I found Cherry on Yelp and messaged her just a few days ahead of the Tuesday night event. She responded with her quote and the relevant details, and after mulling over whether or not to spend the money, I secured the appointment with a deposit the night before. She only had a 1:00 slot available, but she was able to come to me, meeting me in my hotel room. She arrived right on time with an arsenal of beauty supplies. I liked her immediately. She was so friendly and energetic, and said flattering things about my skin, obviously music to my 39-year-old ears. I had a great time hanging out with her. She asked what I was looking for and I said I was walking a red carpet and just wanted to look good. She took me through her overall plan and started with my eye makeup, layering on colors and checking in to see if I was okay with the level of drama. I didn't know enough to weigh in and let her do her thing, and less than an hour later, I was fully dolled up. She even put fake eyelashes on top of my already fake eyelashes. To be honest, I was a little worried at first. I looked very dramatic for two in the afternoon, and I wondered if I'd let her go overboard. Once I was dressed and at the premiere, though, I felt fairly confident and comfortable and got lots of compliments. I walked the carpet, the second time I've done that in my life, and stood and posed awkwardly for a million photos. I've seen the pictures from both events and am really glad I got my makeup done this time around. The bolder makeup just worked better with those bright lights. I'm not professionally pretty (I'm a writer, which is, if anything, an ugly person's job) so it was fun to get my face painted and hang out with the attractive people who go to television premieres. In the appointment with Shara, I discovered that she was first and foremost an incredible listener, as my teen had specific requests. Shara treated my teen like her most important client and answered questions throughout the session. She explained every step of the process (with 'why', for my scientifically minded kid) and gave her choices throughout the lesson. My daughter never felt like she was being pushed into a look that wasn't uniquely her. The best part of all was the hands-on practice which gave my teen enormous confidence. The salon interior is lovely and an experience in of itself: a pristine white loft on the fourth floor. It's well-designed, minimalist and sun kissed, making for a bright and lovely experience. The salon staff are efficient and so pleasant making the overall experience a boost to your day. I had a single process (with Tam) and cut (with Chen). Both were done professionally. Tam is such a pleasant and kind coiffure. Chen does an amazing blow dry and is a very talented hairdresser. He does good haircuts too. I cannot recommend both of them enough after the pleasant experience I had, right down to the thoughtfully prepared cappuccino and biscotti for their clients. The one thing that places this salon in my favourites list is the fact that they use Kerastase products which are really so agreeable with my hair type and have been a product that I have used since my 20's at hairdressers around the world. The Kerstase shampoos and conditioners brought back such nice and happy memories ... The prices range from USD 165-200 dollars for a single process. About USD 155- 258 dollars for a cut and USD 67-150 dollars for a blow dry. The only thing I would change or ask more of at this salon would be music, music, MUSIC! Since it was a Saturday, it was decently busy when I arrived, but I did not have to wait more than a couple minutes to get seen. The space is small and it was a bit smoky inside due to the use of the blow dryers, but it didn't bother me. My coat was hung up when I walked in and I was offered a beverage which was nice. My blowout looked great, and my stylist took care to ask me what look I wanted and checked if I was ok with product in my hair. They told me they're no longer on ClassPass and that my reservation wouldn't be honored. That was frustrating, but I understood, and politely asked if they could cancel it on their end so I could get my credits back. Instead of helping, they asked me to book directly with them. When I politely declined, they called me rude while hanging up on me. Unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. If this is how they handle simple customer service, I can't imagine trusting them with actual services. Unorganized, rude, and not worth the stress.
