Sitting in the restaurant and eating is not the same experience. My friend and I got the same sandwich. Hers was missing the bacon and mine was missing the lettuce. My coffee was not hot. I asked for it to be reheated. I got a new one and that one wasn't hot either. I hate warm or cold coffee. The seating area can use a good cleaning. And the food is very expensive. It gets on my nerves when the tip screen pops up because I don't want to give a tip if my coffee is consistently cold and my sandwich is missing stuff. It's already overpriced to begin with. The young lady at the register needs a bit more training. The last time I stopped in she gave me a very sloppy earl gray tea. I had to deconstruct the cup which was very poorly put together with two lids...smh. Anyway, I know to order my pastries to go when I come here. A cookie, albeit large, is about $5.35 with tax! I'm all for supporting small local businesses, but you have to give me good service and don't charge me an arm and a leg and still expect a tip for a cookie to go. If they clean up the interior, get the orders correct and train their young staff member a little better this might be a decent place to stop in and enjoy a lite lunch. But be prepared for a hefty tab.

The strawberry flavor itself was pretty subtle, but the crème was light and airy, and the pastry shell had a great crisp to it. And you can tell the donuts are baked fresh daily as you can smell them right as you walk in. They have such a great selection of flavors, they have donuts, fritters, and they bake fresh crossaints on the weekends, they can stuff your donut with your pick of cream. Once we decided on them (chocolate and vanilla with vanilla buttercream), she made legos and lego men cupcake toppers out of chocolate and fondant 5s and 2s (for my boys' ages). And they had festive lego-colored confetti on them. They were ADORABLE! Picking them up was really easy and they were ready when I arrived. The cake was really moist with the perfect level of sweetness, and had really delicious chocolate and vanilla flavor. Even after moving to NC, every trip back home to MI would not be complete without stopping to get cookies. Even made a few fans of the place in Charlotte. While I've tried many of their other flavors I always keep coming back to the original- chocolate chip cookie. She has hands down mastered it. Best cookie I've ever tasted! Coming from a person who is often requested to sell my own chocolate chip cookie version, this is high praise indeed. Infact, this is one of the only recipes I have yet been able to recreate. I've come pretty durn close but still not there. Well, since we've moved back to the state I guess I will have to frequent often so that I can "study" more. Here's to more R&D
