Got 14 gluten free cupcakes for my mom's birthday of varying flavors. She was tickled!! Our one…read morecritique is the icing is VERY sweet for some flavors (chocolate and salted caramel, chocolate, and vanilla). The cakes themselves were phenomenal. I personally LOVED the strawberry icing. Seems to be made with real, fresh strawberries as I swear I saw strawberry seeds mixed in and the flavor is true to real strawberry, not the fake strawberry flavors you might get from extracts. We didn't eat all of them so I got Desert cups from Hobby Lobby and froze then individually so mom can grab one at a time from the freezer when she has a sweet tooth and doesn't have to have a bunch out that may go stale before she can eat them all. Will definitely be a repeat customer for those occasions Mom joins us and highly recommend!

We grabbed an assortment of cupcakes: Cookies and Cream, a daily special of Strawberry Lemonade, a plain Lemon, and a Raspberry. Each one was DELICIOUS! Our favorites tied for first place? Cookies and Cream and Raspberry! The icing was incredible and the cake portions were delicious and just perfect! The other thing we really appreciated was the service. We were met with a friendly smile and we were walked through each flavor and we were also informed that the bakery was donating a portion of anything lemon flavored that day to a local charity! They also have lovely soaps, lotions, and other little treasures. We can't wait to visit again soon!

The cafe is to the left upon entry and the bakery and display is to the right, and what a display!…read moreA Greenville staple for over 75 years, they moved to this location in 2002 and have been named by Southern Living Magazine as the #4 best bakery in the South. The old adage that "we first eat with our eyes" is on full display here; pictures cannot do it full justice. And the smells of the bakery and cafe add to the sensory experience. The bakery side infuses flavors in their treats with flavors wash technique (typically on unbaked products and based on egg and cream mixture) that ensures moist and tender cakes or pastries. One example, for the forthcoming Kentucky Derby they had a cake washed with mint and bourbon that included a mint layer of icing and a bourbon based layer of icing inside the cake to achieve a "mint julep" cake. Of several items we purchased, mostly the cake part is standard white cake with flavor added and very nicely decorated. If one were to judge just on taste, it's essentially a good white cake, the "wow" comes from the decoration and somewhat the flavors. Heavy on the icing. But that is the decadence many want, and it looks great. I had the key lime pound cake and it was good, but a lighter example compared to Granny's (my Granny), so that's an unfair comparison, but it was lighter than anticipated and Granny's isn't the only pound cake I've had. The key lime was more subtle than the visual and mostly came from the glaze. The visual was so good, I asked if we could buy by the slice and the staff agreed to slice up a full cake for my slice and since they were getting low on pre-sliced available pound cake options. My wife loved it all! They do have take and bake casseroles and the cafe side has great sandwiches, an admirable Reuben if I remember. We must come here more often as it is very good and convenient and Granny took here recipe to the grave years ago, (RIP).

No bagels! However, a whole variety of different breads are available. The sweet treats are an absolute Picture. They have decorated whole cakes, pastries, muffins, cookies, cupcakes, and so much more. Everything is baked in house and you can see the pastry chefs in the background doing their work. The bakery is large with lots of space to sit down in the eat. They have indoor seating, they have patio seating that is enclosed, and then they have outdoor patio seating. Very comfortable. Parking is very easy with a large lot in front. They have beautiful cakes you can order on site, and they have lovely gift items; honey, truffles, kitchen items and more and more. What a delightful treat to be here!

I saw produce on the right with big, bright signage and the left had a seating area to enjoy eating a meal. I loved browsing the frozen foods area, tons of unique and healthy looking items! I picked up a couple egg, cheese, English muffin meals for $2.50 each which looks so much healthier than McDonald's version. I grabbed two naan bread pizzas for $3 each which is so unique sounding! I also selected veggie tots on sale and noticed other EarthFare brand items offered extra points. I signed up for the points card and checkout was quick and I appreciate the paper bags instead of plastic. I'll be bringing my reusable bag next time for extra good vibes.

I used to shop at Earthfare every week on way home from work but ironically after it's major store…read morerenovation, I had stopped shopping here when I found a different place with lower prices, and would come periodically. The main reason why I would come was for the organic kale and fruits, in addition to the grass fed ground beef and no antibiotic/hormone chicken parts (yeah, we definitely aren't vegetarians) and sadly the meat department employees that used to work there no longer are? But the current guy who I do recognize as he was just starting several months back was still very friendly and efficient. I came this afternoon as perhaps due to the romaine lettuce contamination, it seems organic kale has been an alternative choice for lettuce eaters? I stopped by to get kale and was very pleased to find, not only organic kale, but it being on sale for $4/2, and the other one not quite $2. Great price! I unfortunately did not find any organic strawberries, must be out of season though my usual place gets them but are always picked through by the time I get there. I decided to swing by the meat area and decided to get GF ground sirloin. They tend to be around $5.99/lb - good price as they can go for much higher. (Note: the next day, I received a text that there's a sale for $3.99/lb GF which is an awesome price). I also picked up some boneless skinless chicken thighs as they are very tender and made great for the dish my son made. I was looking for a special GF/DF (gluten free, dairy free) pastry product that was advertised on FB and stated it'd be at Earthfare. Could not find it, and no one heard of it. However, there were some new frozen DF dessert ice cream bar like products that I bought. Though the renovation made the whole place feel more expansive and open, the seating area is right along the side near the front, etc . . For some reason, it lost that more intimate and cozy feel to it for me. It used to have a room that could be used for meetings or something (years ago, my son's martial arts studio held a ceremony in it, and we could easily get healthy food from their deli/food counter). That's no longer possible. They still have good prices when products are on sale, and they do carry certain things consistently and known for products without hormones nor antibiotics, so hope they stay in business. I shopped here as soon as my husband was very ill with his autoimmune disease and the food source was utmost importance. I love what they stand for and you earn points each time you come and can get other points bringing your own bags. I love that they encourage people to not use plastics (they have paper bags) but to use their own recycling bags. I have a whole bunch of them in car trunk as not only is it important what we put inside our body, it's important what we put on our planet.
