 wedding. Vy also made us an anniversary cake to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. She did not disappoint. It brought back so many good memories of the wedding. When Vy launched her cookies, I wa so excited. I ordered several dozens for myself here in MA and sent several to friends as gifts around the country. my favorite is the pandan with mung bean filling. All her cookies are huge! You definitely have to have some self control to not each the whole box within days. You won't be disappointed with anything Vy makes. The details of all the hand dipped pearls and how beautifully she placed them on the cake says everything about Vy's attention to details .

These aren't your average cookies--they're stuffed, chewy in the middle, crunchy on the outside, and seriously next level. I first discovered Sugar Bean Cake Shop at a pop-up at The Kitchen Table in Sacramento and was instantly hooked. I recently got to try a curated 3-cookie box and every flavor was incredible: - Pandan Coconut Mung Bean: fragrant, nutty, and so unique - Mango Tajin: sweet, tangy, and surprisingly addictive - Ube Crinkle: soft, sweet, melt-in-your-mouth perfection--my personal fave! Sugar Bean is Asian & woman-owned, ships nationwide (via FedEx 2-day!), and pops up all over Sacramento and the Bay Area. You can also regularly find her cookies at Chloe Coffee in Midtown Sac--the white chocolate chip sprinkle cookie there is a must-try and sells out fast! If you're into bold, nostalgic, Asian-inspired flavors, this is the bakery to watch. I'm already looking forward to the next popup.

It was fun trying somewhere new as we usually go to our favorites. For the past several years we've been going to Scott's for celebrations, but that has gotten old so thankfully we found somewhere new and loved it. I highly reccomend this restaurant. The ambiance is spectacular. If you can get one of the side tables under the overhang with the wine bottle chandelier you'll love it. Here's what we ordered: Borscht with Beef: Traditional red soup made with beets, beef, garden vegetables topped with sour cream- To me it didn't look appetizing, but it's a traditional dish so we split a cup. We didn't have much hope that would be edible. We were blown away trying it. It was actually good. We were shocked. It was so good. It was filled with pieces of tomatoes and beets and huge tender chucks of beef. Spinach Blini-Gluten free, vegetarian, 6 blintzes filled with spinach and creamy white sauce. We really enjoyed these Spinach Blini. They were very rich. I could only eat two to them and took the third one with me to share with my husband. He really liked it and wish there was more. I really wanted to get the Cherry Blini, but we were too full even though we shared an entree. I'm so disappointed as they looked so good. We needed a couple more people at our table so we could have tried more dishes and eaten everything family style. Beef Stew-Tender chunks of beef meat, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and this good things stewed in perfectly hearty cheese gravy baked in clay pot and served with tortilla on top. We split this dish and it was the perfect amount for us. It was really good. The chunks of potatoes and meat were huge, the mushrooms were firm, and the flavor was really tasty.

I drove 30 minutes to get there and a lovely young Ukrainian woman served me with a smile and elegance and I really enjoyed the Borscht and I normally can't stand the taste of beets so I will definitely be back. I then ordered several of their other plates and also enjoyed them so I took them home and ate like a Ukrainian for a few days. :-)

This takes me to the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento where I had the opportunity in trying out "Sham Sweets". Established in 2019, this hole-in-the-wall Middle Eastern dessert shop is located directly on Fulton Ave and adjacent to Hurley Way. The parking lot is quite spacious as this small business shares itself with many other unique places. Business hours here are also very generous as they are open 7 days a week from 11:00am-8:30pm. I came here on the afternoon of Saturday 2/21/2026 at around 2:00pm. Upon entry, I was pleasantly surprised with how spacious, clean, and inviting this place was. And my oh my, they had a TON of desserts displayed everywhere! Everything from Turkish delights, baklava, künefe, Turkish cookies, and their version of a Middle Eastern ice cream, "Booza". Since it was the most requested item, I took a chance and ordered this. it is quite difficult to explain this food item but it has the chill factor of sweet cream but more of a dense, elastic-stretchy texture. It also had pasty pistachio chunks as a crumb topping. And since I wanted some desserts to go, I also ordered a total of 4 of their "Pistachio Bites"; two traditional/old-fashioned and two modern. Total price for everything only came to $10. The young man who helped me was very friendly, accommodating, and was able to answer all my questions. Since I had already visited their website, https://ediblesacramento.com/editorial/sham-sweets/, I had more of a general idea of what to expect at their bakery. After exiting the building, I enjoyed the Booza outside my car. I have to say that this dessert was like something I never experienced. One thing I have to say is that it is quite dense and creamy, almost a taffy-like custard. And with the chunks of pistachio with other elements packed in, it was quite chewy as well. I loved it but the flavor might turn a few people away. Once I got home, I enjoyed a couple of the Pistachio Bites and those also hit the spot. I love pistachio in general so when you make it into a small savory sweet, the flavor elevates itself on so many levels. The prices here are unbeatable, the customer service here was stellar, they have very generous hours of operation, and the unique Middle Eastern desserts that I sampled definitely did not disappoint. I expect to make many future visits to "Sham Sweets" and this place was sweet! My rating, a unanimous five stars.
