Overall - extremely disappointed & hurt. I used Sugar Magnolias for my wedding flowers. Right off the bat, walking into my venue space (after almost two years of planning) I couldn't believe my eyes. After numerous emails back and forth, an in person meeting, multiple PowerPoint slides with photos representing exactly what I wanted... I was shocked to see the end result. Many flowers were dead/ wilted, my bridal bouquets were not even close to what was described & in general - the arrangements were filled with mostly greenery, I believe to overcompensate for the lack of actual flowers used. This right here is what upsets me the most, I wanted my flowers to be exactly that, actual flowers with a lot of color and that's not what I got. Specifics include Heidi using a completely different vase than what was originally described/ picked out. My entry table arrangement was supposed to be a moment when everyone first walked in (ie. tall in height, branching out, dramatic) but it was identical to the reception table arrangements, literally I don't believe the arrangements were even different? They were supposed have similarities, not be the exact same. Also, I mentioned from Day 1 I didn't want 'Eucalyptus' used anywhere - and for some reason it was used in every single arrangement. Also Carnations we're used, which weren't stated anywhere on my write-up, isn't that a funeral flower? The bridesmaid bouquets I was hoping for were supposed to be small, colorful and playful for the bridesmaids and for me the bride - structured Pinkish White Calla Lilies with some greenery. I was expecting the bouquet to be exactly like the inspiration photo I sent to her with an addition of a couple green leaves to help match mine to all of the more relaxed bridesmaid bouquets but instead, they were massive, bush-like, weedy & again mostly filled up with greenery. My lilies were also white and deep purple/blue - which was the wrong color. A week before the event she sends me a final invoice, increasing the prices of some items, without even pointing it out to me. Almost as if she was hoping I wouldn't notice? Her response to me asking about the price change was extremely argumentative. I honestly hate that I have to spend time writing this and in full detail - but there were just so many things wrong. She emailed my sister day-of, blaming it on 'Supply Issues' - when none of this was directly communicated to me beforehand, aside from her sending me a generic PDF she sent to all of her brides basically stating 'she had issues getting hard goods and flowers were more expensive.' But also....to not stress, she's been doing this for 40 years and is going to stick to color schemes and make sure everything is done as expected' so why would I be worried - she said she had it covered regardless? If she communicated this to me before my wedding (let's say about the entry urn specifically) I would've took it upon myself to buy / source one separately - she basically had 2 years to find 1 Urn!? I had a large Rehearsal dinner the night before, using a different florist, and ran into zero issues. Which leads me to believe that Heidis actions/ reasonings aren't industry standards. I tried to not let this whole shebang bother me at my wedding. It took her 4 days to respond to my email. In her email, she had the nerve to say she wanted to blow me off?! Her explanation was extremely defensive, basically blaming everything on Covid-19 & only addressed 1 of my concerns (the greenery to my bridal bouquet) - nothing else! $8k later and zero accountability. I hope this is helpful for other brides, as you only get married once and deserve what you want, ask for and are promised. Covid-19 took so much from all of us (especially those who have been planning a wedding) don't let it ruin yours! read more

Heidi and her team at Sugar Magnolias were amazing! She was so professional, scheduling a phone call to discuss our vision for the wedding flowers. She was also super accommodating, as I made changes to the floral plan up to a few weeks before the wedding and it was never a problem. She was very communicative. On the day of our wedding, she was great! The flowers got there by the time we needed them and all the bouquets and boutonnieres were amazing!! I was in love with mine and my bridesmaids'. The one super minor thing was our flower person buckets came with bouquets of flowers instead of petals, but it was super easy to tear the petals off before they walked down the aisle to throw them. I have to agree with the other brides that have reviewed this florist. As soon as Heidi got our deposit she no longer cared about working with us. Her "shop" had no flowers or examples of her work other than pictures, which should have been my first red flag. Her attitude only got worse as time went along. When I later realized the centerpieces we had chosen would be out of our budget, I requested to do something smaller with less variation of flowers in an effort to save money. She rudely told me "fine but you're going to hate it." I sent her a swatch of my bridesmaids' dresses (which were blue) so she could match the ribbons on the bouquets, and she completely ignored it and made them pink. I also requested roses for our cake and even sent her a picture of exactly what I wanted. Whoever delivered them just left them at the venue with no instructions, and I ended up with a big bunch of wilted hydrangea on top of the cake even though I specifically told Heidi that was not what I wanted. She only wants to do what she likes and will not care one bit about putting in effort to make YOUR day what you want it to be. I don't think she should be doing weddings, and I wouldn't recommend her to any other brides. read more

She went above and beyond for us when the flowers my wife wanted weren't able to be delivered to due to seasonal issues. In case you don't read this entire review, I hope you'll consider using Sugar Magnolias as there isn't a single event vendor I would recommend more! After many years of using Heidi's business, I don't even bother going elsewhere! Sugar Magnolias came highly recommended to my family 7 years ago by my sister's wedding venue. After interviewing many florists, we chose Heidi (the owner) to design the 48" tall floral arrangements that would top more than 25 guest, cocktail and banquet tables. They were stunning and as a result we have chosen to use her for many of our family events. In the last 6 years we have gone straight to Heidi for my mother's surprise 50th birthday party (40 at home), my own wedding (90 people at a private waterfront estate) and a baby shower at Mirabelle's (brunch for 28 people). Each party had very different budgets and looks but each was done so tastefully. The flowers she used were the best quality I've ever encountered and lasted at least a week after the events. Pricing is always more than fair for what we get. Of the 4 florists we interviewed, Heidi was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. She was however the most accommodating and really treats every client as her number one priority. When we are collaborating with her, she never looks at her cell phone, answers the shop phone or rushes us to make any decisions. She always gives us plenty of ideas and options to ensure we get exactly the look we are going for without stretching the budget. Heidi's expertise in floral design always makes her the easiest vendor to work with. When planning my wedding, there were many uphill battles and plenty of stress but every conversation I had with Heidi was so pleasant and reassured me that everything would come together beautifully. She has so much experience in event planning and is happy to share it with her clients (although she does not professionally provide these services). If she says the flowers will be delivered at noon, the flowers will be coming through the door at noon and her staff will stay and make sure you're happy with the way it looks before wishing you a lovely time and saying goodbye. Even her staff has surprised me with how friendly and dependable they are. I was so sad so see that a bride had a bad experience with Sugar Magnolias. I live in the same town as the shop and I've never heard of anyone having an unpleasant experience with her company. In the beginning when I first met Heidi she was all about the sale, and "working with me" I cant tell you how confident I felt being around her and having her do my wedding. I am a makeup artist and If i could do the flowers myself i would have. I know what I like and certainly what I dont! I reached out only a few times and little by little she became short in her words and almost flustered every time I spoke with her. She had an extremely condescending responce every time I reached out to her. I explained my simplicity and desire to not be over the top or GAUDY in my choices and explained a freshly cut organic and almost messy bouquet. She demanded the money upfront on the day before her delivery and did not notify me the day of when the flowers arrived. She left them in the bathtub for my mother to sigh=n off on who had no idea what I ordered. The size and style of my bouquet was ridiculous. It was so big and heavy it began to fall apart by after the church. Full of ugly foam plastic and water. was at least 20 lbs. I hated it. the flowers themselves were pretty but the put together BLAH. She pretended she knew what I wanted and FAILed.. LISTEN instead of talking so much...HEAR what your client is saying. You collected your "cash" before I saw the product.. You refused to do a test so we could agree on style. You confidently said I know exactly what you want.. but you didn't. read more
