It's a long climb to get to the restaurant, but unfortunately we made it. Huge room, including the bar, and not very warm, maybe sitting by the window wasn't such a good idea. I ordered one of their burgers and paid an extra $3.00 for 5 onion rings. That's pretty expensive and they weren't that good. The burger looked beautiful on the plate, but one bite and the entire thing fell apart. I then asked for a fork and finished it sans the bun. Not the way to eat a burger. My girl friend's food was a gooey Mac and cheese with charezo cut up on top, felt like it was an afterthought, and maybe it shouldn't be mixed in. Any way, with tip and one glass of house wine the check was close to $60.00. Pretty steep for average food. We won't darken their doorway again. read more

I apologize: for this first impression. My wife and I scouted it out today as a neighborhood eatery. I am a disabled veteran confined to a power chair so access is critical. The front entrance had no ramp, just a series of multiple concrete stairs and no disabled parking on main. We drove around to the back. We found a large dirt uneven parking lot. I have an all terrain chair but don't like to take it inside buildings. I assume the back door was accessible but we couldn't tell because there was a large ladder in front of the door. We came home and started reading the reviews on this site and I was caught off guard by the mgr. responses to criticism. They were long, caustic and overly defensive. Stopped in to Spinella's after a hike at Mirror Lake around 2:00pm. On Saturday's, they open at 1:00 and I think we might've been the first folks there. The restaurant itself is in a converted church which makes it for a unique dining experience. On top of that, our wait staff was so incredibly helpful. I have Celiac and they discussed the menu and kitchen setup with me extensively and were incredibly knowledgeable. I did not have an adverse reaction to it, but it's good to keep in mind it is a shared kitchen but they do cook the GF pasta separately! Food was outstanding. I had the Diggin' It and my partner had the King Creole macaroni. To finish we ordered the lemon blueberry panna cotta. Definitely planning on visiting again, hopefully later in the day when they have live music! read more

Used to love this place, until they kept bringing me bad burger after burger on multiple occasions. One time being completely raw when I asked for well done. The last time I went, the owner was impressively rude to my mom and I, even went as far as to drop the plate on the table as though we are beneath him. Took them 55 min to bring our food WHEN WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE. I would have forgiven the waited time if the food was acceptable or service being kind. But since I got neither, they lost a customer that had come for years. I didn't deserve to be treated with attitude when simply being a customer. read more

Coming here was one of my favorite spots. Unfortunately, that has changed and not because of the food. My husband and I have came in here several times and of course we admire most of the paintings on the walls. So we decided to purchase 3 of them. 1 of them we were told by the owner that it was 1 out of 50 ever made and he had the paperwork to proof it. The painting was amazing (The Joker) and we paid just about $200 for it 14x24 size. We finished our dinner and before we left we asked for the "paperwork" he mentioned. He went back to his office to look for it and came back saying he wasn't able to find it but to come back. We came back a week later and we asked him about it again. Turns out he "misplaced it". This definitely pissed us off, we felt lied to and SCAMMED! I thought he would do the right thing and at least give us some sort of reimbursement. INSTEAD he only offered us a beer which he probably would not be loosing any profits. read more

This may be a great restaurant, but NOT for the disabled. My husband and I tried to go there for my birthday, but we were told they could (reluctantly) set up a table in a corner of the kitchen. Gresham may not have a lot of good restaurants, but Spinella's is definitely on the short list of guaranteed-good food destinations. Reading the menu itself is worth the trip, and the food is pretty much guaranteed, whether you're looking for seafood, pasta, or a fantastic burger. Drinks are on the menu, with creative offerings. The dessert was a joke and it was on me for paying $8 for 2 bites of dried out stale hard brownie and a tiny cheap cup of non-ice cream and and even smaller sauce cup of whipped cream. Ridiculous. You can do better, seriously, we spent almost $100 and got mediocre at best, food. The bartender was great. Very old church and located inside is a bar/restaurant more of a bar setting but great none the less. This place is popular. Friday night at 5:30 and tables were filled fast. It was really nice to see with all the pandemic problems lately this place was thriving! Sicilian style food! Yum yum. I had the papa's perfect pasta. Creamy Alfredo sauce, capers, tomatoes, chunks of grilled chicken with a slight fried crust on top. The chicken was done perfectly! I liked the extra thin crisp. Pasta and sauce was fairly on-point. A little heavy on the white wine flavor but the rest was great. Two bread rolls with the meal they are not gluten free and you may need to ask for them. My boyfriend and I both started off with the Short Bus to Long Island cocktails and shared an order of mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. The drinks came quick and tasted great. For entrees, I got the Shrimp Called Wanda, which was great and a perfect portion size, but when the nice lady tells you it's spicy, believe her! My boyfriend got the caprese salad as an entree and loved it! The wait staff were fantastic, and the music was delightful. Spinella's is open, operating, and is better than ever! They've converted their parking lot to an outdoor dining area, complete with a bandstand and live music. Seating is various-sized picnic and conventional tables, each with a large umbrella to provide shade. All are appropriately socially-distanced. Signage for the COVD-19 pandemic is VERY abundant and very conspicuous, and is very highly appreciated. They currently have a small "patio menu" (printed single-use) that covers all the bases. Staff is more abundant than I've ever seen (I counted at least 6), and service is great! The food is also markedly better than on my previous visit. I got the ground chuck burger with bacon and cheddar, and it was PERFECT!!! Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfectly juicy, on a perfectly fresh and delicious roll. The fries I ordered were fantastic, too. Hiding under my order of fries were house-made potato chips, too! I generally despise potato chips, but these were absolutely fantastic. I'm SO happy that I went to Spinella's. Everything was just fantastic. Great live music with a great-sounding PA that sounded great and was at the perfect volume level to hear clearly and still be able to converse with others at my table. We are fans of Spinella's. The food is good -- always comfort food that is sure to leave you satisfied. I sometimes feel like a glutton, but as an occasional treat it is nice. I've had good burgers, pasta, and Mac n Cheese. They also have outdoor seating, and expanded that into the parking lot next door during the pandemic. Waitress let us know wait time for food was 1.25 hours!? 6 of us ordered our food at once. I tried the gf marinara pasta for $19 with upcharge. Wife had portobello burger. 'bout 45 minutes later our food arrives. Pedestrian would be generous. 10 minutes later 2 more dishes arrived. 15 minutes later the last 2 dishes arrived I had finished my meal by then. No apologies. Horrible kitchen. Very poor acoustics for music. Poor acoustics or talking also. Expect to yell a lot during your meal. 'Band' was amateurish Can't think of a reason to Got a message from the owner defending his establishment, understandable. I did misstate the price by $1.55 and have corrected that. The marinara is an old recipe, I guess. I mentioned the interior was gaudy. There are many 'paint night' art up. My comment was more directed at the difference in style between the exterior and interior Last he mentioned the small kitchen and bringing food out untimely is supposed to be relayed to the customer. We came in for "lupper" right after they opened on a Saturday after hiking in the area. They host a lot of live music and there were a number of tables already marked as reserved for later in the evening before the music began, so it's nice to know you can reserve a spot. Our server was friendly and patient as it took us a long time to look over their huge menu. Seriously, the menu is extensive and they have a lot more than just burgers & sammies that you would expect. The Hubs had their version of a French Dip & I had their Portobello sandwich. Both were good. The burgers & sammies come with their house-made BBQ chips which were tasty. If you prefer you can upgrade your side for a small charge to get tots, fries or slaw (and possibly some other options I don't recall). The menu does have a note saying the food is made to order & when it is peak times it may take up to 45 minutes to receive your order, so keep that it mind if you are coming here to eat when they are busy. Server was friendly, however, the bartender had zero personality, and all of our food (including our drinks & silverware) came out in plastic to-go containers and we had to order everything at the bar. If that was the case, I would of never brought it up. & this is the first place I have EVER eaten at that does not use actual plates, silverware, etc. when eating outside. This is my kind of place. It's an old church that was turned into restaurant/bar. We stop by here on a rainy day after grabbing so really good food down the street. We ran up and in because I was not prepared for rain. Ha! We took a look at the menu and started to order some drinks. They have a huge selection of specialty drinks like martinis and long drinks. I love a place that has more than just the normal drinks. My favorite drink I had was the Blueberry Boy Bait, delicious yet strong. They also have food but we were already super full. Reminds me a lot of what my neighbor would cook growing up. It is legit. We have been here a few times now and tried multiple items and everything is great. I have never had a complaint on anything there. The drinks are fantastic, you can tell they are made from scratch like they should be. The service is fantastic. They make sure you have everything you need and will check back a couple of time but also leave you alone. You may have to wait a bit to get your food, but that is because it is fresh. Well worth it.
