I had been a loyal client for 15 years! Ever since they were located across the street with just the owner. I have stayed despite the price increase ($87 without tip is OUTRAGEOUS!) because of my sugarist Maia. I am a larger woman and her many many years of experience along with her speed made her the best. I found out she was let go (she opened her own studio now) and it has just reminded me how I could not believe i paid sugaring LA's price for so many years. SugaringLA is a beachy, clean spa that offers a wide variety of hair removal services but they are most popular for their Brazilian waxing and bikini waxing. Can you believe they only use lemon, sugar, and water? Logan conducted my leg waxing--she is a GEM who does her job superbly. The removal process was very minimal in pain and (even with Logan being attentive to the details and assessing everything to make sure she removes everything) was super efficient! If I could give this location ZERO stars i would! I am a FORMER SUGARIST and would not recommend this job to anyone due to this . The management team, particularly at the Santa Monica location, should be thoroughly reviewed. My experience has been that the studio manager, Amber, has demonstrated behavior that is inappropriate for someone in a leadership position. There have been ongoing concerns regarding favoritism, harassment of certain employees, unprofessional communication, and discussions about staff members behind their backs. Additionally, I have observed instances where commissions appeared to be reassigned or altered in a manner that raised concerns about compensation accuracy and transparency. When these issues were brought to upper management's attention, the response did not appear to adequately address the seriousness of the concerns. I am also concerned that Amber has recommended products to clients despite not holding the appropriate license or qualifications to do so. This raises potential compliance and professional standards issues. Furthermore, the company's compensation structure lacks consistency and transparency. Commission rates have been changed repeatedly, creating confusion and uncertainty among employees. The cancellation of employee health insurance benefits, while continuing to expect full-time commitment from staff, has further contributed to low morale and concerns about how employees are valued and treated. It was my first sugaring. What makes sugaring greater than waxing? It doesn't irritate, leaves no redness, and it's pretty pain-free. I think I'll stick to threading for eyebrows since shaping and arching require a bit more precision than I think sugaring allows. But for other areas that don't require that, I'll choose sugaring. I originally came here as I got an ad for 2 for $79, both great experiences. I ended up buying a membership and think It is worth the money if you are consistent. I have had a good experience with all appointments. I do like that they have pretty good availability so I can call last min for appointments. Everyone is super nice and professional. Cozy but clean fresh vibes. I'm remembered by front end staff, even when I'm seeing a different sugarist than normal and that feels really nice. :) Every sugarist I've seen is really good at getting me to keep yapping. I know it's part of their job and they're maybe not INVESTED, but it's never awkward and I can tell that at least in the moment they're happy to listen and have me keep going on and on. I enjoy seeing the same person over and over again to give updates on my life (I like to think of myself as some love RTV), but everyone I've seen does a great job and is super warm. I've been to a variety of wax studios/aestheticians and have been getting waxing services since 2018. I keep going back here for a reason. My favorite places in the past (a different city before relocating) happened to be small, privately owned. A perk of SugaringLA is that because they have so many aestheticians it's fairly easy to get an appointment last minute. (Excepting major holidays). I've even just walked in for underarm touch ups. It's not uncomfortable/overly painful here, I'm not worried about the products (including the actual sugaring mixture) they use here causing a reaction on my skin (as opposed to a certain purple wax at a certain chain). Rooms are always clean, and are clinical enough to feel clean and less awkward, but cozy enough that it's not scary. (Also unlike a certain chain...) Pricing is really reasonable. read more

I had some extra classpass credits to use, so I decided to get my brows and lip cleaned up. My first time sugaring! The ambiance is super nice - minimalistic, clean, and natural. The whole procedure only took about 15 minutes. I would've appreciated if the sugar was cleaned off my face better afterwards - there were small bits in my eyelashes blocking my vision, but that was just a small inconvenience. I was initially impressed with the quick service, but I realized the next day there was still hair remaining on my upper lip. The redness also didn't go away and I developed bumps on my face. These areas felt like a burn - my guess is from the lemon acidity in the ingredients, which wasn't completely removed. My recommendation is to wash your face with water in their bathroom afterwards to ensure all the sugar is off, to avoid a reaction like mine. read more

She did my Brazilian Bikini and I couldn't be more satisfied with her work. She is QUICK! I was out the door in 10-15 minutes. My skin felt soft and smooth. She knows what she is doing! I'm sure that the rest of their team is wonderful as well. While it's not cheap (I paid $71 for a Brazilian Bikini hair removal) I think it's worth it. Writing this review to warn others about SugaringLA's questionable practices. To summarize, they double charge and cheat customers. During my first appointment, I took advantage of a first-time client promotion to prepay for two Brazilian waxing sessions. However, upon returning for my second session, Aliza Turnbull refused to honor the prepayment. Aliza acknowledged seeing my past receipt with payment for two sessions but argued that my original online booking was for a single session (I saw the promo when walking into the store for the first time so obviously when I booked online it was just for a single session). She insisted that I should have changed my booking after paying for the promotion...why should I, a customer, manage their internal backend appointment system...lol This resulted in me PAYING DOUBLE for a single service BECAUSE OF A MISTAKE THEY MADE. Be cautious of their poor customer service and failure to honor advertised promotions, despite having clear records of payment -- to make matters worse Aliza was so rude about it -- awful experience all around. read more

I scheduled a last minute appointment just 1 hour before my scheduled time. I was thankful to have gotten an appointment so quickly as I was struggling to find availability with my previous sugaring expert. Ashley completed the job efficiently and effectively. There was absolutely no residue left behind, all hair was removed, and any ingrown were tweezed meticulously. It's been years since I've had a sugaring expert show this much care! I'm a waxing/sugaring regular, but I've been struggling to find my perfect salon after moving to a new part of LA. Prices on the west side are higher than Hollywood, but my experience at sugaringLA was fantastic. They also have a 2 for $69 Brazilian special, which is what I purchased. They have a multitude of appointments in morning and evening, making it super convenient to book online. The salon is clean and bright. The front desk staff were friendly, and my appointment was prompt and on time without feeling rushed. Now for the sugaring - this was as close to a pain free experience as I'll probably ever get. I stagger visits every 5 weeks with no shaving, just trimming/tweezing. Somehow, even after waxing, there'll be some missed hairs that the esthetician has to aggressively tweeze, or I'll find them at home. Not here! Smoothest experience I've ever had. The sugaring also wasn't too hot - I've gotten mild irritations/burns at nice facilities before, but here was incredibly comfortable with virtually no skin irritation at all.
