    Tasting kit

My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from Sugar Cubed Cakes, and wow did it exceed our expectations. We first ordered their tasting kit, which comes with 4 cupcakes, to try different flavors and determine what we wanted, which was so fun and easy! We determined that we wanted to mix and match cake/filling/frosting flavors, and the team at Sugar Cubed Cakes made sure we got exactly what we wanted. And the final product was absolute PERFECTION! Flavorful, moist, perfectly balanced, and just beautiful to look at. All our guests loved the cake, and each day after our wedding we looked forward to splitting one of the leftover pieces. We definitely recommend and will go back to Sugar Cubed for any cake needs. (For any fellow fruit lovers, the lemon zested cake with marionberry filling and marionberry buttercream will be the cake of your dreams.)

We've been loyal customers of Sugar Cubed Cakes for 11 years, and they continue to impress us every time. Very inviting atmosphere inside. We just wrapped up our daughter's 7th birthday, and the cake was absolutely perfect, both beautiful and tasted great. It was a hit with everyone that we've already placed another order for our older daughter's 11th birthday coming up later this month. They always understand our vision and bring it to life with stunning detail and incredible flavor. Every bite reflects the high-quality ingredients they use, and their treats are always the talk of the party. On top of that, their customer service is consistently warm, helpful, and reliable, from ordering to pick-up. Whether it's cakes, cupcakes, or cookies, we're so thankful to have such a talented and dependable bakery in our community!

I always stop by this dessert place when I am out in Gresham. I really enjoy their cupcakes! They have a regular flavor menu and a monthly flavor menu. I had to get the Grasshopper - chocolate & mint - for this month. I loved the mint cake with the chocolate ganache in the middle. They make cakes, cookies and assorted bars as well. I also enjoy their sugar cookies; really soft and the frosting isn't too sweet. If you need a beverage, they serve coffee, tea and Italian sodas. The employees are always friendly. It is a cute shop with yummy treats!

Sometimes you need a little tasty, sweet, crispy treat. Looking at their bakery case it was hard to make a decision. Cupcakes, bars, cookies and more. I knew I was leaving with just one treat so I had to choose carefully. It was between a monster cookie and the perfect chocolate chip cookie. I chose the monster. With the subtle flavors of peanut butter and then m & ms on top, it was a great choice! ( let's beg for the recipe ) The employee barista was super helpful with my iced mocha. I like a combination of dark chocolate and white chocolate, really good! Come on over to downtown Gresham to Sugar Cubed. I know you'll find some great treats or a fancy cake for you, your family or that special occasion that's coming up.

Amazing RICH cupcakes! Since finding out gluten and I don't get along, I have been trying any baked goods I can find. I found out Sugar Cubed has gluten free options on Wednesday and Saturday. I happily went in Wednesday. The gluten free option was Caramel, one of my favorites so I got two big cupcakes. They were a yellow cake, with caramel filling, vanilla frosting, and a caramel drizzle. Also, got chocolate for my gluten loving partner. I will note these are NOT for the faint of heart and highly suggest only having half at a time. These are super sweet and can be a lot and my partner agrees. For anyone who eats Gluten-free, the cake was very close in texture and in taste to a sweet corn bread. The cake is not very sweet and is a perfect complement to the salted caramel. I'm so happy to have a place not too far that offers Gluten-free options and great prices. I can't wait to try the other flavors.

Another home run for Sugar Cubed Cakes! We wanted a fun cake to help tell our extended family we were pregnant in March 2023. and as Sugar Cubed made our wedding cake (see previous review by me) we thought there was no more perfect a place to go to than Sugar Cubed. And they nailed it! I went in with some inspirational photos and the owner and I wandered through them. She was super excited to try out the geo bear as it wasn't something she'd done before. The delicious grasshopper filling and adorable design pleased everyone including us! Thanks for continuing to help us with some of the biggest moments in our life thus far and making them delectable!

I have been to this bakery many times and have had mixed opinions on their cupcakes. In the past I have been in on various occasions to get a cupcake or another treat they offer (I've had the blondie bars and a comfort cup). Their cupcakes are dry and have a lot of frosting. I can get behind a lot cream cheese frosting, but a lot of their cakes come with buttercream. To me buttercream is not good when done well and is even worse when when it's not done well. Sugarcubed's buttercream has a slightly grainy texture, which I do not enjoy. Despite these issues, I thought they may perform better with custom cakes and unfortunately I was wrong. No only did the cake come out differently than I had asked for, the customer service experience I received seemed inappropriate to my situation. I do not think they were rude, they have never been rude, but their ordering process for custom cakes is not customer friendly. My custom cake was a wedding cake. I chose this bakery because it does have high ratings despite my own experiences and I reviewed images of the wedding cakes they have done and they were nice. We also had a very fast turn around time from my order to the wedding so they seemed like a good fit. So I started the process. I tried calling but you can only do custom cake orders on their website. We started with ordering a tasting kit. We only ordered white cupcakes, so when we stopped by to pick those up we got a chocolate and red velvet cupcake so we had more variety to try. In the past we have tried the chocolate and red velvet and they seemed dry. This time they were also dry. Surprisingly, the white cakes were moist. I do not know if this is because of when they were baked or if white cake is usually more moist than chocolate cake, but we decided on a white cake with marionberry and substituted the buttercream for cream cheese. When I called to ask if they could substitute the frosting base, I was told that we could. I moved forward with the process and filled out the online custom cake order. At this point I was still thinking I would get a consultation either on the phone or in person to discuss the details, but everything was communicated via email. This made it hard because they have limited business hours via email (less hours than the bakery is open), which meant we were communicating over weeks what could've been communicated in one conversation; if anything else came up then phone/email would seem appropriate. We had several emails discussing the theme and what I wanted the cake to look like, flavor, etc. I even drew up exactly what I wanted so that there would be no misunderstanding. I wanted a grey naked cake (I would have went with black but I didn't want it to taste like food coloring and I didn't want it to be a fondant cake either) which turned out blueish or greenish depending how the light hit it. The tombstone I wanted was a 2D slab of fondant made to look 3D. I drew it 3D because that's how I wanted it and there was no communication from them to clarify. I did not draw a cake border in my picture, but I told them I wanted one. They did not ask what kind of piping I wanted, they just did what they wanted. I opted for fake flowers that my grandma used to decorate the cake after we picked it up because I did not want to eat buttercream or fondant flowers. Despite it being a naked cake there was still a lot of buttercream on the outside of the cake (they did this because they can't do a naked cake in cream cheese frosting because it is too soft and I agreed to it), so buttercream flowers would have been way too much for me. I felt their process for custom cake orders does not match the involvement that a custom cake needs between the client and the baker. In addition to this, there were a lot of rules surrounding purchasing the cake and securing your day and time. If the order is not $500 they will not deliver and you have to pay in full in order to secure your day/time. I thought this was odd because a lot of custom work involves a security deposit and paying in full at a later date, usually the date of service. They were willing to work with me on this when I asked, but I ended up paying the fee in full in the end. My cake was a two tier wedding cake with "simple design" and cost $360. I wanted to like this bakery because it's so close to my house but it just wasn't meant to be.

This bakery decorates the cutest cakes! I have gotten 2 cakes from here now and both have been super adorable and just what I am looking for visually. I will say however both of them were extremely sweet and the cake itself is a bit dry and very dense. I continue to come back here because I appreciate their style and the cakes are very aesthetically pleasing but as for flavor they are not the best at. The shop itself is very cute and the employees are always extremely nice and very helpful!

Got two of each little ones to try ~ including one brownie one frosted lemon cookie & one berry oat bar about $35 plus tip $40 & change Dry as all hell Crazy u would think all the frosting on top of these would mask the dry cake part. But nope I'm a cupcake Also they should state somewhere that only the BiG cupcakes have the filling in the middle ~ not these little ones. Would've just got a big one of each to cut & share if I knew Berry bar is SO hard & ima assuming just old. Super ick Maybe I just got a bad batch~ or someone new is 'filling' in for a friend (lol) Anyways I will try again maybe sometime before the year is over ~ give the big ones a try & double check with workers how fresh their bars are. Should not sell them to anyone after certain time period ~ at least not full price ? Idk I wouldn't have gotten it either way. Side note I did like the banana, lemon, & berry cobbler mini cakes lemon cookie was good not old or dry as all hell So yes these are the only reason I will give one more try Sso so Better luck next time for me hopefully Edited because my emojis won't post

We love this place! We go here to pickup desserts for special events and for our sugar rush. Located in Downtown Gresham on Main Street, Sugar Cubed is on the corner unit, just across Jazzy Bagels. Sugar Cubed has occasional specials on their Facebook page. They have a long list of flavors that you can pre-order from or pickup in-store monthly flavors. We love the Salted Caramel- as a Mini cupcake, Big cupcake, and a cake. Salted Caramel as a cake was rich so you only need a thin slice. The Salted Caramel mini cupcake is the perfect bite! You can call in orders and pay over the phone, when you order at least a day in advance. The staff has always been friendly. My email inquiries were answered within a couple hours during business hours. In addition to cupcakes and cakes, Sugar Cubed offers macaroons, cookies, and drinks. Only positive experiences and happy tummies! Highly recommend Sugar Cubed for any occasion or sweet tooth!

Your place came up when I searched gluten free. Are you gluten free?

We have gluten free cupcakes on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s and available for special order any other day. We are not a solely gluten free bakery though.

Are there any vegan options here?

We have a delicious raspberry coconut oat bar that is vegan! But unfortunately non of our cakes/cupcakes are vegan.

You order at the counter and get a pager that beeps when your order is ready for pickup back at the counter. I ordered their featured drink, which was an iced tiramisu latte. It was yummy, as was my ham, egg, and cheese breakfast croissant sandwich. The elevated plating for the croissant sandwich was a nice touch. Instead of blobbing mustard on the plate or offering packets, they gave my plate a pretty swoosh of mustard with a sprinkling of chopped chives. I didn't expect this, but I appreciate that they went the extra step, as we eat first with our eyes! This is definitely a great stop coming to or from The Gorge and we look forward to visiting again in the future.

We brought our water bottles, so we didn't have to buy any drinks, but the drinks look really good! They have a thorough beer, cider, wine, menu, and really cute frozen margs. Anyway, I was really happy with everything I ordered the sundae was so good! You can tell that they put a lot of care into the ingredients they make, like the macadamia-oat brittle was full of ingredients and brought a fun texture and a lot of flavors to the sundae. The chocolate magic shell had kind of coffee in it, which was a fun, tiny crunch and another good flavor. The Thai tea whip was the " cherry on top." I highly recommend adding the miso caramel sauce and Matcha magic shell! So yummy! Just as I said with the sundae, the sandwich and tomato also seemed to have quality ingredients. The tomato soup was delicious, but the flavor was gorgeous with the roasted tomatoes and chive oil, though a bit rich. I definitely finished it, but I do think that having some of my sister's grilled cheese to dip into it was more appropriate than eating it on its own. The sandwich I got had the softest milk bread and was just a classic deli sandwich, but you can tell that again, they used quality ingredients. I felt like I got my money's worth for everything I paid for. The parking situation was great, we parked in the overflow lot across from the establishment. There was a five dollar charge, and if you show your receipt when returning to your vehicle, they gave you a refund. Waiting in line wasn't terrible, we waited maybe 15 minutes? The only thing is that they have a ramp leading to the patio and a long line is inevitable, and the ramp is narrow, so if somebody wants to pass through with a stroller or a wheelchair, everybody on the ramp has to move off to let them through. When we got up to the front to order, something happened with their system, and they had to pause orders for a couple minutes, which didn't bother me, but I could see how maybe that might bother someone else. Either way, they were very nice throughout the wait. There are a lot of people there seemingly throughout the day, and we had a group of five adults and four kids, but we were able to find a picnic table with enough room easily. The picnic tables are also nicely set up with good canopies and the table itself felt pretty clean Lots of Instagrammable foods and photos op spaces.

The situation is like this, they really don't have their own parking at all. You have to pay for parking at the nearby park which is also where the bathrooms are. However, you can skip all this by going through the drive through, but it is a bit chaotic as you try to follow all the signs on how to get into the drive through, but be extra careful as kids and adults are paying attention and walk into the drive thru lane without looking. Since there is a wait for the drive through, they are smart to have QR codes to look at the menu while you are in line. They do have done picnic table setups for sitting down but also some tables inside Sugarpine. I think we waited about 10 min on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't so bad of a wait. They do warn you that they serve a 20% service fee on top of your order. However, I don't understand why. I got no table service. Basically a guy took my order and handed me my ice cream cup. I usually give 20% for real table service. Not sure if this is one of those charges they use to give the employees certain benefits? It was unclear to me. I'll be honest, I was very disappointed in the soft serve offerings. It was chocolate or vanilla or a swirl but there was a plant based offered that is a little more which is a bit more interesting. We got one chocolate vanilla swirl and one blueberry ube kids cup (5 oz) The had coconut vanilla as well, but I did not try it. I paid my just over $10 charge which wasn't too bad, but since there is no place to eat these I drove into downtown Troutdale to Harlow Park where it is free to park and plenty of covered tables. While I enjoyed my soft serve, it wasn't really anything special to me that I couldn't find in other Portland locations. In fact, I've had better. I do appreciate the family run business and the local kids that work there, I think it is a great thing, but honestly toss lace seems best for a stop on the way back from a day at the Gorge, else I won't go out of my way for it. Nothing wrong with it as I said, it tasted fine, but it did t blow my mind either. I did not get to try their BBQ offerings so I can't speak for that but it did small good. I know that have $10 offerings for dessert that have toppings and such but for me the base or foundation of it all is more important to me.
