First, on January 10, 2011, I purchased a 6.5 oz box of Jujubes from Blockbuster Video (Store #02743) at the inflated price of $1.99. As a long time fan of the Jujube, I stomached the price in hopes of enjoying my treat while watching the DVDs I rented. To my disappointment and surprise, I found the Jujubes to lack their trademark flavored gel pellet appeal and instead found them to be stale and utterly devoid of flavor. It felt as if I was chewing on empty pistachios. I'm hopeful that you might redeem my experience. While all true candy lovers know the proper pronunciation of Jujubes is Jew-Jew-Beez, it's become fashionable for some rabble-rousers to suggest that the correct pronunciation, given the rules of grammar, is Jew-Jewbs. Jew-Jew-Beez would require an additional E in the spelling of Jujubees. I'm inclined to agree with them. There's smaller quantities on sale too if you don't want to go all in. There's a museum-type area in the back where they show the old candy machine that fueled the original candy shop, and a TV showing how the candy was produced. Of course, the production is now modernized. There's a large bulk section for candies, and a candy counter. The service I received in the shop was impeccable. If I'm ever back in town, I'll make sure to diet a bit before returning to this shop. It is excellent.
