I'm a waxing/sugaring regular, but I've been struggling to find my perfect salon after moving to a new part of LA. Prices on the west side are higher than Hollywood, but my experience at sugaringLA was fantastic. They also have a 2 for $69 Brazilian special, which is what I purchased. They have a multitude of appointments in morning and evening, making it super convenient to book online. The salon is clean and bright. The front desk staff were friendly, and my appointment was prompt and on time without feeling rushed. Now for the sugaring - this was as close to a pain free experience as I'll probably ever get. I stagger visits every 5 weeks with no shaving, just trimming/tweezing. Somehow, even after waxing, there'll be some missed hairs that the esthetician has to aggressively tweeze, or I'll find them at home. Not here! Smoothest experience I've ever had. The sugaring also wasn't too hot - I've gotten mild irritations/burns at nice facilities before, but here was incredibly comfortable with virtually no skin irritation at all. I've been getting waxed since I was 18 years old, I'm turning 28 this year. I've tried sugar wax, hard wax, honey wax, literally everything. But I truly have not received better service anywhere else. Although I'm sure all waxers are great, Madison M is the absolute BEST. She is not only quick, but she's gentle and thorough. I am in and out of the door within 15 minutes now. But when I had my first wax with Madison, she took her time to get to know me and was very conscious after I told her I have extremely sensitive skin. Just to explain how sensitive, I often have eczema flare ups during summer. In a different salon, I had an esthetician pull the wax too hard, which caused my skin to rip and I had to go to the ER. My skin has never reacted negatively after a wax here. The salon is super clean and has a relaxing vibe. The receptionist is always extremely kind and welcoming. I feel so lucky to have found them. I just had a terrible experience at the Santa Monica Sugaring LA, I'm leaving bleeding and with wax all over me, in areas that were not meant to be treated. The sugarist sugared over a scab and said she didn't see it, so I'm now bleeding a ton. Additionally, I was scheduled to see a specific sugarist, and when I arrived, I found out that my scheduled sugarist was out sick. No one contacted me to let me know, so I waited 50 minutes to see a different, inexperienced sugarist, leading to this terrible experience. The vibe was awful too. There is no front desk receptionist, no one picks up the phone, and the sugarist had to charge my credit card, to which I had to tell her I wasn't going to be leaving a tip. Super uncomfortable experience. This was an awful experience, this place has really gone downhill. read more

It was my first time ever doing any type of bikini service. I have sensitive skin so sugaring seemed like a better option for me than waxing (though I can't compare) scheduling was seamless and when I arrived I was seen without any wait time. My practitioner put me right at ease and though it wasn't painless (first time as I understand is the roughest!) my practitioner was a pro at talking me through the process. Worst experience ever. Went here for the first time for a Brazilian since my usual sugarist moved cities and I found this through Groupon. My aesthetician Maia was so unpleasant to deal with and also missed a ton of hair. So I tried tweezing it myself after I got home. I couldn't get all the hair though. Instead of leaving a negative review I figured I would give them a chance to correct the mistake and called them to explain. I was told that Maia said that I had come in when my hair was too short (I had sugared 4.5 weeks before) and that I had recently shaved (I haven't shaved in years). She hadn't said anything about my hair being too short at the appointment. But they said they could do a touch up so I figured I'd give it another go. I asked for a different sugarist this time but they insisted on giving me Maia again so I went. Well I just got out of the touch up service and it was awful to say the least. A couple things she said to me during the touch up session: "So you just hop around to different sugarists all around the city don't you?" (weird comment), also "I just don't understand why you waited 2 days after the first session to call and complain, if it were really true I had missed these hairs you would have called the day of", also "so you're saying that your last sugarist would have gotten these hairs?" (Yeah she WOULD have) and finally "you must have shaved or tweezed or done something and are not remembering". Also, she made me crawl up on to a table that was still wet from cleaning and get my shirt wet because she couldn't wait 1 minute in between clients. Long story short she said she couldn't even get the hairs again this time and had to tweeze instead and then proceeded to violently tweeze my skin more than my actual hair. I'm sitting here in my car feeling raw and literally bleeding from several spots and feeling so upset that once again I just wasted 30 minutes of driving to come here and give them a second chance. Not sure what exactly is going on in Maia's personal life but please stop taking it out on clients. My skin has never felt worse. read more

Unlike waxing which uses an entire strip, and it's done in 30 mins . This is bit by bit ( piece by piece). Although the part that was done looks healthy . No bumps or redness. This was my very first time getting sugared or waxed, as I've only been shaving prior to this, and although it was extremely painful (as a given), Aja made my experience super comfortable and even humorous! I've been wanting to get a Brazilian sugar for the longest time and I'm so glad I finally tried it. Aja talked to me the whole way through and it was a good distraction because she was making me laugh a lot. It took ~25min which I was happy about and she was super quick but careful. I did initially feel weird about letting someone see my intimate parts but she made me feel assured when she said she's used to this because she's been working in this industry for 15 years.
