My haircut here was 3 or 4 stars, but the service is 1 or 2. I went twice and will never go again. Each time I made an appointment. Each time I showed up 10 minutes early, like I always do for haircuts, and each time I waited an absurd amount of time for my haircut. The first time it was 1 hour. The second time, it was over 2 hours and they kept moving me around the salon to wait because it was so crowded. The girl ended up cutting my hair DRY because all of the washing stations were occupied (and I had already waited over 2 hours), then she washed it AFTER cutting and blowed it dry immediately after, while it was still soaking wet. It is common knowledge how bad that is for your hair, I would expect a stylist to know better. I just wanted to get out at that point. Both times I made an appointment in advance and was told I would have a specific stylist, and both times I showed up and was given a different person to cut my hair because the person I booked was "busy." Whoever is doing the booking here needs to be re-educated or replaced. This is not how a salon at their price point should operate. The girl at the desk was apologetic, but this seems to be a recurring problem. read more

Nice shop, friendly staff, but EXTREMELY overpriced for their services. When I left with my pockets almost $300 lighter I would have thought I where in Beverly Hills or something. Thank goodness for Suite Beverly! Danielle is an amazing stylist and super knowledgeable about all things hair. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff has always been super accommodating to me and my three young daughters. In addition to me, my two sisters also go there. I highly recommend Suite Beverly. They also give the best shampoo-seriously the best scalp massage I've ever had in my whole life. In addition, Margaret is super attentive and always has a super friendly disposition when you walk in. I sent my daughter to this salon after being referenced to it by someone I know in passing. Now, I should have known better because most people do not have common sense or good rationale regardless of how responsible and mentally adequate they seem. This salon was by far the worst thing I could have ever been suggested, and I'm pained to even call it a salon. The aesthetic presents an atmosphere of comfort but the practice shown by the individual responsible for my daughters hair-horror need not be appreciated. I will mention firstly that she went for a trim(style) and Wash&go. What type of "hairstylist" does not use heat protectant and blow drys 4c hair without detangling and sectioning, and at the very least partially drying hair? I am filled with rage and disgust and to be quite honest have contemplated calling this store and at the very least reporting them to consumer affairs. They have no basis of proper hair care for someone with 4c hair, a true natural. She went in for a cut. You do not need to straighten natural hair to cut it and if you do, it is because you are uneducated on how to do it and simply do not know how to do that hair. Selling these lies about, "in order for us to cut it it has to be straight," no, no it does not you lazy, scamming, money squandering loser. There's no rhyme or reason to that fallacy and a true black hairstylist knows how to do type 4, kinky hair without sacrificing the health of the hair. My daughters hair got knitted and knotted as it was blow dried and the dunce doing the blow drying had to be told. She was so clueless and had no care in the world that she didn't seem to care. I am livid and disgraced. It's not just about the money, but about the trust and lack thereof. Black women put a lot of effort to maintain their natural hair, the things we do to keep up with it are unique because of the reality that our textures often require unconventional approaches to upkeep in comparison to non-poc/non-black persons. First of all, I sent her in for a trim, and wash/go as mentioned before. I never told any of them to blow dry her hair because we do not use heat on her hair. I'm actually in disbelief someone would stand over-her head blow drying her hair for FORTY MINUTES without heat protectant and using a brush at that. She now has knotted and broken hair in some parts thanks to someone blow drying her hair FOR FORTY MINUTES when she did not ask for that. I do not remember their name and wish I did. They had the liberty to then say that she will be charged extra because it had to be blow dried. She didn't damn well ask YOU for that. IT WAS YOUR lazy behind that forced that on her. When I called them and scheduled the appointment then spoke, I did not ask for that either. Just because your stinking self felt the need to be worthless and lazy doesn't mean she should have had to pay for that. Then to have the liberty to tell her to do the wash and go it would be nearly another 30-40 dollars? Disgrace. Absolutely pitiful and pathetic and I'm really shocked STILL, nearly a week later. I'm actually glad I was not there because I refuse to have people be disrespectful, cunning and greedy to others, especially a minor who you can clearly see will be pressured into things like this for fear. I specifically made yelp to review this and I pray others see this honest account before they go in. There would have been a problem. I was up the street at work, and planned to pick her up from there but she finished earlier than I thought because they did not do what she asked and instead what in the hell they wanted to do. This is the problem with black salons like this, and it is hurtful to murmur but a white salon would never do this. You get your money by pandering to people who have natural hair and want to embrace their hair all while doing unintelligible practices and unethical services. If I ask you for one thing and you inevitably against my will do another and then say, "price will now be more" instead of saying that beforehand? You can suck it, gag on it and stick it where it's unpleasant for you to feel it. My daughter texted me during the whole process and even recorded bits and pieces because I was in disbelief. I can't get over it, we will just have to start all over again because the breakage and heat damage is unreal. She is very insecure about her hair and luckily it's "just hair", but for a lot of young black women and girls, it's not. I would never recommend this salon to anyone just because their finger coils look "nice". If I could also give negative stars, I truly would, because I feel as if one star is almost too much. read more

I was introduced to Suite Beverly by a friend. I really like how my hair is feeling. It is feeling and looking very healthy. The treatments make a difference and tomorrow will be my third visit. I recommend anyone who is trying to strengthen, grow or just want a nice look to their hair, visit Suite Beverly you will be satisfied with the outcome. Now, do I believe Suite Beverly can do better with their customer service, absolutely. I believe if a person has an appointment they should be seen at that time. Now, at times do we all run late yes but, the customer should be notified and/or told when they enter the facility. "I apologize but, we are running behind." I am not a fan of waiting that is why over 25 years ago, I cut my hair and start going to a barber. Sitting in hair salons was to exhausting. I would encourage Suite Beverly to work on their customer service but, I would also recommend that we support Black owned business. So I know nothing about my hair but I knew I wanted to try to go natural after wearing hair that has been crocheted in for a while. I google "natural hair care near my town" and this shop and a couple others popped up. I looked on their instagram and noticed a few co-workers on there so I reached out to them to inquire about the salon and they had nothing but good reviews so I tried them and I have been going since......I've been natural since about June 2018 and it has been great! Jill has been my stylist and she is awesome! I just started getting into really coloring my hair and I'll come in with some really cool colors and she is always down for it and does such a great job with my hair! I have recommended quite a few people here and they have also raved about how nice the shop is and how professional all the stylist are. I started going to Suite Beverly a little over a year and love it. At first it was difficult getting an appointment when I wanted it, but I then scheduled a standing one for every two weeks with Jillian and that works. I appreciate their professionalism...could they work on their timing, yes, but I understand things happen. Overall, I love how Jillian does my hair and the wash is MAGNIFICENT! Danielle, Ladies, again thank you for another great experience! I kept forgetting to review my first time around and wasn't going to let that happen again. I really love the vibe, from the greetings of everyone, smiles, the music that keeps you relaxed and comfortable, and just the overall experience. Side note, everyone too has such nice speaking voices. Both times I've had Jillian do my hair and each time before even getting up from the chair I'm already skipping. I appreciate how before I ask she's letting me know what styling products are being put in my hair, and what steps to take to prolong my style. The first time, I had her chose the color she felt was good to even out my color, and cover over my grays. I did give her an idea on what colors I like, it turned out very nice. I then had her trim it and straighten. It was raining so she pinned up my hair. The way she pinned it looked like a style, I was able to wear it like that for days after because the weather was rainy and I had to hold onto my straighten style. It would have lasted for weeks, but after about two I was missing my curls. This time around I had my color touched up, my ends of my hair lightened, and put in a natural style. She did a sort of wash and go (wag) using a pomade and mouse. I told her I usually shy away from WAG because I like my curls elongated not shrunken. Using those products she elongated my curls, the technique she did was so simple to follow I can't wait to try it. I sat under the dryer for 30 minutes, she shook out my hair and I was done. Now don't get me wrong from the time my appointment was and ended I was there over three hours. However, I can say I was being worked on that whole time. I have scheduled these two appointments six months from each other, so to me to be there this long it is ok, it is my relaxing time. Now what do they say no good deed goes unpunished. My only suggestion would be at the end when the client goes to pay. The woman at the desk, I'll call the financee will call out to the stylist, and ask what the client, standing at the desk had done. The stylist will either answer across the room, or approach the desk. On each time as I stood there the financee had a "discrepancy" on what the stylist said was performed, either if was there a process that the stylist is missing to charge for, or possibly what was done should be put in a "higher price bracket." But as the client you don't know, you just watch the back and forth interaction. Is it possible ladies right before the client gets up from the chair and approaches the desk, that the stylist can approach the financee, or visa versa not in front of the client, and discuss the process(es) that were done, and this is the time any possible "discrepancies" can be hashed out. Now, when the client approaches the desk after asking how was everything today, your then given the cost, and making next appointment. I believe this will add to the professionalism you already have, and the client's experience from their first sit in the chair to the end with the "financee", would be seamless. Stylist Danielle is the best. I have short hair and have been going to her for at least 6-7 cuts over the past year. She always does a FABULOUS job. She's very much in the know of current trends and conscious of what kind of angles/cuts compliment my face. When i leave her I frequently get stopped and complimented on my cuts. I have gotten my hair highlighted once. She did a good job on the coloring. It was a bit too dark at first and I was unhappy with the initial results, so she re-highlighted it to make it lighter. It took extra time and effort, but she delivered in the end and there was no additional charge. I'm of Asian descent and have straight, silky hair, but I see almost exclusively hispanic and african american customers every time I'm there. However, this is a hidden gem for women of all different colors and ethnicity. The staff is always pleasant and kind. I think her services are competitive and reasonably priced, but then again, I only get stylish cuts, sometimes trims. Her price isn't cheap, but honestly if she was in NYC or Beverly Hills, she could ask for a lot more. I've gotten my hair cut at a much higher cost and have never left as happy as when I've been taken care of by Danielle. She's no supercuts or hair cuttery. You get more than what you pay for, for your benefit! Sometimes the wait is long and not as punctual as I'd like, but the end result is just too worth it. I highly recommend this place. Idk about the other stylist, but she's always busy with what looks like returning customers too (She'd ask things like "oh so what happened to xyz," suggesting they had talked before). read more

I'm sooo... frustrated! Today was suppose to be a do over appointment from the last time I was at Suite Beverly's. I absolutely did not like my hair and it wasn't what I wanted. I did voice my disappointment directly after my service. The receptionist ask if I would like to come back in to have my hair redone, I replied, yes but stated I would like to speak with my stylist, then schedule the appointment. I only ask to speak to my stylist because I had more than one miscommunication in the past with this same receptionist. My appointment was scheduled but when I arrived at the salon it was closed. Yes, I actually went to the salon thinking I was getting my hair done. Also, I had appointments scheduled bi-weekly on Sunday and my appointment was cancelled without any communication... this happened more than once. Needless to say my stylist did not call me back as requested so I called Suite Beverly and left a message regarding the whole situation. The receptionist called me back apologizing for the miscommunication and my unpleasant experience, she ask if I would allow Suite Beverly to redo my hair to make up for my unpleasant experience. We scheduled another appointment which was scheduled for today August 25th 2019. I received coils again because my stylist said they would look better because my hair is longer. I ask again about straightening my hair my stylist said she didn't want to mess up my curl pattern. Okay, that's fine I just wanted a nice hair style that looks good on me. Who doesn't? Right! My hair looks just as bad as it did the first time I had the coils and Suite Beverly charge me today for the hair style even though they called me and ask if I would allow them to redo my hair. Today there was a new receptionist whom I've never seen and she said she had to charge me because know one said anything to her regarding this situation. My first visit was $130 I wore a hat after leaving the salon and today's visit was $95 I'm washing my hair tonight and styling it myself for work tomorrow. I tried to work with Suite Beverly before I posted this review but this is really costing me a lot of time and money. Not to mention, this was handled in an unprofessional manner. read more

This shop has a great ambiance, staff is friendly. Be prepared to wait. Would have appreciated a courteous apology from the owner for the enormous amount of time spent waiting for wash and style - 3.5 hours and that was with an appointment. For the price you pay, the service should be impeccable to include respect of each clients time. Because of the length of time it took to get a washed, I missed a NY show in which we had tickets for and had to cancel dinner reservations at Ruth Chris's. When I asked the owner if she could spare "2 minutes of her time to speak with me" she said she was too backed up to speak with me, really I just spent over $500 within 3 visits to this shop. I have never had a business owner/professional not have time to speak with a client.Very inconsiderate and unprofessional. I was very disappointed and upset with the owners nonchalant demeanor. What was the purpose of making an appointment - waste of my valuable time The stylists are good, just be prepared and bring your large pocketbook and lots of patience - you will need both. read more

I just got back from my first visit to the salon and the experience definitely exceeded my expectations. I normally just get doobies every week but I desperately needed a good trim and a friend recommended Danielle who is the owner. I had a 5:30 appt and was out of there 2 hrs later which really surprised me. Most salons keep you waiting but there was hardly any wait. It wasn't really crowded which might have something to do with it. The girl who shampooed my hair was very nice and professional and was able to answer my haircare questions. Danielle was also very nice and professional and made some haircare recommendations which I appreciated. She gave me a great trim and flat ironed my hair. When she was done, my hair looked and felt so much healthier, bouncy and shiny. The prices are pretty high but I felt it was worth it for a great experience. The salon is very clean, organized and modern looking. It is also quiet with only soft music playing. Most salons are loud, overcrowded and noisy with too much chatter going on by the stylists. It was refreshing to see a salon that didn't fall into the same category. The town the salon is located in is very nice but there is only street parking available which you have to pay for. Overall, I highly recommend this salon. I would've given it 5 stars but the high prices and inconvenient street parking make it only 4. read more

Finally,I've found a GREAT salon in New Jersey!!! This place is AMAZING. And, my stylist, Jillian, is so super talented! From the moment I walked in, I immediately felt the warmth of everyone, from staff to clients, in the atmosphere. The decor of the salon is inviting with warm earth tones throughout. There is a great influx of clients but you're never just sitting waiting endlessly for someone to see you. The staff is very attentive to you and their top priority is making sure you're comfortable and satisfied with your experience at Suite Beverly. But, if you're not interested in getting your hair done at Suite Beverly (and that would be your loss) you can enjoy a beautiful array of fashions: trendy dresses, sexy shoes, and classy jewelry. The styles are exclusive to Suite Beverly and the prices are more than afforable! Where else can you get a new hairdo and sassy new outfit to go with it? Only at Suite Beverly. Suite Beverly captures the lost art of the salon experience. The space is inviting and relaxing. The staff is professional, friendly and familiar. Their youth and loveliness is refreshing and they are always poised and polished. As far as the amenities are concerned, one would be hard pressed to find a comparable array of hair and skin services. I had never colored my hair, but SB has converted me. I am constantly complemented on my glowing highlights and often have to convince others that it is not my natural color. My cut is always fresh and new, complimentary to my face and style. I am confident in my stylist's abilities and opinions, often allowing her to "just do it" and am always pleased beyond expectation. I have been a client of Danielle, the owner, for more than 10 years. Now that she has her own salon, I am happy to recommend her expertise to anyone. I am naturally curly, other friends and clients are straight, kinky and in between. No matter what, we all look amazing thanks to Suite Beverly. The spa services are equally impressive. As a brazilian wax girl, I can report that Angela is by far the best waxer ever. She uses the best cream wax and has "TendSkin" on hand. The pain is minimal and the results are spectacular. Suite Beverly was recommend by a good friend of mine who is "natural" and knew I was looking for a good salon to maintain my daughter's natural hair. Well we made an appointment for a consultation. The receptionist assured me we were in good hands since it would be with the owner. No such luck... She did even bother to take a minute to introduce herself. She walked up to my daughter and thought she was another client getting a consult for a color. She then mumbled through an explanation of a maintenance plan for her hair which would include a complete chop of all her hair due to some breakage. I ask that she repeat what she said and again she mumbled something. Oh did, I mention that my daughter is 14 years old and I explained she was about to start school in the next 2 weeks. When I later told my friend what happen she said she wish we spoke before I went in because she no longer was a client because she did not like the customer service or better said the lack of it that came with high prices.
