She is very knowledgeable and friendly and answered all my questions. I also like that we had a natural conversation as she did it. I was sufficiently distracted and it barely hurt. And amazingly she includes the tummy strip for free! The spa is very clean and well decorated. Loved the ambiance. I also love that it was just me and her. No waiting and I got that 1:1 attention. The Good: To start there is no business signage on the front or any type of indication that this is " Uncovered LA" literally just an all black storefront, with blacked out windows and a black iron gate door. Once you walk in though, it is very nice and looks neat and clean. Max who usually does my waxing, is pleasant. She does small talk to catch up and tries give breaks to relieve you through the waxing process which can be painful. The bad: she doesn't use any type of protective barriers on the waxing table which i find very unhygienic. I remember she stopped investing in the paper roll that you use to cover the table similar to what they use in a doctor's office before you sit on the examination table. She started reusing towels instead which i still think is pretty unsanitary. She also use reuses wash cloths to wipe your sensitive areas down and that just freaks me out every time. I've never had someone reuse wash cloths always a fresh warmed wipe. I even thought about bringing my own supplies like I do at the nails salon to not get a fungal infection, but I shouldn't have to do all that. The Ugly: my last visit I unfortunately received a bad bacterial infection after getting a wax from Max. I remember her looking for a towel to put down on the table and couldn't find one and i was in a super rush to catch a flight later that day so i just had her wipe down the black waxing table with a sanitizer wipe and i got it done. She used this same white wash cloths as per usual to wipe me down afterwards. Later that day I started to feel uncomfortable "down there" and had discharge that hasn't stoped since I go back from my trip. When I got checked, I was told it was a bacterial infection and I wont go into to much details, but I find myself having to wear a pantie liner EVERYDAY which is something I've NEVER had to worry about before. I waited a long time to post this review because I didn't want to negatively impact her business, but this experience has really changed my life and the money that I have to constantly spend on liners was definitely not worth a $60 Brazilian wax. Needless to say, I was naïve and really should have voice my concerns, but what an expensive lesson to lean. Ladies please take care of your health and always speak up if something doesn't feel right to you especially when paying for a service.

What's truly disappointing is not even the refusal, but the complete lack of basic understanding and customer care, even knowing it was for a special occasion. While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can happen, last minute cancellations like this are highly inconvenient and disruptive. What makes this situation frustrating is the strict enforcement of the company's cancellation policy, which charges customers a 50% fee when canceling less than 24hrs in advance. It is only fair that the same level of accountability be upheld on both sides. Customers are expected to respect the policy, and in return, the business should demonstrate the same consideration and reliability. Not be compensated with a $5 discount. When if I had canceled the appointment would have been charged $30. Experiencing this issue more than once concerns me about their consistency and professionalism. I hope improvements are made to better manage scheduling or compensation.

The few times I've been sugared here have been the most painful experiences. I've been getting sugared ( Brazilians) to be specific FOR YEARS so im no newby to the pain. I didn't decide to leave a review of my experience up until now because at the least, on my first experience I received exceptional customer service. Today just left me feeling really devastated. The customer service with Sugarist Kathy was shocking. I don't understand how someone in this type of field could be so unwelcoming and careless. It felt like she did not want to be there. She did not bother to introduce herself kindly or interact with me in any kind of way. She seemed very annoyed. She didn't care to make me feel welcomed or comfortable in such an intimate service. During the service I expressed to her that she was going too fast for me as I was in extreme pain from the way she was applying the sugar on my skin to the yanking of the hair. She stated that it was because I was on my cycle and because my hair was extremely long, now I understand it was long but like I said im not a newby to the pain of a Brazilian. She could've responded in a more understanding way. It just was not a pleasant experience for me from the moment she came out to get me from the lobby because of the customer service. I don't know if I got her on a bad day, but I wouldn't want any girl to experience the treatment that I did today.
